00:00Delusion?
00:01Yeah, drag delusion.
00:02Who needs the vaccine?
00:03Maybe it's me.
00:04Why do you need it?
00:05Because I don't know where I am.
00:12Welcome back to Entertainment Weekly's interviews with the RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 9 cast.
00:16I am Joey Nolte and our next returning queen has had quite a legacy with mothering in this
00:22fandom from RuPaul, becoming her new mommy in the workroom to this influencer queen becoming
00:27the mother of TikTok.
00:29Please welcome, from season 11, Plastique Tiara.
00:33How are you?
00:34Hi, Joey.
00:35Good.
00:36Good to have you.
00:37Good to have me.
00:38Good to have you.
00:39Good to have me.
00:40Good job, everyone.
00:41It is.
00:42You took the words right out of my mouth.
00:43It is very good to have you.
00:44I'm so excited to see you back.
00:45And I mean, if this is any indication of what we are getting on this season.
00:48Sorry.
00:49I couldn't do my hair.
00:50I have it up today.
00:51Yeah, just it's up very, very, very high.
00:54Well, as is the standard that I think you have set for fashion on the runway.
00:57So it's appropriately high because you set the standard pretty high.
01:00You know, the budget is different.
01:01We learned a few things.
01:02The TikTok money came in.
01:04So, you know, why not?
01:05The TikTok check.
01:06What do you feel?
01:07Oh, my God.
01:08I have to, that reminds me.
01:09What happens?
01:10Okay.
01:11Because there's all kind of talk now of like TikTok potentially getting banned.
01:12Like, are you like terrified of that?
01:14Honestly, I'm not scared at all, which is really weird.
01:16I have so much content from the past four or five years saved up on this hard drive
01:22like in a drawer and like a safe in my house that I'm just going to like transport it to
01:26another platform.
01:27And I'm, yeah, I'm not scared at all, actually.
01:31I was like getting a little bored, but now it's really fun to like kind of work again.
01:39Not you alerting to all the fans that you have the most valuable hard drive in history
01:43waiting at your home.
01:44Like you better guard that.
01:45You better put that in a safe.
01:47You know, if someone out here likes to guard it for me or actually just like publish it
01:51to the world, maybe that's like my gift to everyone.
01:54Yeah.
01:55Yeah.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Actually, I vote for that option.
01:58I don't know what I'm saying.
01:59I'm like delirious.
02:00It's been like 12 hours.
02:01I'm so sorry.
02:02It's been a long day.
02:03A long day.
02:04Queens work hard.
02:05I would say again, as if this is any indication as to what we're getting on the season ahead,
02:08we're in store for a very huge treat.
02:10So what do you think is maybe the biggest area of improvement that you've had since
02:14season 11?
02:15Like what do you think will surprise fans the most about Plastique on All Stars 9?
02:19Oh, you know, I had the opportunity to really travel the world the past five years and I
02:25have learned to, uh, you know, I've learned from so many amazing colleagues like Bianca,
02:30Naomi, Bob, Monet, Kim, like all these like powerhouse.
02:35And I've really, um, not only improved my drag and my craft and, um, but I've improved
02:41as a person.
02:42I've, you know.
02:43Shut up.
02:44What the f**k we're filming.
02:45But yeah, I've learned a lot from my colleagues about, you know, being professional.
02:53No, I've learned a lot from them and I've improved not only through my drag, but with
02:58myself as a person and, you know, I've overcome a lot with my family and, um, kind of just
03:05stay up mine and coming back here.
03:07It's more of a showcase of who I've become and who I am rather than to compete, which
03:13is I think the best day of mine to be.
03:15I also went to Vietnam last year, um, for the first time in 14 years since I've been
03:19gone.
03:20Um.
03:21And what was that like for you?
03:23It was absolutely mind blowing.
03:25It was really, really refreshing because, you know, when I left, it was no, there was
03:32no drag influences anywhere.
03:35You know, I didn't even know what drag queens were, you know, any gay characters on TV were
03:39mocked as, you know, comical or, you know, below society.
03:44So coming back, I go to these Loto shows and these bars and all these people and they just
03:50come up to me and they're like, thank you for bringing Vietnamese drag to the world.
03:55And shortly after that, I got the call to be on All Stars 9.
03:58So I think it was more of a, you know, a sign.
04:02So of course I said yes.
04:03Yes.
04:04And also spreading awareness of Beyonce to other parts of the world.
04:08Yeah.
04:09I still don't know who that is.
04:10Like, do y'all like, who, like, how do you spell that?
04:13I don't know.
04:14We can try.
04:15How do you think you spell it?
04:17P...
04:18Beyonce.
04:19That's, we'll get there.
04:20We'll get there someday.
04:21Gosh, crazy names out here.
04:22Well, I also heard that you had declined All Stars 6 previously.
04:31Were you asked before?
04:33And like, I'm just wondering why maybe the time didn't feel right then and now this felt
04:37like the right time.
04:38I've been asked back multiple times.
04:40However, I think that, you know, like I said, when I went to Vietnam and I was, you know,
04:45welcomed with open arms and everyone was very kind and loving towards me.
04:50And I wanted to come back for a little while now, but I just, the timing has to be right.
04:55It's all about timing.
04:56I can, you can be ready all you want, but if your timing is wrong, girl, you screw up
05:00your chance.
05:01You know what I mean?
05:02So I just felt in my heart that this was the right time and, you know, I was ready.
05:06I was prepared and I'm there to showcase what I've got.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Do you feel like you made yourself proud on this season?
05:17Absolutely.
05:19Everyone is a powerhouse in their own way.
05:21And being able to compete with this cast is just a dream because I got to push myself
05:26to pretty much the limit and then surprising myself too at the end of the day.
05:30And I was like, wow, I really can do this, you know, and go off.
05:36So I guess we just have to tune in and see.
05:39Is there anything maybe heading into All-Stars 9 that you still looked at from season 11
05:45as maybe like a hurdle or maybe a misconception about you within the fandom that you wanted
05:49to correct on All-Stars 9?
05:51You know, when I was younger, I used to be a people pleaser, I still am, but I used to
05:56be more of that.
05:57And, you know, I just wanted to come back and be like, oh, I'm going to show them what
06:01I've got.
06:02I'm going to show them that I can like turn a look and that I can act and I can do all
06:06these things.
06:07You know, throughout the years, I'm just like, I don't really care what anyone has to say.
06:11What I brought is my own experience and what I've learned throughout the way.
06:16And when I come back, I present to you, it's another experience.
06:20At the end of the day, it's all me in the process.
06:22And I try to live life with no regrets.
06:25So absolutely no, no regrets.
06:27No, yeah, no regrets on anything.
06:29I love that.
06:30I think that that's a good, that's a good springboard to sort of go into an All-Star
06:34season, which is because you're not anchoring yourself to maybe something in the past and
06:40just exploring and showing yourself.
06:42Exactly.
06:43Yeah.
06:44You know, I hate when girls are just like, oh, I want to show people what, you know,
06:49what I was missing.
06:50I'm like, well, I could have done it last time, but, you know, you didn't.
06:55And that's OK.
06:56You know, just accept it.
06:57You know, it's going to be OK.
07:00Well, R.I.P. to every single other answer of Plastique's All-Stars 9 sisters to that question.
07:05Hi.
07:06No, I'm just kidding.
07:07They didn't know.
07:08Xin chào.
07:09You were eliminated on season 11 after a lip sync with your sister, Vangie, on this season.
07:14Yes.
07:15So were there any maybe like lingering feelings about that?
07:19And did you get revenge this season?
07:21Oh, my goodness.
07:22No, there was absolutely no revenge wanted, needed.
07:27I think me and Vangie has built amazing careers off of season 11.
07:32Coming back, it was more of like a reunion.
07:34You know, it was like when we all graduated, like, you know, I didn't go to college.
07:39I went to like beauty school.
07:40But, you know, if I were to graduate top of my class and meet another top of the class,
07:44you know, it's kind of like that feeling.
07:45I'm like, oh, wow, I'm so proud of you, you know, and the feeling is mutual with everyone.
07:50Yeah.
07:51So no, no vengeance.
07:52But we'll see.
07:53Well, yeah, I mean, because we do have some twists that are twisting this season.
07:58Some twists are twisting.
07:59We'll see.
08:00We'll see.
08:01And that's not my back handling this wig.
08:04How did you feel about the twist this season?
08:06Oh, my gosh, I loved it.
08:07I loved it so much.
08:09You know, I guess it's pretty much why I came back.
08:12You know, I want to show everything I got with no scared of, you know, not showing what
08:20I got, you know, like, yeah, honestly, like, I love the challenges.
08:24I love acting.
08:25I love doing Snatch Game.
08:26I love doing all that.
08:28But I'm here for the looks.
08:30The looks are why I watched Drag Race and the looks this season, girl, the budget.
08:36I have got to say the looks are some of the best packages you have ever, ever seen on
08:43Drag Race.
08:44It's never foreseen out of this world.
08:47You know, I've heard that story many, many times.
08:49But this time, it is something that is never before seen.
08:53Like, everyone gags everyone.
08:56It is crazy, crazy.
08:58Who do you think had, and you can't say yourself, who do you think had of your All-Star Sign
09:03sisters the biggest glow up from season to season?
09:05Oh, the biggest glow up, I think it's Georges.
09:09I've known Georges the longest.
09:12I've known her when she was 17 years old and I was 18 years old.
09:18We were doing drag together in Dallas.
09:22She was in San Antonio and she would drive over to my bar and we would do amateur nights
09:26together.
09:27So just seeing her grow up over the years, I got on Drag Race and then she got on Drag
09:31Race and now we're on the same All-Stars together.
09:34It's really a full circle moment.
09:36I think we're just meant to be in each other's lives.
09:40I'm so proud of her.
09:41She's like my little sister.
09:42I see so much of myself in her the first time and, you know, seeing her grow up throughout
09:47these past few years has been really amazing.
09:50So you saw her when she was starting drag as only three years old and now she's only
09:54nine.
09:55Yes.
09:56And I'm like 35.
09:57So old.
09:58Well, I do want to, I want to go back to that lip sync that I was talking about with Vanjie
10:03for a moment because you did, this moment, I got emotional watching it when you did a
10:07tribute to Alyssa and that lip sync when you put your leg up on the stage.
10:11I just, I love when queens do little things like that.
10:14It just, it got to me in the right moment.
10:15Did she have any feedback or like a message after you, you got, you did that to her?
10:20You know, Alyssa is honestly one of the kindest people I've ever met.
10:25She is a true diva and with the heart of gold ever since day one, she always said that you're
10:32going to be a star and I, and honestly, she's probably the first person who ever believed
10:37in me or looked at me in that way.
10:40And it gave me so much, so much joy and so much, you know, motivation to move forward.
10:46So I can like literally take her s*** on TV and she'd be like, you're a star.
10:50She'd be like work.
10:51She'd be like, yes, daughter, you did that.
10:53And I love that for me and for her.
10:56Did you do that on All Stars 9?
10:58Um, that will be a very expensive booking.
11:03I don't know if All Stars 9 has the budget for that, but um, I don't know.
11:08We'll see.
11:10Did she have any, cause she has some of the best All Stars moments of all time.
11:14Did she have any perspective or advice to share with you for All Stars?
11:17We have like this trust in each other where like when she does something and I see it,
11:23I'm just like, wow, that's my mom.
11:25So it was, it was really nice.
11:27So she was like, I showed her some of my, some of my looks and she's like, yeah.
11:31She's like, yes, yes.
11:34I think, okay, the same way we were, um, clocking Nina's saying the word, um, intentional in
11:40her interview, we're going to clock with a counter.
11:42How many times Klastika's tongue popped in this interview, I think.
11:45Um, so there we go.
11:46There's another one right there.
11:47It's like my gay voice.
11:48I don't ever do this in real life.
11:50I don't like, I don't talk like this.
11:52I really don't do it.
11:53I think it's probably a coping mechanism.
11:55It's the drag.
11:56Drag is a possession.
11:57Oh yes, for sure.
11:58It's literally a possession.
11:59I should really talk to my therapist about this.
12:00Maybe.
12:01No, it is interesting.
12:03I think seeing you back on the show after there's been a lot of debate about Queens
12:06joining the show after starting drag on like Tik Tok or Instagram, there's debates among
12:11the cast sometimes like sugar and spice last year, we saw there be a lot of talk about
12:15that.
12:16Um, some people I think still see social media as like a good foundational, uh, platform
12:21for drag and other people still think there's like a stigma around it.
12:24Like now that you are so immersed in that world and you've introduced drag to, I think
12:29people that normally wouldn't, I mean even watch a show like drag race, there's people
12:34on Tik Tok that are just consuming your content so much.
12:36So how do you feel about that whole debate and if Tik Tok and social media is the future
12:41of where drag is going?
12:42I think it's like really, um, dumb, um, like that's like saying like, you know, like you,
12:52you do the same job, but like I was a hairstylist, right?
12:55Okay.
12:56That's like saying, Oh, you color hair, but you were like doing this at this salon in
13:00this town.
13:01It's the same thing and you're just doing it at, it's, it's just another platform.
13:06It's just another location.
13:08You know, you don't define what drag is.
13:10You know, some people just perform and you, you don't know how to edit a video, you know,
13:14how to do transitions.
13:15You don't know how to do a brand deal.
13:17And these girls, they're, you know, cashing brand deals, but maybe they have not performed
13:21like once or twice, but you know, it's the same thing.
13:24You're doing drag, but just on another platform.
13:27Um, so I don't think there should be any differentiation among that.
13:32And I think the world is moving into a, into a place where being good on social media is
13:39such an important skill to have.
13:42Like that is your LinkedIn, like, yeah, like my Instagram is my LinkedIn, like they are
13:46looking at the numbers.
13:47They're looking at everything, you know what I mean?
13:50So I think I came on the season where being a social media queen was dubbed as bad because,
13:56um, you know, you don't know how to perform like a true queen knows how to perform great.
14:04Of course, but the world is moving into a place where you really don't got to perform
14:09anymore.
14:10Sweets.
14:11You can just DJ.
14:12You can just do deals.
14:13You can just do transition all day long.
14:15Drag is changing.
14:16So get with it or get out.
14:18Yeah, no, I, I agree with that.
14:20I think there's, it's fully changing.
14:21It's just, it's, you're just still doing the art form or just doing it, like you said,
14:25and a different location.
14:26I think that's a really simple and great way of putting it.
14:28It's, it's, you're adapting the art form to as technology adapts.
14:32So it's, and like I said, you have through this platform exposed a lot of people, kids,
14:39especially I think who want or are curious about this and are maybe young queer kids
14:43themselves.
14:44They're all on TikTok and they're seeing you do this stuff and it's opening a lot of eyes
14:47that cause like a kid can't go to a bar.
14:50No, absolutely not.
14:51So it's, I think it's an important thing for that is an important educational tool.
14:54I think.
14:55Yeah.
14:56You know, like RuPaul's Drag Race is a mainstream TV show about drag Queens.
15:00You wouldn't see that about 20 years ago.
15:02You have to go to a bar to find a drag queen, you know, like this is mainstream now the
15:06world is changing.
15:07RuPaul is out here doing reels and transitions.
15:10Yeah.
15:11Mother, my mommy is out here doing transitions.
15:16Get with it.
15:17How is that relationship going?
15:18What is the, with the day to day as RuPaul being your mother, what's she cook you breakfast
15:22in the morning?
15:23Yes.
15:24And then she teach me who Beyonce is, so I still don't know who that is, but she's not
15:29doing a good job.
15:30She's not doing a very good job, but you know, when she dies, maybe I'll have the inheritance.
15:35She's not dying.
15:36She's going to be Robo RuPaul.
15:37It's going to be the year 3000 and it's just going to be Robo RuPaul hosting.
15:40So sorry, Busty.
15:42I better upload that iCloud real quick.
15:43I know.
15:44Oh my God.
15:45If you're a hacker, contact me.
15:48No!
15:49Hack RuPaul!
15:50Well, you also made, it's another element of social media, I guess, is there's a lot
15:56of, for lack of a better word, like a thirst trap video, I would say.
15:59And I know that this word is so far removed from what it actually means, but in the drag
16:03race fan definition of the word, were you laying the foundation for being trade of the
16:07season on an all-star season?
16:11Oh my goodness.
16:12This is going to sound really bad, but I never thought I was good looking until I was posting
16:17on social media.
16:18And then I got the approval from the audience to tell me that, you know, I look presentable.
16:26And as a non-confident kid who, you know, moved over here with no English and I had,
16:33you know, nothing, but just like this phone and people online telling me that, you know,
16:37I was good at what I do.
16:38That means a lot to me.
16:39So I kept doing, kept doing it.
16:41So it was what built my confidence.
16:43I wouldn't say that I'm the trade of the season by any means.
16:46That word has, you know, in the ground and we should just bury that word forever.
16:52But to have a Asian man out here transforming from a good looking man to a good looking
16:58woman is a representation that is missing in the world.
17:03So I'm happy to fill that role.
17:05Yeah.
17:06Very great answer.
17:07Very, very good answer.
17:08I have to imagine you've gotten some wild DMs after those thirst traps though.
17:12Oh my gosh.
17:13Well, you know, I do love money and I love the traction.
17:17I love the traction.
17:18So keep it coming.
17:19Yeah, there we go.
17:20You also had an interesting appearance on the Pit Stop with Bianca last year.
17:26It was so funny.
17:27I watched it like three times.
17:29It was so funny.
17:30You know why?
17:31Because I was so mad that day because they were going to give me, they were like, oh,
17:35you're judging the ball.
17:36And I was like, okay, I'm going to get up.
17:38And I was like, okay, I'm ready to judge some looks out here.
17:40And they were like, you're doing the comedy episode.
17:42And I was like, oh, you're going to get Plastique Tiara to judge our comedy episode.
17:46Okay.
17:47Plastique.
17:48Why don't we now read some of the ball looks from last season?
17:52This is your moment.
17:53What do you want to say about the ball?
17:54Buggers.
17:55Chop all of them.
17:56Okay.
17:57There we go.
17:58We got it.
17:59We gave you that moment now.
18:00Thank you so much.
18:01I need it back.
18:02You did kind of famously freak out though when Bianca asked about it still, I'm sorry.
18:06It still makes me laugh.
18:07Footwear during sex.
18:08You're the type of girl that just wears socks during sex, don't you?
18:11Why?
18:12Just asking.
18:13Socks?
18:14Which it seems like you would, like you don't have time to take it all off.
18:15You're like, and get out of here.
18:17Capizio socks.
18:18Why was that such a shocking thing for you?
18:21Honestly, I was on such a high that day where, you know, it's like kind of like now where
18:27I'm like, what are we talking about?
18:29Where am I?
18:30You know?
18:31And then in that moment, I kind of like disassociated and then she bring up socks.
18:33I was like, wait, what?
18:34What do you mean socks?
18:36Me and Bianca has a very interesting relationship.
18:39We're like friends, but we're also like different, very different.
18:43But I also like, am a huge fan of her.
18:46And she'd like things of me as like this kid, but we're also like, I teach her something
18:50and she's teaching me something.
18:51So where were they going with this?
18:53Is she your mommy now too?
18:54She's like my auntie.
18:55Maybe she'll teach me all Beyonce.
18:57Yes.
18:58Finally.
18:59She tried to on that, on that pizza.
19:01She tried.
19:02Oh.
19:03She tried.
19:04So Bianca made over Bob on YouTube, which was such an incredible moment for Bob.
19:10She looked really, really, really good.
19:13What did you do differently to Bob that you would recommend Bob keeps doing in the future
19:18after that makeover?
19:19I blended.
19:20I'm going to give the Bob and Peppermint fingers.
19:25And she knows this too.
19:26I just like it because she has a really pretty face.
19:30She has like the softest features with like the prettiest, like skinty little nose.
19:36And I literally just dusted something on and she was a woman.
19:38And I was just like, wow.
19:40I wish I could just like, and she has no eyebrows.
19:42So it was so easy to draw it on.
19:44I'm like, you can do your makeup in like 15 minutes if you wanted to.
19:46But no.
19:47Well, Bob, I hope you're listening.
19:51Sibling rivalry.
19:52This is what you get for not inviting me.
19:55I'm just kidding.
19:56So I have been asking everybody what they have stole from set.
20:00So did you bring an item?
20:02Well, this is one of the items I stole from set.
20:05It's like the Anastasia Beverly Hills concealer.
20:07Anastasia Beverly Hills, yes.
20:09So they were like very strict.
20:11The first day I was like, okay, ladies do not take anything from the Anastasia stand.
20:17Like we need it for like setting every day.
20:19It's like very important.
20:21Day by day, I would go in and like take one or two things.
20:26And by the end, it was just like cleaned.
20:30So they should thank me because I cleaned up for them right before the season ends.
20:34So I got my own share of Anastasia a year supply.
20:38So that's already half the price.
20:41How many would you estimate are now in your possession?
20:43Oh my God.
20:44That last day, I just started like when they were like moving bins, I just started shoving
20:48in my bag.
20:50So I think I have like 10 concealers and then like five palettes that I give like to all
20:54my girlfriends.
20:55Like I give it to my mom and they're like, wow, this makeup is like really expensive.
20:58Like how did you buy it?
20:59I'm like, you know, I did this thing.
21:02So you are now set for life.
21:03You have a lifetime supply of Anastasia and you also now have the hard drive with all
21:07of your videos on it.
21:09So you're set for life.
21:10Nothing else.
21:11So Anastasia, please call me.
21:13I already got the year supply.
21:14So you just need to get me a $2,200,000 contract and we'll be good.
21:19That's right.
21:20She's already well on the way.
21:21Thank you.
21:22Who do you think is the shadiest queen on All Stars 9?
21:27And who separately do you think needs the Mistress Isabel Brooks drag delusion vaccine
21:31on the show?
21:32The shadiest queen this season?
21:35Oh my gosh.
21:36I feel like if you're like outright shady, you're just like really dumb for your career.
21:42Like that's just not the good move unless you're funny and you're like kind about it.
21:48But if you're shady and backtracks, then it's not a good move.
21:51But I don't think anyone does that on this season.
21:54Everyone really says it to the face.
21:56So I don't think that's shady.
21:57I think that's just like truth.
21:58Yeah.
21:59You know?
22:00Delusion?
22:01Yeah.
22:02Drag delusion.
22:03Who needs the vaccine?
22:04Maybe it's me.
22:05Why do you need it?
22:06Because I don't know where I am.
22:07Okay.
22:08I'll take that answer.
22:09Yes.
22:10I will absolutely take that answer.
22:11Plastique, thank you so much.
22:13This was a really fun interview.
22:14I am so glad that we did this.
22:17I cannot wait to see what you do on the season.
22:19I am so excited.
22:20And I'm sure the fans are too.
22:21Pleasure is all mine.
22:22Thank you so much, Joey.
22:23Thank you, Plastique.
22:24And stay tuned for more with the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars 9.
22:27See you!
