00:00 That's really it. Why did you think it was important to come out today and what are you hoping the movement can change?
00:05 I think it was fantastic that it was organised, the speeches were amazing.
00:10 But yeah, I've had enough. I'm scared.
00:13 For all women, it is a scary time. I had three men in my house recently, I was burgled.
00:20 I woke up to three men with balaclavas in my house.
00:23 I know they were there for my car keys, but I'm now petrified all the time.
00:30 It's just too close to home when I've got two little girls in the house.
00:34 Everything is just so belatable at the moment and it's just scary.
00:38 So enough's enough. They shut down a city.
00:41 Yeah, so that's really it. Why did you come out today and what are you hoping this movement can change?
00:46 I'm hoping that the community will get behind this so we have less incidences of domestic violence and violence against women by men.
00:54 I think it's really important that men are involved and that the whole community gets involved because it doesn't happen without that.
01:00 That's excellent. Can I go up again?
01:01 Basically, I came out today because I'm pretty outraged at what's been going on this year and previous years with the amount of women that have been killed.
01:11 I think it's time men actually started to have a real look at themselves because I think men are the ones that can fix this, not women.
01:19 I'm really hoping today that this is going to give people, especially men, courage to say to other men,
01:28 "This is not good and call it out," because it's time it was called out.
01:36 Obviously, like 32 women so far this year were tied in it.
01:41 We work in the mental health field so we see a lot of the effects that it has on women and children.
01:46 So it's really important that we can make some change today. So that's why I came down.
01:51 Yeah, absolutely. As Katie was saying, we work in the mental health field. We see this every day.
01:57 We're sick and tired of it. It's something I've had to grow up with.
02:01 It's my first experience in a relationship and often it's a privilege.
02:06 I just wanted to show up today as a male person and just show support for women here today and for women around me as well.
02:16 And just show that men can support women and we need to stop the abuse.
02:21 You know, the boys, your nephews, your mates, the blokes that you play footy with, having those conversations.
02:28 I'm glad we had so many people turn out today because I think it's a conversation we needed to have years ago.
02:36 Having all those deaths in these first four months of this year is no good at all.
02:41 Let's hope we can get some positive things from this and no more.
02:46 No more violence. No more violence against women and have that conversation.
