Trick Or Treat Studios Halloween Dr. Sam Loomis Sixth Scale Figure
Transcript
00:00 Death has come to your little town sheriff. Here's a look at the brand new
00:04 Trick-or-Treat Studios Halloween Dr. Sam Loomis 1/6 scale figure.
00:10 Trick-or-Treat Studios is proud to present the officially licensed Halloween
00:24 1978 Dr. Loomis 1/6 scale figure. This poseable figure is approximately 12
00:29 inches tall and has 30 points of articulation. Fully clothed in screen
00:32 accurate costume this figure arrives in a beautiful collector's box with
00:36 flip-back window display. The evil is gone. Luckily though for fans of the
00:40 Halloween 1/6 scale figures the Trick-or-Treat Studios have been doing
00:43 so successfully well. Dr. Sam Loomis isn't. He in fact is still available over
00:47 on their site for $199.99. You can also as well pay four interest
00:51 reinstallments starting at $18.05. I'd like to thank the folks over at
00:55 Trick-or-Treat Studios that did provide the sample of the Halloween 1978 Dr. Sam
00:58 Loomis that we could have a look at in this review. The figure though stands
01:01 almost exactly 12 inches. He's a few hairs short of that.
01:06 No pun intended. The figure is also standing at about 30 centimeters
01:10 in height. It was the boogeyman. As a matter of fact it was. Two boogeyman in
01:15 fact. Here's what the figure first of all looks like with 1978 Michael Myers. In
01:18 fact also the first 1/6 scale figure we got from the Halloween line. Followed by
01:23 that we also did get ourselves the Dick Warlock Michael Myers also from
01:26 Halloween 2. In both cases both Mikes are actually taller than Dr. Loomis. The
01:30 dear doctor comes with his trademark trench coat. Deciding though to leave it
01:33 off for at least right now. We'll be going on the figure's body more in a
01:36 moment. But I also wanted to spend just as much time to talk about the amount of
01:39 tailoring that they did to the suit jacket and the pants. Something that may
01:42 get overlooked if you always have the figure displayed with the jacket on. You
01:45 can also as well display Dr. Loomis like you see in the TV Extended
01:48 cut where he's in the courtroom battling champion to keep Michael Myers
01:51 locked up forever. But again most collectors I'm sure will likely display
01:55 Loomis with a trench coat actually on. Before we actually do that though let's
01:59 look at the other accessories that come include the figure. He comes first of all
02:02 with a Smith & Wesson model 15 revolver. It heightens my sense of security. One
02:07 thing I was really surprised to see was that the actual chamber does rotate. A
02:10 nice little attention to detail. It's molded fairly well here in black plastic.
02:13 They also took the time to paint of course the handle there in brown. Some
02:16 additional yellow or slightly goldish yellow added also there on the top as
02:20 well. This does fit into his hands although not the hands that he has right
02:23 now. Don't worry though these relaxed hands will come off shortly. Well at least
02:27 this one will. The figure does come include with hands both for well both
02:30 sides really. He comes with first of all a closed fist that will then belong on
02:34 this side of the figures body but then on this side you can pop that hand off
02:37 from the provided peg and in favor of that you can swap it out for a trigger
02:40 hand instead. This is ideally suitable for holding obviously the gun. We're
02:44 going to take the Smith & Wesson just fit it in between the palm here. I find
02:47 it's easiest honestly to do this with his hands first loose and then just pop
02:52 the hands off from the peg and then just replace them accordingly. So let's do
02:55 that right now. Let's take Loomis' one hand at least. We're going to pop it off
02:58 the peg. Now you only get the pegs that are right now on the ends of his forearms.
03:02 You don't get an extra set of these so if you happen to pop the hand pegs off
03:05 like I've done a couple of times you want to make sure you just retrieve them
03:08 put them back where they belong. Remember we're just going to take the trigger
03:10 firing hand and then just peg it in place. Obviously the same thing goes, same
03:14 rule applies obviously when it comes to these hinge joints. They are very prone
03:17 to swiveling back and forth when you're trying to plug that in place. Anyways
03:21 though, get it in place and like in the movie you can also then take the
03:24 relaxed hand which I opted not to take off and you can cup the underhand just
03:28 kind of like that with the way Loomis holds his gun. Now this would be
03:32 much more effective obviously once we get the trench coat on him but you can
03:35 see how well that works with the figure. He doesn't really have any other
03:39 accessories. The only other thing I really would have probably wanted to
03:42 throw in with the figure is the little red matchbook box. I'll obviously just put
03:45 that maybe inside his pocket. Speaking of pockets though, he does have pockets
03:49 there on the sides of his suits although the flap is sewn shut. It's sewn here on
03:53 this side and this side so even though there is a functioning pocket in
03:56 there it would be obviously impossible to get anything actually in there. Let's
04:00 go ahead right now at least to take the revolver out of his hand because I know
04:03 that's just only gonna be something else as well too. I'm gonna want to
04:06 eventually remove the hands just to get the trench coat over top of his body.
04:09 Before we do that though obviously let's spend a little bit of quality time
04:13 talking about how good this head sculpt is. The only thing I would say is that
04:17 the skin tone seems a tad bit too dark. I think Loomis is a little bit lighter
04:21 than this in the actual movie but the likeness, the exquisite likeness of
04:25 Donald Pleasence is uncanny here. I think it looks definitely like the Dear
04:29 Doctor from all the sides. The coloring is also really quite good too. I think
04:32 they've done a nice job of painting this. Even the little hair that he has on the
04:35 back of his head for example is nicely done. There's a few little
04:38 airbrushed areas where you can see some of it has carried on to the neck but
04:41 other than that though, an exquisite looking head sculpt for Loomis. As I already
04:45 mentioned, again he does have the suit jacket and if you move that away you
04:48 can certainly see there's a nice looking shirt underneath. There doesn't seem to
04:51 be any visible buttons or anything like that. I mean not that the figure
04:54 necessarily needs and of course he does have his tied up tie. One thing I did do
04:58 though was the tie seemed a little loose when I took this out of the packaging so
05:01 I just tightened it up just a little bit so it was closer to the collar but the
05:04 jacket looks good. I mean look inside of it, the interior as you'll see also
05:08 when we look at the trench coat, they've spent just as much time again tailoring
05:11 the inside. Sometimes though when you look at sixth scale figures, especially
05:14 jackets, they usually have like little loose threads all hanging out like
05:17 this but you know they've done a really good job on its inside tailoring of the
05:21 jacket too. Now again you probably don't want to have the figure displayed like
05:23 this but you know again like just as much attention to detail as gets spent
05:27 to this and this as it was to this as well. Speaking of the trench coat, we'll
05:31 just get the figure to stand here for a second. One of the benefits also of the
05:35 figure too, actually you know what let's talk a little bit about that also as
05:37 well. They did give him generally flat feet like you would have in the movie. I
05:40 can't say though whether Loomis actually did have black socks in the movie but
05:44 they opted just to mold basically the socks and the shoe as one piece but the
05:47 feet like I said are fairly flat. The figure stands pretty good in fact. Now
05:51 let's look at the trench coat. The trench coat does look a little on the lighter
05:55 side. I feel like it would be a little bit darker like this in the movie. There
05:58 is some nice buttons that they've sewn on the sides here. The other side though
06:01 of the jacket doesn't actually have anything that... there seems to be slots
06:05 here where I guess if you could... no it doesn't look like it's it goes all the
06:10 way through. It looks like it starts on one side but doesn't look like it's a
06:12 full loop. So even if you wanted to you wouldn't be able to do the jacket up. I
06:15 don't know why anyone would really want to have done the jacket up anyways. You
06:18 really want to keep the jacket open. The inside of the actual stitching on the
06:22 inside and additional fabric they've done in white. I think that's correct or
06:26 it should be maybe like the coloring of this but either way though you're
06:29 probably only going to again be seeing it from this because of course this is
06:31 going to go over top the figure's body anyways. The one thing I will say though
06:34 about the jacket is especially when you're getting on the figure's body, it's
06:37 best advised to take the hands off first and the reasoning why I say that is when
06:42 you are putting the figure's jacket on, this has happened to me once already, if
06:47 you look at the inside lining for example it's a fairly soft enough
06:50 material and especially on the ends of the sleeves. If you put this on his hands
06:54 as it is right now without removing the hands obviously first, I find that the
06:57 inside lining tends to pull out and then you just see this really ugly
07:01 inside seam sticking out the inside lining. So it's best really to take the
07:05 hands off first and then we're just going to put that over top of his body.
07:08 So we're just going to bring his arms just back a little bit, we'll take the
07:11 arms that he has and just feed them through, tuck them all the way, make sure
07:15 you're feeding of course all these all the way up and you already see like if
07:19 you had the hands in place this liner is very prone to kind of sliding out. So you
07:24 want to make sure like keep the hands off first and then you can always add
07:26 the hands later. Just bring these all the way up, do it on both sides again
07:31 we just want to make sure this the inside, there we go, get that all the way
07:36 in there and then we're going to go ahead and grab ourselves the hands. We'll
07:38 grab this hand first, just pop that over top and again I'm sure when when it
07:44 comes to displaying this guy most people are probably going to be going more in
07:47 favor displaying him with the trench coat because it's just a trademark
07:50 classic look to Loomis. Bring that over top of his body, it also does of course
07:55 give him some necessary volume as well and again like having that now over top
07:59 of his existing jacket, boy does that ever look really good. One thing I was
08:03 really nice to see is that they also have functioning pockets on the sides. So
08:06 again if you wanted to store anything else also in there like for example if
08:09 you didn't want to have the figure display with his gun, I don't know why you
08:11 wouldn't want to, you could really tuck the gun actually into one of his pockets.
08:15 There's enough depth inside of there. But yeah I mean definitely when it comes
08:18 to displaying the figure, trench coat it all the way the way I'm going to be
08:21 going. I mean it definitely does make the figure look complete, it definitely does
08:24 make Loomis look more like Loomis but I do like the idea that really if you did
08:28 want to taking off the jacket, there's just as much of a finished jacket
08:31 underneath. Now for the figure's articulation, Loomis is going to possess
08:35 a ball joint in the top of his head so of course the head does rotate all the
08:38 way around. If you're looking at actually the way they've sculpted the head, the
08:41 head is not attached where the head is a separate piece from like the neck for
08:44 example. If you bring this all the way down you can actually see the head and
08:47 the neck are all one piece. It gives you at least more of a seamless look to
08:51 Loomis's head and the ball joint basically is just attached to the base
08:54 of the neck. Despite that though, the figure does actually have quite a range
08:57 of motion. It does look up, looks down, you can also rotate it back and forth as
09:01 well and you can also slightly nod it to the side. He isn't human! As for his arms,
09:06 his arms come out easily at 90 degrees even though there's really a lot
09:09 of layers happening here. You've got of course the shirt layer material
09:12 underneath, you got then the brown jacket over top of it and then you got the
09:15 trench coat over all that. You would think that that would be enough to limit
09:18 some of the articulation on the figure's shoulders but doesn't seem to be the
09:21 case. Loomis moves his arms quite easily and freely. You can also swivel the arms
09:25 there at the bicep. The figure does also have a double hinge on the elbow and the
09:29 hands do rotate all the way around. Loomis's upper torso appears to be on a
09:32 ball joint. There seems to be also a waist swivel as well. The legs split out.
09:37 Not that you're probably gonna be having Loomis displayed like this. You can bring
09:40 the legs forward, of course bring them back, swivel at the top of the thigh,
09:43 double hinge on the knee and again you've got your articulation here on the
09:46 ankle. Certainly when we first saw images of Loomis online, I
09:52 was super excited. The idea that not only were we getting treated to the stuff
09:56 that we're getting... let me just grab one of the Michael Myers over here... the fact
10:00 that we did already get ourselves Michael Myers and how many movies
10:03 of Mikey's did we actually get? Quite a lot! I was always kind of hoping that we
10:06 would get eventually a Dr. Loomis and now that we do, Loomis looks fantastic. I
10:10 wonder though if we are eventually gonna be getting ourselves a Laurie Strode.
10:14 Maybe not one from the 2018. I don't know if I need really a 2018 version of
10:18 Laurie Strode but at the very least 1978 Laurie Strode or hey why not using that
10:22 existing mold they could then branch off and do a Halloween 2 Laurie Strode
10:26 wearing her bed gown. Speaking though of reusing molds also too, I mean obviously
10:30 the very obvious thing too is that they could take the mold of Loomis that
10:33 they have right now. They really wouldn't have to do much in a way of different
10:36 for his body but why not re-sculpt a brand new face piece, a head piece and
10:40 release a Halloween 4 with the little egg-shaped scar that he has on the side
10:44 of the cheek. Again, using the mold that they already have now in their inventory
10:48 and releasing a second version of Loomis. Sign me up for that. Well I may not know
10:52 what death is but I certainly know what a good Loomis is. The one that we get
10:55 here from Trick-or-Treat Studios. Not to diminish obviously customizers out there
10:58 that for the years have been filling the void that other companies haven't been
11:01 able to do by putting out some really cool six scale figures and not only
11:05 Michael Myers but Dr. Loomis as well. That's been fine and good but obviously
11:08 if you don't have that kind of money to go out and start shelling out the
11:11 thousand dollars or so to get themselves a custom version of
11:14 Dr. Sam Loomis like they've done so well with the Halloween property and the
11:17 other Michael Myers. I mean one thing that Trick-or-Treat Studios, you could say at
11:21 least, have given an opportunity to fans of the franchise by making more
11:25 affordable six scale figures that anybody can own. If you have $199, if you
11:30 have the $200 asking price for any one of the Michael Myers or now Dr. Loomis,
11:33 you can now have yourself finally the dear doctor to be the bane, the foil for
11:38 Michael Myers and the figure looks fantastic. The head sculpt perfectly
11:41 captures Donald Pleasence of course who made the role famous over the many years
11:45 and many sequels of Halloween. This is kind of more the 78 version of Loomis
11:49 which I think again looks pretty good, pretty accurate to the way that the
11:53 actor looked. The skin is a little on the darker side, the jacket is a little on
11:57 the lighter side but I think still it captures enough the look of Loomis that
12:01 whether you want to display the figure with or without the trench coat. I mean I
12:03 did say though in the TV extended cut he's inside the courtroom without the
12:07 jacket obviously but there's other scenes obviously also in the 78 classic
12:10 film where Loomis is just walking around with his jacket like when he's walking
12:13 for example in the cemetery first discovering the fact that Judith Myers
12:17 tombstone has been ripped out of the ground and somewhat carried away
12:21 by this man that isn't human. The figure does come in close and necessary
12:24 accessories obviously the revolver being the biggest one, some swappable hands. I
12:28 mean they could have thrown in obviously the little matchbook there too as well
12:31 but that's just a small accessory that you never know they could release down
12:35 the road as part of an accessory set or they could also as well include other
12:39 additional accessories when perhaps we might get ourselves an egg-shaped
12:43 scarring cheek of Dr. Loomis in Halloween 4. I mean considering again
12:47 this is something I mentioned in this review that they already have this mold
12:50 anyways it's I would imagine it wouldn't take much other than just getting the
12:53 licensing down for Halloween 4. They could not just simply retool the head
12:57 that he has right now and just release a Halloween 4 Dr. Loomis. Who else would be
13:01 interested in that? If you guys though are interested and would like to get your
13:04 hands on Dr. Loomis here he is available as of right now over on Trick-or-Treat
13:07 Studios website. You may want to get it fast though because the chances of this
13:11 dear doctor sticking around may be slim to none especially if he's trying to
13:14 push and pursue the boogeyman. Big thank you once again to the folks over at
13:17 Trick-or-Treat Studios that did provide the sample of the brand new Halloween
13:21 1978 Dr. Sam Loomis that we had the chance to have a look at this review. If
13:25 you guys did enjoy this video I want to throw it a like, if you guys are loving
13:27 the content you guys are seeing and you like to stick around for more, popping up
