00:00The last dance is finally here and to give our impressions I'm joined now by
00:05Ben Pickman who along with me is part of a roundtable up on SI.com. Ben what was
00:10your biggest takeaway from the first two episodes? So my first takeaway is kind of
00:15selfish and it's just the joy that went along with watching some of Michael
00:19Jordan and the dunk montages and the colorful interviews with all different
00:22kinds of characters including one former Chicago resident and gone were this were
00:27the streams of horse and NBA 2k instead in its place was this great look back at
00:32the career of Michael Jordan. We already saw the conflicts the rich plot lines
00:36that are gonna stem through the entire series and I was just just very happy
00:41transported out of this quarantine world and back into the era of the Bulls
00:45dynasty where a collegiate Michael Jordan even was asking his mom for
00:49stamps I it was just fun. Yeah it felt like an event right you know and I
00:53almost feel bad because I was going man the NBA season really needs to start
00:57again after this but you know you've got the old highlights Michael at the
01:02against Boston to LL Cool J's on bad and one takeaway I really had was the value
01:07of Scottie Pippen you know as a Robin I wouldn't want to label anyone that and
01:13he's much more. Yeah I know I think that's one of my takeaways or one of my
01:17biggest surprises as well right I mean it didn't shy away from anything Scottie
01:21Pippen in the second episode specifically touching on his family and
01:24his roots I didn't know that he was a manager initially in college and it also
01:28didn't shy away from the financials of talking about Scottie Pippen right his
01:31salary was brought up and I saw the ringers Kevin O'Connor he pointed out
01:34Sunday night that Pippen salary would have been the 280th in the NBA this
01:39season and that just be 25,000 more than Lakers reserve guard Alex Caruso now
01:43that's pretty crazy to think about when you compare the 1990s in modern-day
01:47context it's not that long ago and and I think that point of drilling down and
01:51Scottie salary was telling because we're gonna get plenty of nuggets throughout
01:56this series and turn over all these stones that we really haven't thought
01:59about in years and I think that's one of the best parts of it you also see the
02:02conflict between the players coaches and management it might you know tell you a
02:06little bit about the difference in eras too because I forget about some of that
02:09stuff without the 24-7 news cycle without social media but it was
02:13highlighted and reminded just that the greatness and the magnitude of that
02:17Bulls team and of course Michael Jordan Ben appreciate your time as always
02:21thanks a lot for having me
