00:00 The Washington Post has alleged that Vikram Yadav, a former officer purposely associated
00:05 with the Research and Analysis Wing, RAW of India, orchestrated a plot to attack Khazistani
00:10 terrorist Gurpatwan Singh Pannu on American soil.
00:13 Reportedly, Yadav, now allegedly affiliated with another government organization, has
00:17 disclosed Pannu's New York address to the hired hit team.
00:21 Now, after these claims by the Washington Post, the Ministry of External Affairs has
00:25 commented on the matter claiming the reports as unwarranted and has strongly refuted the
00:30 claims made by the American media.
00:33 However, this isn't the first time such allegations have surfaced.
00:37 In November 2022, the Financial Times reported that US thwarted a similar plot against Pannu
00:43 and cautioned India about its suspected involvement.
00:46 India vehemently denied these accusations asserting that they contradict government
00:50 policy.
00:51 In response, a high-level inquiry was set up to investigate the matter of the alleged
00:55 murder conspiracy targeting Pannu.
00:58 Subsequently, an indictment was also filed in Manhattan court implicating Nikhil Gupta
01:02 alleging his collaboration with an Indian government official referred as CC-1 in the
01:06 assassination scheme.
01:07 CC-1, allegedly the mastermind behind the plot, enlisted Gupta's assistance in orchestrating
01:13 Pannu's demise in May 2023.
01:15 The Washington Post implicates Vikram Yadav as the anonymous CC-1.
01:20 Gupta, aged 52, was apprehended in Czech Republic on 30 June 2023 following charges by the US
01:26 Justice Department related to his involvement in the perpetrated murder conspiracy.
01:31 The US officials claimed that Gupta agreed to pay $100,000 to a hired assassin for executing
01:36 the assassination, with the initial payment of $15,000 transferred on 9 June 2023.
01:43 This whole controversy became a major issue when the United States also confirmed that
01:48 it foiled an attack on Khalistani terrorist Gurpard Singh Pannu on American soil, the
01:53 Financial Times reported that day.
01:55 Furthermore, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went public with allegations that
01:59 agents linked to India were involved in killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
02:04 Nijjar, another Khalistani advocate, was killed in a shooting in Canada's Surrey last year.
02:08 Trudeau's allegation was strongly denied by the Indian government and had sparked a diplomatic
02:12 row too that led to the ongoing dip in ties between the two countries.
02:16 Pannu himself has largely declined to speak on the matter but he has stated that the US
02:21 authorities had warned him about the alleged plot, stating that he will let the US authorities
02:25 respond on the issue and threats to his life on American soil from Indian operatives.
