Home turf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bastion for 25 years, Gujarat has witnessed a continuous withering of the opposition. However, there is a sense of dissatisfaction among some communities.

The saffron party is still confident of winning the polls with an overwhelming majority even as the election fervour is missing this year.

00:02 Over the past few days,
00:06 we've been traversing through various parts of Gujarat,
00:09 which goes to polls in a single phase on May 7th.
00:12 When it comes to Gujarat,
00:13 people often talk about the Gujarat model of development.
00:17 However, as we've seen over the past few days,
00:19 this model of development seems to be favoring
00:21 only a certain section of the society.
00:24 Citizens in areas like Juhapura
00:28 or Daryapur in old Ahmedabad,
00:30 and even on the outskirts of Ahmedabad
00:32 in areas like Charanagar,
00:33 the citizens there have raised concerns
00:36 that the government is negligent of the issues.
00:40 On the other hand, there has also been a searing silence
00:42 regarding elections this year in Gujarat.
00:45 There are hardly any rallies taking place.
00:47 There are hardly any panels by parties.
00:50 It's only now that some posters are cropping up
00:53 which celebrate the achievements of the government.
00:57 Given the recent political developments,
00:59 especially considering the Shatrughna protest
01:01 and the dissatisfaction raised
01:03 by the minority communities in Gujarat,
01:05 it will still be an interesting fight for the BJP,
01:08 which is so far confident of winning this election.
01:11 That's all from Gujarat.
01:14 Stay tuned for more election coverage.
