00:00A Whitstable family has been left in a state of shock and with a hefty bill, as this is
00:06the state of their family car.
00:08It all happened last night.
00:11They say their evening was disturbed when they heard an almighty bang.
00:15It's thought a car had crashed into theirs.
00:18Sarah-Jane says she phoned the police, but they wouldn't send anybody out.
00:23I was sitting watching TV last night, about half past nine, ten o'clock, heard a massive
00:29almighty bang, got shoes on, came outside, saw that my car was not sitting as I'd left
00:36it.
00:37Somebody had drove into it, hence then it hit my husband's trailer, which then concertinaed
00:43into my husband's van.
00:44My vehicle also went into the front of our house and the driver reversed out and drove
00:50straight off up the hill.
00:53Absolutely devastated, you know, the fact that he's just come in, caused all this damage
00:59and we're left to just pick up all the pieces, two vehicles, house.
01:03Now the car is usually parked directly straight in front of the house, but they say as a result
01:08of the incident, that's what's caused it to fling around, facing diagonal, and that's
01:13what caused it to fling into the trailer and the van, causing damage to both of those as
01:18well.
01:19A neighbour says he's managed to capture some of the incident on his Ring doorbell camera.
01:23You can see that's my house right there, sort of in the forefront, and the car would have
01:29come from the other side there.
01:33Around 9.42 was when I caught it on the video, on my door video, and it went out of sight,
01:39but then I heard a big bang, so it had to be my car, because there was no other cars
01:44that came through.
01:45And it was here for about 30 seconds, it had the impact, we heard the big noise and
01:51there was some rustling, so it must have tried to back up or manoeuvre around, maybe that's
01:55why the car has gotten turned around, and then it just drove off.
01:59For her son Ethan, when he heard the noise, he was concerned something more serious had
02:04happened.
02:05I was just sitting there at my desk, enjoying a tea as you do on a Sunday evening, and then
02:11just this almighty bang, and it's like a sound I've never heard before.
02:14I thought the ceiling was caving in, or I thought, because my dad had literally just
02:18gone to bed, I thought maybe he took a tumble down the stairs and I was really, really panicked.
02:23It was such a shock, none of us knew what was going on.
02:26The family now are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch, and are asking
02:30neighbours for footage from their CCTV or ring doorbells.
02:34Kent Police has been contacted for comment.
