In 1944, in southern England, Allied troops were getting ready to land in Normandy.

US soldier Jack Lieb was there with his amateur camera. On D-Day, John Ford shot in color with his camera crews.

His Hollywood colleague George Stevens also landed in northern France with his team on 6 June 1944.

Those men documented the advance and finally the liberation of Paris up close.
