00:51 and Guzman trying to set the early tone
00:53 against the young up and comer in Ginny.

01:09 - Guzman's last fight in 2023,
01:12 a loss to Iman Lee in Greenwich, Connecticut, a decision.
01:17 His last win coming back in April of 2022
01:21 against Shawn Johnson.

01:25 - I think Ginny was a little bit taken off guard
01:30 the way Guzman came out at him from the onsite.
01:33 - John Ginny's last fight in November,
01:38 a third round knockout of David Canales,
01:41 that in his family's native Albania,
01:45 but he finds himself in a dogfight here in round number one,
01:48 the first of seven bouts from the Paramount Theater
01:52 in Huntington, New York.

02:00 and it's such an exciting downtown of Huntington
02:03 is such a perfect venue for a world-class card of fights.

02:11 Usually, you know, we have a sellout crowd,
02:13 which I'm sure we're going to.
02:14 There's standing room only most of the time

02:22 This fight slated for six rounds.
02:26 John Ginny coached by Lou "Honey Boy" Duval.
02:33 A sixth-year professional
02:35 became a professional at the age of 19.
02:38 And certainly one of the Northeast region's
02:42 fast-rising stars.
02:44 He's trying to pin Guzman against the ring,
02:46 but Guzman using that veteran savvy to get out of there,
02:49 but Ginny connecting with a couple of uppercuts to the face.

02:55 Like I said, I think he was taken off guard a little bit

06:03 Danny, what impressed you most
06:04 out of what you saw at Ginny in round number one?
06:06 - Well, again, the first part of round one,
06:09 I had to give to Guzman.
06:12 He came out definitely more aggressive,
06:14 connecting with several combinations.
06:17 Ginny did come out stronger, okay, later in the round.
06:23 Again, I think that, and I'm repeating myself,
06:25 I think that he was a little bit taken off guard
06:27 from the very start of the fight.
06:29 And a lot of that has to do with,
06:31 you know, he sees the guy's record too, all right?
06:33 He knows what the guy may be capable of,
06:35 or not may be capable of.
06:38 But the point being is, is that,
06:40 and it was Pat Sullivan warning about the low blow.
06:44 But the thing about it is this,
06:46 I still would give the first round to Guzman.
06:49 He was definitely more aggressive.
06:52 - Ginny starting to open up the playbook later on
06:56 in the first round,
06:58 as he certainly established the opening tenor here
07:01 in round number one.
07:02 A couple of big shots to the head of Guzman.
07:05 Guzman protecting well.
07:06 Again, we talked about the veteran savvy
07:09 that he brings to the ring,
07:10 32 years old and 11th year professional,
07:13 and has fought some of the best of the best
07:15 over the course of the last two and a half years.
07:17 And going up against another top ranked
07:23 Northeast opponent here in John Ginny.
07:25 - So far, this is definitely Ginny's round.
07:29 - What's the strategy here?
07:32 Round two, six round fight.
07:35 We'll see what Ginny laid out late in the first round
07:39 as Guzman starts to answer
07:43 with a couple of combinations of his own.
07:44 But here comes Ginny.
07:45 What is the strategy here in round number two for Ginny?
07:48 - Well, basically he's got him figured out
07:49 and he knows that he can't allow him to dictate
07:52 in that round like he did the first half of the first round.
07:56 Ginny now, definitely again,
07:58 I can see the way this kid fights.
08:00 He's definitely somebody to watch.

08:06 - Ginny trying to just will Guzman against the ropes.

08:51 What impressed you the most as we get a look here
08:54 at action from round number one and round number two?
08:56 - Well, again, I think that Ginny has found his mark now.
09:00 He has excellent skills.
09:01 He has good hand speed and he's right on the target now
09:05 as opposed to the first half of the round of round one,
09:10 where again, that's usually a feeling out period.
09:13 Guzman did not give him any chance to feel out at all,
09:17 but now he's got his bearings
09:18 and I think he knows what he has to do with Guzman.
09:21 - To get a look at John Ginny, 25 years old,
09:25 a sixth year professional with a 90% knockout percentage.
09:31 Can't get much better than that.
09:33 - This is his first time fighting here in New York.
09:36 His only two appearances on US soil
09:38 in his hometown in Connecticut.
09:41 The other eight fights in Albania
09:43 as we are about to begin round number three.

10:22 You know, Ginny has the better skills.
10:25 There's no question about that, but I gotta tell you,
10:27 it's like I said, the experience is in there.
10:29 He's been here, he's done it before.
10:31 - Ginny's doing a good job mixing it up.

10:43 And again, just trying to physically
10:46 will Guzman along the ropes.
10:48 But Guzman showing that veteran savvy, sneaking out,
10:51 centering the action in the middle of the ring.
10:55 - Like I said, guys with records like Guzman,
10:58 they come out to fight, okay?
10:59 They come out to fight because they like to fight.

11:12 - Again, trying to get Guzman into the corner.
11:14 Connecting again with a hard left uppercut.

11:18 And now Ginny, sensing blood in the water,

15:51 I think that Guzman still is in there
15:53 because of his experience and he knows how to survive.

16:43 and then absolutely put on a crescendo in round number three,

16:50 Danny, what impressed you the most
16:51 and what you saw really in the progression
16:54 of John Ginny round to round,
16:56 but what he really opened up and showed you
16:59 in that third and final,
17:00 and third and then what we saw initially
17:02 in that short round number four.
17:04 - Well, you know, again, it's a feeling out process
17:06 of your opponent, number one.
17:08 Number two, it's a confidence level.
17:10 Once he started finding his mark, okay,
17:12 each round as it went, okay, by the minute,
17:16 you could see him getting stronger, stronger,
17:18 you know, basically just knowing more
17:22 what he wanted to do with this guy,
17:24 how he wanted to do it.
17:25 And he did whatever he needed to do.
17:27 He did what he was supposed to do.
17:29 And I'm very impressed with this kid.
17:31 I gotta tell you, this is somebody I'd like to,
17:34 you know, keep a close watch on
17:36 because I think he could do something in his weight class.
17:40 - So a name to certainly look out for
17:45 in the super lightweight division,
17:47 John of the Albanian warrior, Ginny,
17:51 putting on an absolute show,
17:52 that against a veteran boxer, Ian Manuel Marquez,
17:57 Emmanuel Guzman, rather.
17:59 - You know, the funny thing is, you know,
18:03 I'm from Connecticut, I'm from Hartford,
18:05 and I never heard of a boxer other than Gene Tunney
18:08 being from Greenwich.
18:09 But hey, he represented well tonight.

18:15 - You know, again, we talked about
18:16 the list of high level opponents
18:21 that Guzman faced over the course of the last two,
18:23 three years.
18:24 He seemed to become sort of the, I guess,
18:29 test for some of these rising prospects.
18:33 And I think you gotta really be impressed
18:35 with what you saw.
18:36 Really, once John Ginny figured out
18:39 what the plan of attack was,
18:41 you saw how Guzman really set the early tenor
18:43 in round number one.
18:44 I think that's the impressive part,
18:46 how he was able to adjust and really flip the script,
18:50 get this match, get this bout in his style,
18:53 what he likes to do, and then eventually
18:55 open up the playbook and we saw the rest.
18:57 - Right, like I said before, guys like Guzman can cause-
