00:00 The script did change. Yeah, there was some drafts. Yeah, the script that I think we all initially read prior to actually like signing on and agreeing to the project is different than
00:11 once we agreed to do it and then we got to Boston and we had six weeks of rehearsal and
00:17 we were in the room with Justin Kritzke's who wrote the screenplay and Luca and the three of us and we started actually
00:24 doing table work and discussing the play a screenplay and you know
00:29 Talking about the characters and the scenes and the arc and everything and Luca did I know had very
00:36 firm ideas in terms of what should change how it should change why it should change in certain aspects how to
00:44 add things how to add
00:46 Layers and
00:50 Complications of aspects of the story and these characters without actually changing dialogue so much but putting them in situations that
00:59 allow the characters to
01:01 Show themselves and perk yeah
01:04 And in that kind of how how do they react within a certain kind of situation as and as to why they do that as?
01:10 Well, so it did evolve it did a change and that's not abnormal really as with a film itself
01:16 but there were definitely things that were added and shifted and Luca and Justin worked on the script in Italy before we even
01:23 All got together when I first met Luca
01:27 That
01:29 Was kind of like the first steps was him kind of getting into a room with Justin and just them kind of being able to
01:35 I
01:36 don't know just like have time together to figure it out because you know you have a brilliant script and a brilliant director and
01:42 the purpose of a director is to then take the material and then and
01:47 and because I believe that like
01:50 Justin's that was really like one thing not one draft like he hadn't really done a bunch of drafts of the original thing that we had
01:58 Really started with and so he was like and while it was absolutely brilliant
02:04 I know that Luca wanted to kind of infuse his own things into it and so that collaboration started quite early
02:10 I'd love to expand a bit on how things change once you guys were all together Josh the
02:17 It's it's throughout this film
02:19 It's so important like some of the looks that all of you give each other because it could be very telling but also it could
02:24 Be things like deceive people and throw people off so even even just in that that scene
02:29 And you know in the hotel room everyone together. I'm curious like the conversations all of you had about how to portray
02:34 Glances how to portray motivations between each other well. I don't know that we had necessarily a specific conversation about that
02:43 I think
02:44 you know there's
02:47 If you put a director like Luka Godnino and
02:50 Actors like Zendaya and Mike on a project together all of that work is sort of happening by itself to a point you know I think
02:58 Luca and Sam boo the cinematographer will be looking in every scene for what each cat each
03:06 Actor character is doing and what the relationships outside of the script
03:11 What what we're seeing and so?
03:14 You know there were occasions we were talking about it yesterday actually there's in that scene
03:18 Tashi's talking about having not gone. You know about going to public school as opposed to private school and
03:27 Yeah, and I was like I was just listening
03:34 I was just as Patrick just listening to what she was saying and then Luca came in and was like
03:40 Josh I think Patrick finds that baffling like really confusing that she would have gone
03:46 You know that her parents wouldn't have paid for her education
03:48 And so then we did another version, and it's not a big thing in the film actually
03:53 It's like it's just a brief if you were looking you'd see it, but it's just witnessing Patrick just like completely
04:00 Like perplexed and so there's you know there are moments like that where Luca can kind of inform it and and guide us
04:07 but generally speaking
04:09 You know you're just experiencing things as you go through and I think often you know the scene
04:14 The scene within a scene is always going on and Justin's writing is so fantastic
04:20 But you're always trying to get one over on the other
04:23 character they're constantly trying to outdo each other and so
04:27 Those looks just happen by but you know naturally I think
