00:00Evolution was very very right and evolution was a very commendable teacher till the time
00:09you were living in the jungle.
00:13Because everything that evolution has taught you has helped you survive the jungle.
00:19Evolution has been a great friend.
00:21The only problem is you have moved ahead too fast.
00:27You have moved ahead of evolution just too fast.
00:34Just too fast and you have come too far.
00:36And evolution is moving its own snail pace.
00:40Are you getting it?
00:44Don't you see how far you have come?
00:50Compare yourself to a chimpanzee.
00:55Now you are a man and a chimpanzee is a chimpanzee.
00:58But your basic instincts are still that of the chimpanzee.
01:02Now how will there be a fit?
01:06You are reading Krishnamurti.
01:08The chimpanzee is chewing at those juicy leaves.
01:12But if your basic instincts are just like those of the chimpanzee, then you will be
01:17thinking of chewing the paper while reading Krishnamurti.
01:23Because all that the chimpanzee is evolutionary trained to do is chew.
01:30So even when you are reading Krishnamurti, you will want to chew the paper.
01:34Have you not seen that happen with kids 3 or 4 years old when they start going to school?
01:39Some of them chew their books.
01:42Because that's what young chimps are supposed to do, chew, chew throughout the day.
01:52So unfortunately for you, you have moved ahead, you have shot ahead of evolution with a great
01:59speed.
02:00Evolution is now standing there.
02:02But you are not prepared to give up the lessons that evolution taught you.
02:07Most of that which human beings do today is still driven by man's evolutionary instincts.
02:15Sex, greed, fear, attachment.
02:20All of these are evolutionary traits.
02:22If you can see how you and the monkey are exactly the same as far as sex, fear, lust
02:29and attachment are concerned, you will probably not want to show down the monkey.
02:43The monkey is at least right in its place.
02:46Monkey needs all those things to survive.
02:49The monkey needs attachment.
02:53The monkey needs fear and therefore all that is alright if the monkey exhibits it.
03:01But you do not need all those things and you are still carrying them.
03:05So you are the real monkey.
03:09Are you getting it?
03:13The monkey needs to be afraid of the night.
03:17So if the monkey is afraid of the night, it is good for him.
03:21Man does not need to be afraid of the night.
03:23But man is still afraid of the night.
03:25Because the monkey within the man exists and is too slow to go away.
03:34You know how slow he is?
03:37Evolution causes changes at a very feeble pace.
03:43It takes millions of years.
03:45Are you prepared to wait millions of years?
03:50And millions of years will be needed only if your progress is stopped in its tracks
03:59where it is today.
04:06The difference between your intellectual position and your evolutionary position is increasing
04:13day by day.
04:19So technology is giving you great stuff but you are responding to it in a chimpanzee way.
