How might it happen? Or, perhaps, how did it happen? An unprecedented draft season left NFL teams relying on technology like never before, and—according to security experts and hackers—left them more vulnerable than they might have imagined.

00:00 The NFL draft continues on because of technology, but due to that technology comes some worry.
00:10 For more on that, I'm joined by the MMQB's Gary Gremlin for today's Daily Cover.
00:15 Now, Gary, how worried and why are NFL officials worried about the potential of hacking with
00:21 the draft?
00:22 You know, NFL officials themselves are kind of downplaying it, and for obvious reasons.
00:27 They're trying not to encourage everyone or anyone to try and test out your security system
00:31 and stuff like that.
00:32 They should be worried, though, and the biggest reason they should be worried, and especially
00:35 teams should be worried, you have a lot of guys out there who are not tech savvy who
00:40 are suddenly very reliant on technology this draft season.
00:43 Now, are there hackers out there who are waiting to pounce because they know this is such a
00:48 big event?
00:49 I mean, look, you have, back in January, you had a collective of hackers, they call themselves
00:55 OurMine, I talked to the guy who at least claims he was responsible for hacking the
01:00 15 NFL team accounts.
01:02 They do it because it is, number one, it's clout, and number two, they are selling, OurMine
01:08 happens to sell a security service, so they are doing it for business purposes.
01:13 There are absolutely people who are looking at the NFL right now and saying, one, it's
01:17 a trophy, two, it's a billion dollar, multi-billion dollar organization that, you know, if you
01:24 get a hold of someone's draft board, you could probably ask them for a little bit of cash.
01:29 So this isn't a case of Belichick learning how to hack or saying that, you know, hackers
01:33 were just doing a team documentary.
01:35 It's, you know, it could be a bit of that, too.
01:39 To be honest, I think the bigger concern around the league is teams hacking other teams, and
01:45 quite frankly, there's a good chance it's already happened if it was going to happen
01:50 here, and it is really difficult to get caught if you haven't been caught or you don't trip
01:56 yourself up.
01:57 Perhaps we'll see something strange added into Roger Goodell's basement.
02:01 Gary, appreciate your time as always.
02:04 You got it, Robin.
02:04 Thanks for having me.
