00:00 I'm here with Jack P. Sheppard, known to Corrie fans as David Platt, who's been involved in all sorts of storylines since the year 2000.
00:08 And here he is today, cutting the ribbon at the Holiday Inn in Blackpool.
00:12 David, how's it feel to be cutting the ribbon at this brand new hotel?
00:15 It's great, you know, I was just saying to a few of the staff actually in the area,
00:19 Blackpool's always been associated with Corrie, and going back to like Jack and Vera days, Bill Tarvey and Liz Dole, obviously they always used to come up to Blackpool.
00:33 And obviously Rita with the tram thing, the Alan Bradley thing, that was Blackpool.
00:38 And I've actually done a bit of filming, William Fleetwood actually, when the Platts went into the canal.
00:47 I don't know if people can remember that, but it was kind of a big storyline, and the Platts went into the canal in the Ford Galaxy.
00:55 They filmed the underwater stuff in a tank in Fleetwood, and we stayed in Blackpool for like a week.
01:03 And I must have been about 12, 13 I think, or 14 I was, 2003.
01:09 And Brian Capron, who played Richard Hillman, took me to Funny Girls, the nightclub, like the drag nightclub.
01:19 And I'd never seen anything like that, as 13, 14 year olds don't.
01:24 And they were like, "Is he old enough to come in here?" And Brian went, "Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, he's 16, 16, 16."
01:31 I went, "No, I'm not even 18 actually."
01:35 So yeah, I've got very, very fond memories of Blackpool.
01:39 And I think if ever we were to film a story or anything to do with it, then I'd definitely be putting my name in the hands of the comeback.
01:49 And you were here last year as well for the Waxworks. How does that feel?
01:52 Yes, of course. Overwhelming really.
01:57 I mean, it's not every day that Madame Tussauds ring you up and say, "We want to make a Waxworks of you."
02:02 Because we do. And you say, "Yeah, definitely."
02:09 They say, "Would you be alright with that?" And you say, "Yeah, definitely. What do you need me to do?"
02:14 And they were like, "Well, I mean, it's up to you. You can pose with the sculptor."
02:19 I was like, "Yes, we're doing it all. We're making sure it looks good. Whatever you need me to do to help."
02:25 And they were like, "Yeah, come down to London. Sit with the sculptor for a few hours just so it can look as close to you as possible."
02:36 And what did you think of the final thing? Because it looked pretty good.
02:39 I was blown away. Blown away. I think when you do look at it, especially if I try and pull the same look.
02:46 And the clothes that the characters, the models wear, they're given, Corrie gave the clothes.
02:51 They are the actual clothes of David Platt that he wore that I'd wear on set.
02:56 So, they're a genuine article. And I think if I'm stood side by side, I think it's very, very...
03:04 It's hard to tell. Even my mum had trouble looking at it. She was like, "I don't know which one's which."
03:10 But yeah, I was blown away. Really, really made up. And really proud. Really proud, I think.
03:17 And I think all my family were proud of, you know, that I've achieved that. You know what I mean?
03:25 I mean, it's big. It's a big deal. And yeah, it's in there and hopefully it stays there for quite some time.
03:34 Fantastic. And as far as Coronation Street goes, any big storylines? What's going on with it?
03:39 Well, yes. I don't know what they are. And even if I did, I wouldn't tell.
03:44 But I have been told that for the remainder of the year, it's going to be very Platt-heavy.
03:52 So, I think there's quite a few stories coming up for the Platts that I'll be involved with.
03:57 They just went, "Oh, you'll be busy. You'll be busy." So, that's always good. That's always good.
04:02 Tremendous. Thanks, Jack. Take care.
