00:27 testimony of the documentary was delivered by Drake and Josh star Drake Bell, who came forward as the anonymous
00:33 15-year-old abused by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck back in 2004.
00:39 But the docu-series also had multiple subjects share stories revolving around Nickelodeon's former Golden Boy producer and writer Dan Schneider.
00:47 Former employees, including child stars, accused Schneider of fostering a hostile work environment through gender discrimination,
00:55 angry outbursts, and more. Schneider released a sit-down interview after the docu-series premiered,
01:01 apologizing for some of his actions, but blaming other things such as inappropriate jokes in the shows discussed in the docu-series on the
01:08 Nickelodeon executives. The interview was met with widespread criticism and likely did not have the effect Schneider anticipated.
01:15 So now, nearly two months later, Variety is reporting Schneider is suing the producers of Quiet on Set for defamation.
01:23 A section of the lawsuit reads, "For the sake of clickbait, ratings, and views, or put differently, money,
01:28 defendants have destroyed Schneider's reputation and legacy through false statements and implications."
01:34 Schneider also sent an additional statement to Variety, which reads, "There is no doubt that I was sometimes a bad leader.
01:40 I am sincerely apologetic and regretful for that behavior, and I will continue to take accountability for it.
01:46 However, after seeing Quiet on Set and its trailer and the reactions to them,
01:50 I sadly have no choice but to take legal action against the people behind it.
01:55 They went beyond reporting the truth and falsely implied that I was involved in or facilitated horrific crimes,
02:00 for which the actual child predators have been prosecuted and convicted."
