00:00That was my biggest fear, because I was told they're going to hurt her,
00:02but she's chasing them away.
00:05My cats are actually afraid of her.
00:11I am Mercedes, and this is Toffee's story for GOP.
00:13I have a friend that's a security guard in a club in L.A.,
00:16and he mentioned to me like, hey, there's a rabbit there
00:19and I'm afraid it's going to get ran over.
00:20He knows that I rescue cats.
00:22She wasn't meant to be on the street.
00:23I picked her up.
00:24I called the rescues.
00:25They had told me that they were blood.
00:27I ended up looking at YouTube videos,
00:28how to care for a rabbit, and I ended up keeping her.
00:31No!
00:31She was definitely hungry, because I bought her some hay
00:34and she ate like a full bag of hay.
00:35But physically, she looked OK.
00:37Pretty much bunny-proofed my whole house,
00:38because I didn't know they eat wood.
00:42She ate quite a few of my chargers and my headphones.
00:45I made her different areas.
00:46So she has four living areas, a living room house,
00:49one in the second floor, on the third floor, and the patio.
00:52So I was busy making sure that I could accommodate for her
00:55so she could have plenty of free roaming space.
00:57She lets my cat know that she's the boss.
00:59That's for sure.
01:00I think they know that, because they run away.
01:15When my cat tries to go on her litter box,
01:17she lets them know, like, no, you can't do that.
01:19That's my litter box.
01:21She's territorial.
01:22That's one thing I've learned about rabbits.
01:23Everyone says, like, go get another rabbit.
01:25I feel like it would be really hard for them to bond.
01:27That's why I like the cats, because they could take
01:29off and do their own thing.
01:30But she doesn't like anyone in her space.
01:33Tofu basically runs the house.
01:35She's the queen.
01:36She tells everyone what to do.
01:40She's like a little chubby, fluffy bear.
01:42She has a double neck that I love, really fluffy and soft.
01:46She knows her name, which I think is amazing.
01:49It took maybe, like, a couple months
01:51to warm up to the point that now she loves being held.
01:54She loves being around humans.
01:56She requires attention.
01:57It's very warming to see a rabbit do that.
01:59I didn't know rabbits would do that.
02:00They're like dogs, but it's so weird.
02:02She only likes to cuddle at night.
02:04No, no, no, no, no, no.
02:05She must have been in a breeding place.
02:07That would be my guess.
02:07The way she was before to the way she is now,
02:09completely different rabbit.
02:11You really just do that to my plant?
02:13Hey, no more, hey, me there.
02:17My biggest takeaway out of this is bunnies need
02:19more attention than a dog.
02:21They need a lot of space.
02:22You need a proper diet, proper care.
02:24It's not just about getting a bunny and putting it in a cage.
02:28She's like a baby to me.
02:33She brightens up my day.
02:34If I'm having a bad day, she just melts me.
02:37She makes me smile.
