00:00 So a lot of people lose a lot of shots around the greens.
00:07 They've hit a couple of decent shots to get here, yet somehow still walk off with a six
00:10 or a seven.
00:12 And usually that's down to pool club selection or pool shot selection if you like.
00:16 So when you find your ball around the green, ask yourself one question.
00:20 If someone was going to give you a winning EuroMillions lottery ticket, if you could
00:23 throw the ball close to that hole, how would you do it?
00:27 I bet none of us from here would go up and over and lob it as high as we can.
00:30 We'd all give it a bit of lawn bowls and roll it along the ground.
00:34 That gives you the answer to the question of what club you should be putting in your
00:37 hand at that point.
00:39 We want something with less loft on here.
00:40 We want to be doing a short little chip shot that runs the ball in.
00:44 There's absolutely no point taking our sandwich out, flying it as high as we can in the air,
00:49 because for that we're going to need quite a big swing.
00:51 And we all know if that goes wrong, there's quite a lot of momentum there to carry your
00:55 ball further out and over the back of the green.
00:58 So small, compact swing is much, much safer option.
01:02 So that's one of the best ways to work out what club to hit from what place.
01:10 So here's the perfect opportunity where if we had that ball in our hand and we were going
01:14 to throw it, we're going to have to be a bit cute with it and pop it up high and get it
01:18 to stop quick.
01:19 So that tells us that we need to choose something with a lot of loft on it.
01:22 So possibly the most lofted club in our bags might be a sandwich, might be a lob wedge.
01:27 The biggest thing to remember with these clubs is they put the ball in the air for you.
01:30 The only thing you've got to do is make sure you get the turf so you get what's underneath
01:34 it.
01:36 And all you need to apply to this is a nice little tick tock action.
01:41 So just back and through.
01:44 And the ball will pop up in the air because there's loft on that club, not because you're
01:47 trying to help it.
