01:18 and to have a slightly longer reach.
01:21 She can choose to use that
01:24 or she can try to test her own conditioning and athleticism.

01:35 As Munguia gets out of that corner and goes back to space.

01:41 This is the fourth fight of 2023 for her.
01:44 Ormsby taking the second fight of the year,
01:47 but before that she had a three-year layoff
01:49 between her professional debut and then her second fight.
01:54 Trying to make up for some lost time, though,
01:56 she's able to hand Gloria Munguia the first loss of her career.

02:04 The jab is very important for Shana.
02:05 She seems to jump in there.
02:07 She's going to throw a shot,
02:08 so the jab would keep it at a distance to be able to execute.
02:12 Yeah, and I don't think she can match
02:16 the quickness and punch selection of Munguia on the inside.
02:20 I think Munguia's going to get the better of every exchange.

02:25 That's the thing about Munguia.
02:26 She has yet to get the first stoppage of her career,
02:29 but the volume, it overwhelms her opponents a lot of the times.
02:33 She's very accurate with her punches, too.

03:04 Well, I think it's a good round for Gloria,
03:06 but I still think that Shana needs to use the jab a little more,
03:10 like Doug said, because she seems to crowd herself
03:12 and not give herself room to throw a shot.
03:14 So if she uses the jab first,
03:15 she'll be able to unload her right hand and get a left hook.
03:17 And what did you see from Gloria Munguia in that round, Doug,
03:21 that you liked or maybe would like to see changed?
03:23 I liked everything.
03:25 I was surprised she was as mobile as she was.
03:28 I was paying attention to that knee brace.
03:30 I was wondering, okay, is that going to affect her footwork?
03:33 Is that going to affect her lateral movement?
03:35 She seemed to move fluidly in there.
03:41 All right, seconds out here as we head into round number two.
03:44 Again, scheduled for five rounds.

03:52 TJ, one of the things I liked from Gloria in the opening round
04:06 was her head and upper body movement.
04:08 It wasn't just wading straight in.
04:11 It was involved in weaving to her,
04:13 cutting off the break and getting it close.
04:15 Also, you can see from Munguia,
04:18 you know, not just a headhunter.
04:19 You know, she's someone that will throw to the body,
04:21 open up, you know, with shots to the body
04:23 and then go back up top to the head as well.
04:26 A variety of strikes and, again,
04:28 that volume from Munguia always on display.
04:30 And I think that's a good style for a short, compact fighter.
04:37 Munguia's kind of short even for female flyweight standards.
04:41 She's got a really good jab.
04:46 Yeah, there's some foot to it.
04:48 She's got some physical strength.
04:50 That doesn't surprise me.
04:51 Generally speaking, though,
04:53 boxers who come from an MMA background
04:55 are physically strong, they're well conditioned.
05:05 You can see Ormsby's jab.
05:07 She does throw it frequently,
05:08 but there's not a lot following it.
05:10 It's just kind of that jab and move, jab and move.
05:13 And that might be because of, you know,
05:15 a big lift on that left hand from Gloria Munguia
05:19 or if you're trying to answer.
05:21 But as I was saying, I wonder if Ormsby's just trying to
05:27 sort of, you know, place Munguia with that jab
05:30 because she moves so much.
05:32 I think the jab's the only punch that can really land.
05:35 She's not been able to really sit down with her right hand,
05:38 and I think that's thanks to Munguia's head
05:40 and upper body movement.
05:42 Yes, I want to know. Ten seconds, guys.

05:50 Now two rounds down in this opening bout of the evening.
05:54 It's crazy for me, guys, to look at the ladies go to work
05:59 and be forced to work in that two-minute period.
06:01 It's an all-out sprint in fighting.
06:03 And I think that that's something that should give a fighter
06:07 that doesn't have as much experience,
06:09 somebody like Ormsby, it should give them hope.
06:11 It's like, okay, we're just in here for two minutes, you know.
06:14 If I'm just busy or if I'm just, like, I'm the aggressor,
06:18 I try to push this fighter back on their heels.
06:20 Even if I don't land a punch, you can create an impression
06:23 within a 30-second window and then land a couple punches
06:28 and maybe that's enough to win the round, you know?
06:30 Right. I mean, that's the game you play.
06:32 It doesn't allow the experienced fighter to get into the groove.
06:35 Right. Yeah.
06:36 Yeah, and looking at Ormsby, you know, who has pro MMA fights,
06:39 I mean, a five-minute round is a lot different than a two-minute round.
06:43 Now we are headed into this third round again, scheduled for five.
06:49 But because of that short round length,
06:58 I think that places more importance on activity.
07:02 Right.
07:03 And by activity, I mean the sheer punch value.
07:05 And Munguia definitely has the edge in punch output.
07:09 This is what he got through by Ormsby.
07:11 Keep them up. Keep those punches up.
07:13 Yeah, I'd like to see Ormsby try to push Munguia back with the jab
07:21 or just get inside and physically push her back on the heels.
07:25 Try to get her up against the ropes and then work on the inside.
07:29 Ormsby has a little bit of room in the first two.
07:32 I've seen a nice left hook from Munguia.
07:37 And of course, some combination punches.
07:40 There's a nice right to the body and then a left hook to the head landed by Munguia.
07:44 It was interesting a couple weeks back at the media workouts,
07:51 just, you know, hearing Munguia hit the pads.
07:54 I mean, she gets loud shots off.
07:56 I mean, she sounds like she's a lot bigger than 112 pounds.
08:00 She's a sharp puncher.
08:01 Yeah.
08:02 Her stature gives her great leverage and good balance.
08:08 And she's got a great old sage in the corner with Chui,
08:13 and Chui teaches some very good fundamentals.
08:16 That's the name of the gym, Fundamentals 19.
08:23 Fundamental 12 got through and rattled the jaw there of Shana Ormsby a moment ago.

08:33 You can see that power on display from Munguia.

08:52 Got to say Gloria Munguia pretty confident.
08:55 She walked back to her stool.
08:56 I mean, she had Ormsby hurt there.

09:08 I didn't see what caused that cut.
09:10 I know they were in the clinch in the final moments of that round.
09:14 It seems like the kind of cut that would be produced by a headbutt.
09:18 Maybe an elbow.

09:22 Let's see what we got here.
09:23 Their hands are striking each other.
09:32 I didn't see any blood in that area.
09:39 That's a high up there.
09:41 Not a cut that's going to impede her vision by any means.
09:49 Let's see how this plays out here as we enter round number four.
09:52 Munguia knows she's in a fight.
09:54 She's winning.
09:56 I've scored the first three rounds for Munguia.
09:58 But she will know after these five rounds that she's been in a fight.
10:02 If the fight does go the distance.
10:04 And I think that is something to sort of keep in mind.
10:09 While Munguia is, I think, in control on the scorecards.
10:12 Ormsby did have some moments in that last round she started to, you know,
10:16 look a little bit more comfortable.
10:18 But that power put her back on her heels in a big way in that round as well.
10:22 She's only starting to land a long left hook.
10:25 I tell her she has to get behind it.
10:28 But she is landing that hook.
10:30 One thing that Munguia has that Ormsby does not have is that pivot.
10:42 You know, when Munguia launches a right cross or a left hook,
10:46 she's moving her hips into the punch.
10:48 And it doesn't look like Ormsby does that.
10:52 She doesn't quite turn her punches over and raise her elbow when she's dropping the hook.
10:57 If she did, she'd get a lot more power on that shot.
11:00 But I think Ormsby looks good for somebody who just has two pro fights
11:11 and hasn't matched her first win yet.
11:13 She's capable of that.
11:16 Yeah, I think that the record doesn't necessarily explain the whole story
11:21 about the talent of Shana Ormsby who has a long mixed martial arts run.
11:28 Not just a couple of fights here and there.
11:30 She's fought in some prominent organizations in the LFA, which you can see here on Fight Pass.
11:35 And, you know, Gloria Munguia is no slouch to go out there and give Munguia a fight,
11:40 which Ormsby is doing.
11:42 That's a feather in her cap.
11:43 I agree.
11:45 Yeah, that record is definitely a sign.

12:17 What do you guys think about that?
12:19 I mean, I have a hard time believing that women have different lung capacity or whatever it is.
12:25 That they should be allowed to fight the same as their male counterparts.
12:29 And that's the thing too.
12:30 If I can get another minute of Gloria Munguia, I want another minute of Gloria Munguia in those rounds.
12:35 You know what I mean? It's entertaining.
12:36 Having said that, I think there's something special about the two minute rounds.
12:40 It's different. It's different from men's boxing.
12:42 Women's boxing is contested at a faster pace.
12:47 And I like that. I like how the fights move along.

13:55 Which I really like. That's a new record.
13:57 I'm not used to seeing her move that much.
13:59 You can see a difference of meter between these two ladies.

14:21 It's still there, but it lacks a lot of the power.
14:26 A lot of the power that Munguia's offense has.
14:28 Yeah, Wormsby has let her hands go at least in this final 45 seconds of this round.
14:34 I think maybe the blood trickling down the left side of Munguia's face is kind of egging her on.
14:41 Giving her some incentive.
14:43 She's got some of Munguia's blood on her gloves and her shoulder.
14:47 Actually, Wormsby's finishing very well.
14:53 There we go. Five rounds in the books. Judges can have to tally their 10s and 9s in this one to figure out our winner.
15:00 Coach elevating Shawna Wormsby who had a great effort.
15:05 But I think we're all in agreement that it would be a bit shocking if she were to earn the judges scorecards.
15:11 I think we would have some upset fans here inside Commerce Casino as well as Gloria Munguia brings out the crowd.
15:17 Whether she's in the third or fourth fight of the night or the very first fight of the night.
15:22 She's a must-see TV if you're watching on UFC Fight Pass.
15:25 But if you're going to buy a ticket for a fight like this, you definitely want to be in your seats when Gloria Munguia is stepping in the ring.
15:31 Yeah, Munguia should get the decision, but it's not a fight that I wouldn't mind seeing again.
15:36 Again, Shawna, a couple of fights, experience in the gym, in a boxing gym, and it could be a different fight.
15:43 Yeah, you know, we talked about her first pro boxing win, you know, eluding her thus far.
15:48 But I mean, it's tough to pick up that first win against someone who's experienced as Gloria Munguia, but I would love to see Shawna Orr's fight again.
15:53 She's definitely game. I like her attitude.
15:57 And she'll just get better with fights like this.
16:02 Right. You want to send a ring?
16:04 Sure, if she goes back and watches footage of this, she'll notice things that Munguia was doing.
16:09 She'll be like, you know what? I should do that. I can move my head a little bit more. I can get under punches.
