00:00 I worked really hard at it and I think if I remember correctly, I did it in a couple takes.
00:05 I mean, it didn't look like CGI, so.
00:07 No, it's not CGI.
00:08 You must have gotten it, right?
00:09 It is not CGI.
00:10 Jamesy Wu, FBI.
00:12 Bonafide joint multi-service response.
00:15 Really looking forward to the commemorative t-shirt.
00:17 So I will start with kind of a blunt question, which is, was Darcy Lewis blipped?
00:22 That was also a question I had.
00:25 That was talked about at length with the writers.
00:29 I don't think she was blipped, so.
00:31 Okay.
00:32 I would like a flashback to see Darcy not blipped.
00:36 That would be very funny.
00:38 But we decided she wasn't blipped.
00:40 Was Jimmy Wu blipped?
00:41 Well, you know, I did ask that question during the making of this and, you know,
00:48 I've gotten various answers, theories.
00:52 I don't know the answer for sure, but my theory is that he wasn't.
00:57 Okay.
00:58 Because he needed that time to learn that card trick, you know, like.
01:01 Someone must really miss you back at Quantico.
01:04 No, sir.
01:05 Softball season's over, sir.
01:07 Well, I actually was going to specifically ask about the card flip because it is a great
01:10 callback that is just like within his intro.
01:13 How'd you do it, Scott?
01:14 Do what?
01:15 The card trick.
01:18 I'm curious, though, was that something that you already knew how to do or was that something
01:22 that maybe took a few takes?
01:23 No, I didn't know how to do it, but I learned it maybe a couple days before
01:27 and worked really hard on it because I didn't want to screw it up.
01:30 I didn't want to have to do like 40 takes of that one thing.
01:35 Barf.
01:36 So I worked really hard at it and I think if I remember correctly, I did it in a couple takes.
01:42 Nice.
01:42 Looks great in the show.
01:44 So, I mean, it didn't look like CGI, so.
01:46 No, it's not CGI.
01:47 You must have gotten it right.
01:48 It is not CGI.
01:49 Seriously?
01:50 You had a bit of a tempestuous relationship with Scott Lang when we first met Jimmy Wu.
01:56 Well, it started that way.
01:58 Yeah, but I mean, so like at this point, after like seeing everything that happened
02:02 in Avengers Endgame, do you think that his perspective on superheroes has maybe changed?
02:07 And do you think maybe he brags about knowing Scott Lang?
02:10 I think so.
02:12 I think so.
02:13 I think Jimmy is kind of, yeah, he's kind of, he uses it for cool points, you know?
02:22 Like I think, you know, there is a childlike nature about him, you know?
02:27 Magic.
02:27 And I could for sure see that playing out in his recollection of his times with Scott.
02:35 It totally romanticized.
02:38 He was there along with him the entire way.
02:40 Yeah, totally.
02:40 Yeah.
02:41 Making up stuff that didn't happen, you know.
02:43 Did you want to grab dinner or something?
02:46 I mean, because I'm free.
02:47 We haven't seen Darcy since Thor the Dark World.
02:50 And that means like, in addition to the amount of time that we haven't seen her, that means
02:53 she was also living through the entire time that she wasn't blipped.
02:57 So like, how far did you go as far as just kind of like mapping her life?
03:01 Well, that's right.
03:03 So there, you know, a lot is addressed, but nothing to do with the time exactly and what
03:09 Darcy's been doing.
03:10 So it's kind of up to the viewer to fill that in.
03:13 But as an actor, for me, I was like, okay, well, she's seen some stuff.
03:18 She's obviously lived through some things and she's been in college this entire time.
03:22 So I think she's just the same exact Darcy, but now she's a professional and she demands
03:30 respect.
03:31 Miss Lewis.
03:32 Dr. Lewis.
03:35 And actually, I mean, was that kind of part of it?
03:36 Just like as far as the dialogue, because it's classy, classic Darcy snark when she's
03:40 especially like back in the back of the van with those other scientists.
03:43 Like, was there a process of just making sure that the voice was right?
03:47 Yes.
03:48 Actually, that's such a good question, because when you're acting, there are only a few
03:53 things you can do.
03:54 You can't change your face, but you can change your voice and how you speak.
03:58 So I try.
04:00 I mean, my voice is so annoying and people are definitely quick to point that out and
04:05 there's nothing I can do about it.
04:06 So I definitely did watch some Darcy stuff just to remember what I was doing with my
04:12 voice and my register and try to bring it a little more down, you know, because now
04:17 she's a professional.
04:20 She's a doctor.
04:20 Maybe I could get that coffee now.
04:22 Or not.
04:25 That's cool.
04:26 One of the cool things about Jimmy Woo's role and kind of like the whole sword operation
04:31 in WandaVision is that it's kind of a fan surrogate program.
04:34 They're watching WandaVision the same way that fans are watching WandaVision and trying
04:39 to just pick out all the clues.
04:40 Was that something that was an influence on your performance?
04:43 It wasn't something that I was fully conscious of until I started, until I saw the episodes,
04:52 you know, but it was something that I was conscious of in terms of just the character
04:58 being very confused, you know, and wanting to find the answers to these questions.
05:04 I mean, that was a genuine thing that Jimmy was going through.
05:07 Between you, me, and the bedpost, I am not confident about this mission.
05:11 And it wasn't until I watched the episodes that I was like, oh wow, the audience is going
05:16 through the exact same thing and they're asking the exact same questions that he's writing
05:20 on the board, you know, which is pretty, pretty amazing and really cool to be, to represent
05:27 the audience in that way.
05:28 Yeah, it was definitely that fun moment of Darcy and Jimmy Woo eating chips watching
05:34 the show, like the viewer, because, you know, the first three episodes on purpose are kind
05:39 of, you're just like, what is going on?
05:41 What is happening?
05:42 What is this?
05:42 And then to see another character or two other characters also being like, what am I watching?
05:48 There's something really fun about that.
05:50 And I think it's a really fun guidepost for the viewer to see other people being confused.
05:56 Like how much did you actually know about what's going on?
06:01 Well, I had a very unique opportunity where we did do table reads.
06:06 So I actually got the scripts, which I didn't expect at all.
06:12 So I knew what was going on.
06:15 I mean, whoa.
06:17 But there was a point in filming where I was like, you know, Darcy doesn't know everything.
06:22 I don't want to know everything.
06:24 And also I don't want to know too much so that I don't have to hide too much.
06:29 So it was partially self-preservation and partially for my character that there was
06:34 a point where I just focused on Darcy's stuff.
06:37 And so I don't really know exactly what happens anymore, along with everybody else.
06:44 I did kind of know most of it, you know, I wouldn't say all of it, but I knew most of
06:49 it going in.
06:50 And but, you know, you just when you're in the scene, you're just kind of in the moment
06:56 and and you kind of you kind of forget about what you know, you know, because it's just
07:01 you're just kind of living it.
07:04 And it is genuinely perplexing, you know, the situation.
07:07 Well, you're not Randall Park, you're Jimmy Woo.
07:09 Yes, exactly.
07:10 So, yeah, I mean, it did feel like a puzzle.
07:15 It felt like a puzzle that we were trying to figure out.
07:17 I'm only through the D's, but so far I got Diddly Squad.
07:20 Speaking entirely theoretically, we know that Jane Foster is going to be becoming Thor in
07:25 the next Thor movie.
07:26 What do you think Darcy Lewis's reaction to seeing that would be?
07:30 Just complete confusion, probably still attracted to Thor, but maybe in a more platonic way.
07:40 But why?
07:40 Hey, man, we're working with the same scarcity of intel.
07:43 I don't know.
07:44 As a fan, I'm desperate for this movie.
07:46 I mean, I'm like, I can't wait for it.
07:48 Same.
07:50 Well, thank you so much again for taking the time today.
07:52 I cannot wait to see more of this show and more of Darcy Lewis.
07:55 So thank you again.
07:56 Thank you.
