00:00 DJ Dell, now I'm sayin' DJ Dell's TV. Yeah this is your boy Lil White, Hematized Minds, kickin' on my dog DJ Dell's, stripping for the streets. It's going down, ACP in the building, M-Town in New York baby, we keep it crackin'.
00:14 Basically, I had an underground CD out, me and a few of my other homeboys, they and me, we made a demo, I had like 9 hooks on it, out of like 14 songs, I had like 9 hooks. And I was also the first person to come out rapping on the song.
00:37 The name of the song was called Memphis Players. So when Pollen Juicy, they took the CD to Pollen Juicy, I know for a fact, now knowing Pollen Juicy, how big of an honor that was, because they get mixtapes given to them all day, every day, they get demos.
00:51 I get demos given to me, I'm not a boss, I can't do really much with them, but put them on the shelf, till one day I might be able to do something with them. I don't throw away no demos, you can ask this guy, we get demos 24/7.
01:01 But for them to actually listen to our demo, I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll listen to it. And the other guy that rapped with us, he was white, had tattoos all over him, up his neck, got a grill in his mouth, he just had that image, you know.
01:12 And Pollen Juicy was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we'll call you on it in the next couple days or something. Well, they popped the motherfucker in, heard that first verse, and called like an hour later.
01:21 How long ago was this?
01:23 Oh, 2000, 2001. And I'll never forget it, I was actually working at this little warehouse that used to ship golf balls and shit for FedEx, big D-Exec, you know, and they ordered the little fucking golf balls and shit, you know, the rich motherfuckers.
01:40 And I was sitting there and this dude, my boy Mike, cool-ass old school black dude, he was like, man, I'm gonna tell you who you need to be with, little white man, you need to be with 3-6 Mafia, boy, them dudes can do something for you.
01:52 And we were sitting there on our lunch break, listening to them, they was up at the radio station shopping, or doing promo for the new Project PET CD.
01:59 And he's like, that's who you need to be with. Little did I know, at that same exact time on the other side of the fucking town, the dudes I rapped with were handing Pollen Juicy the demo.
02:08 So while me and him sitting there talking about this is who you need to be with, I seriously swear to God, I came back to work the next day and said, fool, you're not gonna believe this shit.
02:15 Like, you remember the shit we were talking about yesterday, fool? Yeah.
02:19 He's like, you're for real? I was like, dead serious. I'll bring the fucking contract to work as soon as I can get it.
02:24 I was like, better yet, no. As soon as I get the contract, I'm quitting this motherfucker. And like, I ain't seen that motherfucker since.
02:31 I gotta find that dude, man, cause he actually, he like told me it was gonna happen. He's like, you're gonna be with him. Watch. You're gonna be with him.
02:38 The next day I was with him.
02:40 What is it like looking back now, like, you said it was 2000, 2001, now we're being 2007.
02:45 A dream. For real. A dream.
02:50 I kinda like just zoned off for a second, just saying. Like, dead serious, like, I grew up listening to Pollen Juicy, like, I'd skip school and go get their CDs, like, you know what I'm saying?
03:00 They usually both got, they actually brought the iPod and the dock in there.
03:05 They said, click, go, go, here's one through twelve, write something to at least eight of them, pick what you like, pick what you don't like.
03:12 But now that I've seen Pollen Juicy, I already got an idea in their head, like, they let me come up with something around it.
03:18 But most of the beats, most of the beats, actually I'll tell you about it, I made like three to five, six, maybe five beats, like, while I was there, just for me, wasn't nothing laying around like that.
03:29 But, I mean, they work so hard every time they work, so every one of their beats are the shit, you know?
03:35 It's not, you're not gonna find a whack ass three, six beat laying around in the house, you're not.
03:40 It's Borderline Genius, man.
03:42 Borderline's, oh shit. I lived with them for two months, them dudes are dope.
03:46 To me, a three, six mafia beat brings the best out of any rapper.
03:50 You can put any rapper on a track by Pollen, I ain't knocking no other producers, there's some hard ass producers out here.
03:57 But, there's something about a Pollen Juicy track, like she was saying, the way it breaks down and it never comes back in like that, you're like, what happened?
04:04 You wanna rewind it?
04:05 You wanna rewind it and see what happened?
04:07 It's funny because I've actually heard a lot of rappers' CDs, and they ain't bumping as hard on their own CD as they do on one track of Pollen Juicy's.
04:16 I mean, I'm a big believer the track brings out the rapper.
04:20 But, I mean, nowadays, to me, too many rappers are just getting too fucking simple.
04:26 For real, rap's got simple, dog.
04:28 I'm in New York City saying that shit. Rap has gotten simple.
04:31 I'm not even gonna, like, say no names, it's just the point.
04:34 Everybody in the room knows, and what's so bad is everybody in the room's going with it because it's selling.
04:40 Simple shit sells nowadays.
04:42 It's like, you can't bring a hard ass rapper to the table and give them some long ass chorus and expect people to understand what you say, because they're gonna be like, I don't wanna listen to that, it's too long.
04:51 Or, it's not snappy enough.
04:54 You know what I'm saying?
04:55 Like, everybody wants that real, straight to the point, snappy hook.
04:59 I've always been a storyteller with my rap.
05:01 So, like, back when I used to first start writing, I used to just rap about bank robberies and shit like that, like, to the T, like, damn near you're reading it.
05:09 And shit, it'd just be cool to me to write a damn story and put it in the rhymes.
05:13 Why do you think it's like this right now?
05:15 I think it's the listeners.
05:19 You think it has to do with the labels at all, too?
05:22 Yeah, a little bit. I really do.
05:24 I think the labels are putting out almost anything nowadays.
05:27 Well, they'll take a rapper that actually can rap and dumb them down before you actually...
05:32 You know, a lot of these rappers can rap a lot better than what they do on the album.
05:35 Yes, they can. Oh, yes, they can.
05:37 And the thing is, is...
05:39 Like, exactly, they're putting the good rappers on the back burner.
05:42 I don't know if you know this, but there's a rumor, or was a rumor...
05:46 I died?
05:47 Yeah, you died.
05:48 Like, 19 times?
05:49 Like, 19 times.
05:50 I got shot, I got jumped at a show, I got stopped at that show.
05:54 What else did we get?
05:56 Overdose.
05:57 Overdose, oh, God. Overdose on acid, crack, heroin.
06:00 Every drug you can think of.
06:02 I wanted to ask you about that, because you know, you told them...
06:04 I'm still alive, it's a rumor.
06:06 You were filming the show?
06:09 I did, like...
06:10 I may know at least one of the songs.
06:12 I did the "Talking Ain't Walking" for the show.
06:14 Like, we actually...
06:16 Paul made the beat right there, the camera was right there, all for the show.
06:21 But, like, during the taping, like, they would be downstairs taping...
06:25 and I'd be upstairs working.
06:27 And the fact that it was just...
06:28 To me, that's...
06:30 I'm from a little bitty ass hood in Memphis, and to be on MTV every other day for fucking two months is fucking crazy.
06:36 Just to be with them, period, is crazy.
06:39 The party's crazy?
06:40 That's not really it.
06:42 The party and shit, when I was really there, we partied to ourselves.
06:45 We'd fix a drink and go in the studio.
06:48 When we partied, we partied in one spot.
06:50 See?
06:52 Daisy, Nathan, Driver, Fuck, we partied in one spot.
06:55 We'd sit up in the studio...
06:57 We'd sit up in the studio and just come up and shoot, you know?
07:00 We'd go into a couple of little LA parties, little Oscar parties and shit like that, but...
07:04 When I was up there, they were more focused on getting this album done...
07:07 and really getting it...
07:08 'Cause they were recording the show for, like, half of the album.
07:13 While I'd be upstairs recording, they'd be downstairs shooting.
07:16 So, like, we'd have to be kind of quiet, and they couldn't be too loud, and it was...
07:20 It was crazy, but...
07:22 I think it was cool, because just being in the atmosphere alone made it...
07:26 You know, it was a lot of...
07:27 It was good pressure.
07:29 Not, like, bad pressure.
07:30 It was like, "All right, motherfucker, you better do this, or...
07:33 "The rest is screw."
07:35 You got a major promo on this album.
07:38 That show's always on MTV.
07:40 Oh, that was...
07:41 That was my promo.
07:42 Yeah.
07:43 How did that come about, though?
07:45 The whole thing on MTV?
07:46 It was actually...
07:48 White Pond Juice said it was actually MTV's idea.
07:51 They were, like, you know, they were going through getting ideas for the show...
07:56 and just thinking of different little things they could do on the show.
07:59 You know, Ashton Kutcher was one of the producers on the show.
08:02 And...
08:04 They...
08:05 One of the other guy, other producers, Kevin...
08:08 What's his last name?
08:10 Kevin something.
08:11 But he calls Pond Juice, and he's like, "Whatever happened to y'all's white dude?"
08:16 And he was like, "Little white dude?"
08:18 "What about him? He's in Memphis. Probably smoking some weed somewhere or some shit."
08:21 He was like, "I got a cool idea. We need to sort of bring him on the show."
08:26 And, uh...
08:28 You know, we ain't seen him in a minute.
08:29 So Hollywood was already made up.
08:31 Hollywood, yeah, the show was already made up.
08:33 I called Pond just bullshitting, like, "You gonna give me a spot in that joint, fool.
08:36 "You gotta get your boy in there."
08:38 I didn't expect a whole fucking episode.
08:40 'Cause, I mean, that's basically my episode.
08:42 It says it on the freaking TV Guide.
08:44 My name's on the TV Guide, fool.
08:46 Hip-ho, you know what I'm saying?
08:48 360 Mobby Showcase is Little White.
08:50 That shit's crazy.
08:51 My dad called me, like, "Boy, you know you're on the TV Guide."
08:54 I was like, "Yeah, bro."
08:56 What's up with you and Computer?
08:58 Computer's my dog.
08:59 Yeah, look how you guys are like brothers.
09:01 You guys just fuck with each other a lot.
09:03 He's like the big brother you don't like.
09:05 Yeah, that's what he looks like.
09:06 Big brother that gets you in trouble and gets you out of trouble.
09:08 You know what I'm saying?
09:09 Like, he can take me around the block.
09:12 Possibly get me arrested, but he ain't gonna let nobody kick my ass.
09:15 You know what I'm saying?
09:16 I hear you.
09:17 But, like, they got their favorite footage.
09:19 You know, like, we taped that show for, like, two days.
09:22 That one episode, like, a day and a half.
09:24 Taping just a whole bunch of different shit just here and there.
09:27 You know, MTV's gonna use the drama.
09:30 That was hilarious.
09:31 I thought it was funny.
09:32 Nah, it was mad funny when he threw the drink in his face.
09:35 He really gave me hell.
09:36 He said, "White, you know, he's been giving you hell.
09:38 Just come up with something, you know?
09:39 Get him back."
09:40 I was like, you know, because I'm pretty laid back.
09:43 I don't--like, I'm actually talking loud because I'm in a big room with people.
09:47 I usually don't--I'm chill.
09:48 So, they're like, "Give us more energy, little white.
09:50 Give us more energy.
09:51 Give us more you."
09:52 And I'm like, "Motherfucker, this is me.
09:54 Y'all called me up here to record a song, not fight big black people, motherfucker.
09:58 I'm not taking a scrap at this dude.
09:59 Look at him.
10:00 Okay, well, he's gonna--you know he's gonna drive you crazy."
10:03 Because he really does drive you crazy, like, in real life.
10:06 If he was here right now, he wouldn't have shut up to this whole goddamn thing.
10:09 "Yeah, that's number three, boy.
10:10 I got--I got--I got--I got--I got."
10:12 I love the computer.
10:13 I wouldn't trade him for the fucking world.
10:16 Yeah, this your boy, Little White.
10:17 It's going down.
10:18 My dog, DJ Dales.
10:20 HCP, baby.
10:22 Watch the show, Adventures in Hollywood.
10:23 We'll be cutting up on that bitch.
10:25 Holla.
10:26 Holla.
10:27 Holla.
