00:00Hey everyone, Aaron Rose here from Sports Illustrated.
00:03As we wait for sports to return, one of the topics I've tried hitting on a lot lately
00:07is how the virus is affecting Canada's top basketball prospects.
00:10We've talked about guys like Kareem Mane and the Canadians playing at the NBA Academy
00:15in Mexico who had to make a quick trip home back to Montreal.
00:19Few prospects have been affected by the virus as much as Crestwood's Trayvon Thomas.
00:24Thomas was one of the best players in the OSBA this past season, averaging 24 points
00:28per game and nearly five assists.
00:30I felt like I proved myself for all years and coaches were starting to hear about me.
00:34With the shutdown, that kind of like stopped a lot of the things that were going on.
00:39His Crestwood coach Roe Russell said he was on the verge of getting some serious high
00:43major interest when the virus hit North America and his recruiting shut down in mid-March.
00:48He had about maybe nine high majors that were coming to Crestwood in March to see him play.
00:54He would have signed high major, 100%.
00:58Earlier this year, Thomas said he had multiple Division 1 offers, but he was holding out
01:01for something better.
01:03Now, those offers have dried up, and he's just hoping to pique coaches' interest once
01:07again.
01:08No, I don't regret it because I know that with God and with everything going on, I'm
01:13going to get something.
