00:00 >> Just be careful of everyone else's motives because they're
00:03 not always your your best interest.
00:06 >> You know what's your advice for kids dealing with critics
00:11 and life in the public eye because you had for so long.
00:14 >> Yeah, listen it's a it's a tough world to live in today in
00:19 the public eye different when I was a kid I'm old. So was it
00:24 wasn't quite the same.
00:25 But this is one of the things that I feel like you you only
00:30 really learn well with maturity
00:32 is that you you you can't try to please everyone you got to
00:38 just
00:38 own who you are
00:40 and and be secure with yourself and not play the comparison
00:46 game. But I know how tough that is it's still hard as an adult
00:49 but it gets it gets better when you get older.
00:53 >> You've had so much experience like I mentioned in
00:56 the limelight and I like you recently spoke out about the
00:59 quiet on the set doc so I want to know what it's like on full
01:02 House did you feel protected on set.
01:04 >> Yeah, I absolutely did and the documentary was so
01:09 difficult to watch it just it absolutely broke my heart
01:12 and
01:14 it made me so sad for the people that had such terrible
01:19 experiences and not only Drake Bell, but the other kids that
01:23 that were on the shows that just you know, maybe didn't
01:27 want to be used in a physical way but
01:28 just had terrible experiences that it just ruined their self
01:33 image in.
01:33 It was just horrible, but again not all of us have those
01:39 experiences and I'm it made me even extra grateful that that
01:43 wasn't my experience and I did feel very protected by the
01:47 people that I was working with along with my family.
01:50 >> Would you have any advice for tell actors today, I know
01:53 you said you know you did it eons ago, but you're you're a
01:57 plethora of knowledge. Yeah.
01:58 >> I mean my advice is it, you know if you love it it can be a
02:03 wonderful industry, but you really need people around you
02:06 to protect you that are looking out for your best interest and
02:11 just be careful of everyone else's motives because they're
02:14 not always your your best interest.
02:17 >> Congratulations on your birthday congratulations on
02:20 celebrating years of marriage next month. So yeah, the 18
02:24 this is what we always like to do we go. Yeah, 28 and we
02:28 always have to ask the same question just because we this
02:31 is by what makes marriage work. What makes marriage work what
02:35 is the secret to your election.
02:37 >> Oh my goodness oh my goodness. I feel and it's the
02:41 same answer I always say by the grace of God.
02:44 It's true, it's like hills hills and valleys highs and
02:49 lows, but lots of love lots of laughter, lots of respect lots
02:54 of humility and setting aside your pride at times.
03:01 I think that's what it's all about.
03:03 >> Kate tells me you're a promoter you know someone
03:05 looking for us. I know somebody should make.
03:08 >> She's been given a beautiful voice. It's a miracle.
03:14 >> She's a special one son, your family and not in the way
03:18 all the way.
03:19 >> On some hero, it is a movie that tugged at my my heart it
03:25 took that family and it really
03:27 hope Candace why just sign on for this. I was this the
03:31 project for you.
03:32 >> Yeah, thanks, I'm so glad you felt all those things
03:35 watching the movie that's what the movie is all about you know
03:39 I've had this the movie is a an inspiring true story about the
03:43 small bone family and you might know them from the band for King
03:46 country or the singer Rebecca Saint James. But there it's
03:50 their upbringing of how they came to from Australia to
03:53 America had really lost everything and had to build
03:57 their way back and it's a family of 7 kids and a mom and
04:00 dad that are so inspiring through the struggles through
04:05 the challenges and I've known this family for about 8 years.
04:10 I've done some things along the way I actually met them when
04:13 they performed live on the view while I was a co-host there
04:16 and that like solidified this family friendship and when they
04:21 said we we think it's ready to time to tell our family story.
04:26 They brought the script to my production company and I read
04:30 that script so quickly and I said absolutely we would love
04:33 to help produce this and
04:35 this is the type of content that my company
04:38 works on that I want to bring to the viewers, it's all about
04:42 it's all about family and like you said it's all about hope.
04:46 >> And that's what we're going to talk about today on the U.S.
04:48 news.
04:49 (upbeat music)
