00:00I just started the pace and actually I felt really really good and then I just
00:08tried to keep going and because I felt at least I was also struggling a little
00:12bit in my wheels so I just tried to to give it my very very all till the very
00:17end and I hope I can get already some time on her and yeah that worked out so
00:23that's really nice and yeah hopefully a few more nice days coming for our team
00:33Demi Follering finally landed her first win of 2024 yesterday and in some style
00:39the SD works pro-time leader setting out her stool as she looks to land a second
00:44Grand Tour win after last year's Tour de France fam she could even increase her
00:49advantage on this sixth stage of La Vuelta Femenina as we head to La Laguna
00:53Negra for another summit finish the terrain is pretty lumpy for the first 30
01:01K or so but things then flatten out until we reach the final climb La Laguna
01:06Negra is 6.5 kilometers at 6.8 percent with maximum gradients of 14 percent so
01:12it's definitely not one for the faint of heart there were three non starters
01:19today including Gaia Raiolini and Kasia Niewiadoma the Italian suffering with
01:24chest and elbow pain and concussion after her crash yesterday while the pole
01:28has been battling illness since the Ardennes Classics who wish them both a
01:32speedy recovery meanwhile after a host of attacks four riders got into the
01:37breakaway Laura Molinar from Volker Wessels, Favre Bastiansson from Lotto
01:41Destiny, Claudio San Justo from Eneacat CM team and Aurelien Nailer from
01:47Winspace they quickly opened a two-minute gap on the peloton containing
01:51our new race leader Demi Follering another big day ahead for the Dutch
01:55champion who was delighted to take victory in her national jersey yesterday
02:00there was then an unfortunate crash for Annick van Alphen of Fenix de Koenig who
02:05appeared to hit a bidon with her back wheel the Dutch woman being checked out
02:09by the medical staff and she was sadly forced to abandon the race the gap had
02:15gone up to nearly four minutes when Visma Lisebaik looked to up the tempo in
02:18the peloton Eva Van Ackt trying to go clear but that move was quickly shut down
02:24SD Werks, Lidl Trek and Liv Alula-Jayko moving to the front of the bunch as
02:29things settled down again the mood in the peloton was fairly relaxed as they
02:34continued to wind their way towards the final climb the gap to the four rider
02:38breakaway remaining steady at around three minutes the pace gradually began
02:44to creep up again as they embarked on the last 30 kilometers with Blanka Vaas
02:48and Mischa Bredevoort driving the peloton on behalf of Follering other GC
02:53teams began to get involved as well and with 20k to go they were closing on the
02:57breakaway Bastianson and Molenaar were the last women standing but Visma Lisebaik
03:03looked determined to bring the race back together before the intermediate
03:06sprints their leader Mariana Vos out to increase her lead in green
03:13Mariana Vos in the green jersey who is first over the line there for our sprint
03:18taking maximum points job done for Vos who is on course to win the points
03:23classification for the second year running but now it was all about the
03:26battle in the general classification as the peloton approached La Laguna Negra
03:30where Dan Martin and Jesus Harada have previously taken victory in the
03:34men's Vuelta. FDJ Suez taking control on the lower slopes of the climb with
03:40Grace Brown as riders like Mariana Vos began to drop. DSM Firminich also up
03:46there working for Juliette Labusse. Brown still plugging away but she soon had
03:51Marlon Reuter and Follering on the wheel. SD Werks pro time getting ready to
03:55strike still around 20 riders in this front group. Demi Vollering the red
04:01jersey wearer is on the front for the first time she still has teammate Marlon
04:05Reuter in this group but Reuter the Swiss national champion has dropped back
04:09well like yesterday there was no big attack from Follering she was happy to
04:14just keep grinding out this punishing tempo. Longa Borghini, Bauernfeind and
04:18Rihanna Marcus among those in the wheel. Fenix Deceuninck did try to shake things
04:23up a first move from Pauliena Royakas which was quickly shut down by
04:27Follering and then Yara Kastelein tried her luck but the race leader was in
04:32no mood to let anybody get away. Follering leading them into the final
04:36few hundred meters but could anybody stop her taking a second straight stage
04:41victory. Now Vollering goes clear under 600 meters to go and Vollering powers
04:47away Evita Music trying to respond trying to close that gap
04:53still Vollering pushes on on the wheel is Evita Music of FDG Suez but look at
04:59the damage that has been done Yara Kastelein trying to regain contact there
05:03Rihanna Marcus and Longa Borghini also just losing contact. Music makes her move
05:08now Evita Music unleashing her sprint in the final few meters now for FDG Suez
05:13and it is going to be a stage win for the French rider Evita Music takes the
05:17win at La Laguna Negra beating red jersey Demi Vollering. Evita Music
05:25putting in a brilliant performance to deny Vollering and take her first win of
05:29the season the former French champion adding to her victory at the Women's
05:33Giro d'Italia from 2020 and boosting her GC prospects after she lost time in the
05:38crosswinds on stage four. I was not 100% sure that I can do it and when I
05:44turned back and I saw that I was the only one on the wheel of Vollering I was
05:49just focusing not dropped and after yeah pass her and I'm very proud of what I
05:56have done because all the girls of my team did a really good job all the race
06:01to keep me in the first position and did the lead out and also the first part of
06:06the climb like they were amazing so it's also for her. Music hitting all the high
06:13notes today to take her fifth career victory ahead of Vollering cast the line
06:17at Marcus and Longo Borghini rounding out the top five with Bauernfeind and
06:21Labusse also at 21 seconds. Vollering may not have won the stage but she
06:26increases her lead to 56 seconds over Longo Borghini with Marcus now at 1
06:31minute and 14 and Labusse at 1.38. Music jumps up to sixth place. VAS has a solid
06:37advantage of 37 points in the green jersey standings with VAS not contesting
06:42today's intermediate sprints and Caroline Zwinkles still has the Queen of
06:46the Mountains jersey but only just. Vollering has joined her on 20 points
06:50with Music and cast the line on 16 apiece. Saturday's seventh stage is
06:56another punchy one potentially for the sprinters potentially for the breakaway.
07:00Do join us for that tomorrow and thanks for watching.
