00:00 As the administration considers bringing Palestinians here to the U.S. as refugees, do you know
00:07 how many people that the U.S. hopes to relocate? And secondly, given the challenges getting
00:15 in and out of Gaza, will the U.S. assist in physically bringing Palestinians here?
00:23 So let me just first start saying that we just don't have anything to announce at this
00:27 time, but I do want to lay out a little bit and take a step back of what we've been able
00:32 to do since the beginning of the conflict. We have helped more than 1,800 American citizens
00:38 and their families leave Gaza, many of whom have come to the United States. Many of that
00:42 18,000 is here. And the President has said, and with his direction, we have also helped
00:49 and will continue to help some particularly vulnerable individuals, such as children with
00:53 serious health problems and children who were receiving treatment for cancer, get out of
00:58 harm's way, and receive care at nearby hospitals in the region.
01:02 And let's not forget the President, this administration, continues to be the largest contributor of
01:07 humanitarian assistance. This is something that the Secretary is going to be talking
01:12 about in this hour, the humanitarian assistance going into Gaza to address the conditions,
01:17 the humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Obviously, as we know, they are very dire, and we are
01:22 pressing hard to get more urgently needed aid in to more people as soon as possible.
01:27 That's why this hostage deal is so critical, besides, of course, getting the hostages home,
01:33 but also creating an opportunity to get that more additional humanitarian aid in and would
01:38 lead to a ceasefire.
01:39 Now, in terms of the Refugee Admissions Program, which is what I believe you're asking me about,
01:44 we are constantly evaluating policy proposals to further support Palestinians who are family
01:49 members of American citizens and may want to come to the United States. So we're evaluating
01:55 it. I don't have anything to announce at this time.
01:57 And then a quick one on the communications with protests and people related to protests.
02:04 Has the President spoken to Mayor Adams since the NYPD became involved in dealing with them?
02:10 No. I understand the question. I don't have anything to read out as far as a conversation
02:14 with the Mayor from the President, but I think we've been very, very clear about what we're
02:19 seeing on the ground. I've been answering these questions for the past couple of days.
02:22 Go ahead.
02:23 Thanks. You said the President is monitoring the situation. Is he aware of the reports
02:27 that a fair number of the people arrested on several campuses are not students?
02:32 Look, that is something for, obviously, local government to speak to, local police and law
02:40 enforcement to speak to, and what they're seeing and what they're reporting. That is
02:44 something that I can't speak to at this time. I've heard that reporting, but that is something
02:49 for them to speak to at this time.
02:50 But he's not aware of that?
02:52 Well, he's getting regularly updated on the situation and monitoring. So I assume that
02:57 he's getting – that's part of his update, but he is getting regularly updated on what's
03:01 happening across the country and campuses.
