00:00Game Changing Rescue is what we're going to do, but not with humans, but with food.
00:16Some of the ingredients are too much, but they're still clean.
00:19We collect them instead of throwing them away.
00:22Here's a full program of a group.
00:30Do you know where food waste can go?
00:36Or food that's not being sold?
00:39Or food that's about to go bad or expire?
00:43Hmm, where else?
00:49In 2015, Food Rescue Initiative was the first in the country to start with a bicycle and basket.
00:57In the U.S., I met a group.
00:59They go around food establishments, picking up food and delivering to communities in need.
01:03Why doesn't anyone do this in the Philippines?
01:05When I go back to the Philippines, this is what I'm going to do.
01:07This idea.
01:08So I started my own little group, volunteer group.
01:17Food Rescue's concept is simple.
01:19Instead of garbage, Food Rescue provides food waste to those in need.
01:26In 2022, the non-profit organization Scholars of Sustenance, or SOS, expanded in the country.
01:34Mac became a part of this advocacy.
01:37It started in Thailand in 2016 and then 2017 in Indonesia.
01:43It was founded by Mr. Bo Holmgreen.
01:45They saw that there was a Food Rescue Philippines.
01:48They invited me to join.
01:50Under SOS, there are three trucks that go around and pick up food from different establishments in the Greater Manila area.
01:59And here in the Rescue Kitchen, the rescued food continues.
02:02We're peeling hotdogs now, Sir Arthur.
02:06What are our other ingredients today?
02:08We'll make spaghetti.
02:10And then we also have rescued tomato sauce.
02:13We'll put it in there.
02:15And later, we'll also cook chicken teriyaki for additional protein for our meal.
02:22This is Chef Jesse, our volunteer chef here at SOS.
02:27So Chef Jesse has his own establishment.
02:32But here, he volunteers at SOS to be able to help our communities.
02:37How long have you been here, Sir?
02:39As a volunteer?
02:40Maybe since last year.
02:43Per pack, we'll put pasta, sauce, chicken, cheese, and dessert.
03:02It feels so good when others are volunteering.
03:04Yeah.
03:05When we don't have to do anything.
03:07This is our love for cooking.
03:09Let's taste it.
03:11I forgot my name again.
03:14This is the best spaghetti I've ever tasted.
03:21We're here at the community where we distribute our food packs.
03:27It's amazing to think that the intention to help Sir Mac and SOS Scholars of Sustenance is so far.
03:40So, if you want to volunteer and partner,
03:44Scholars of Sustenance is open for your help.
03:49For GMA Integrated News, I'm Martin Avier, changing the game!
03:55The President is ready to sign the Rice Tarification Law.
04:00It includes the possibility of selling NFA rice again.
04:05Tina Panganiban Perez is on the scene.
04:10The Executive supported the proposal to return to the National Food Authority
04:14the power to sell rice in the country to lower its price.
04:19In 2019, when the NFA lost its power because of the Rice Tarification Law,
04:24we planned to prepare a camera.
04:26The proposal is planned to be an urgent certificate by the President.
04:31The problem is that the price of rice is rising because the traders are competing.
04:38If there are amendments in the NFA and in the Rice Tarification Law,
04:48we can do it, we can control it.
04:51I think it justifies an urgent certification.
04:55That part of the Rice Tarification Law will be amended,
04:59but the Agriculture Department is still in favor of extending it
05:03instead of implementing the original implementation next year.
05:08The continuation of the RTL is the way to go, in my opinion.
05:12We propose to strengthen the role of the National Food Authority as a price stabilizer
05:17by restoring its ability to import,
05:20but only through the authority of the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
05:26As of the moment, there is no way for anybody in government to do market intervention,
05:32which is needed during drastic times in our world history.
05:39That is our goal, to speed up the price of rice.
05:44But the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food doubts the NFA.
05:49He believes that the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Bill should be passed immediately
05:55so that it can punish the middlemen.
05:59The NFA's answer to the doubts?
06:01We cannot blame Senator Villar's reaction.
06:06Because there is a history of what happened in the past.
06:10But right now, we're reviving the NFA.
06:13We just passed it, we don't have two months yet.
06:16Some of the members of the House of Representatives said,
06:19If possible, the NFA should buy from local farmers.
06:27And in case there is a shortage,
06:33maybe only the power of the President and the Secretary can ask for it.
06:38The NFA's budget for Palaypio government should be used to buy from our farmers.
06:49Some congressmen said that when the RTL was implemented,
06:53the price of rice dropped.
06:55But it rose again in 2023.
06:58I cannot guarantee anything because I don't have the power to intervene.
07:02That's why I'm requesting for that power to intervene,
07:05so that I can lower the price.
07:07Maybe there's a new cartel now.
07:10Do you think there's a rice cartel?
07:13As a former businessman, I don't think there's an organized cartel.
07:17But definitely, I think there are some individuals who are trying to take advantage of situations.
07:24The hearing will continue tomorrow.
07:26For GMA Integrated News, Tina Panganiban Perez,
07:30NAKA TUTO 24 HORAS.
08:0045 to 46 degrees Celsius.
08:03In Metro Manila, it's expected to be hot between 42 and 43 degrees Celsius.
08:11In spite of the hot weather, it's expected to be rainy due to localized thunderstorms.
08:17Based on the data of Metro Weather,
08:18there's a small chance of rain tomorrow morning in a large part of the country.
08:22But when it comes to the afternoon, it's possible for it to rain in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Palawan.
08:27When it comes to the evening, it's also expected to be rainy in some parts of Tarlac and Negros Oriental.
08:32It's expected to be low to moderate rain tomorrow afternoon in Samar Provinces, Northern Leyte, and Masbate.
08:39In the evening, it's possible for it to rain in Buhol and Negros Provinces.
08:43Tomorrow night, it's also expected to be rainy in a large part of Mindanao.
08:47In Metro Manila, there's still a low chance of rain tomorrow,
08:50but the possibility of sudden rain is still there.
08:53Easterdays, or the hot and humid wind from the Pacific Ocean,
08:58is still affecting a large part of the country.
09:03In the continuation of the Balikatan Exercises,
09:06in Ilocos Norte, the Filipino and American soldiers are training
09:10to stop the thieves in the sea.
09:13This is CJ Torrida of GMA Regional TV, One North Central Luzon.
09:19Using the Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer System, or ATMOS,
09:24the American and Filipino soldiers are shooting the targets in the water.
09:29This is part of the Balikatan Exercises' counter-landing live fire exercise this year.
09:34In this training, the soldiers are stopping the thieves in the sea.
09:40There's a hit signature inside the target in the water
09:43to detect the Javelin Missile of the U.S. Marine Corps.
09:46They come up, they had a few .50 Cal and Javelin shots that were completely impressive
09:53and shacked the targets that were out there.
09:56The exercise is already an assurance to improve the capability of our armed forces
10:05so that we can better serve the people.
10:07The training was conducted outside the sand dunes outside the city of Ilocos Norte.
10:12It is more than 600 kilometers away from Taiwan,
10:15and it is said that there is a dam in China.
10:18In the same place, there will be a live fire exercise
10:22where an old decommissioned ship will be sunk.
10:26The military exercises that are being conducted now
10:29were initiated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
10:31The military exercises should not target the interests of any third party
10:37and weaken the country's confidence and the regional peace.
10:41The U.S. and Philippine forces were instructed
10:44that the training is for strengthening the relationship
10:47and assistance of the countries in the Indo-Pacific region
10:50and not to incite other parties or countries.
10:53We don't do this for any third party.
10:55We don't do this for messaging.
10:57We do this to create interoperability, to create readiness,
11:00to create integration on such capabilities
11:03as being able to command and control, sense the battle space.
11:06The Gabriela group protested in Manila
11:10as part of their protest in the Balikatan exercises.
11:13The group was supposed to go to the Embassy of America in Rojas Boulevard,
11:17but they were stopped by the police.
11:20From GMA Regional TV, One North Central Luzon, and GMA Integrated News,
11:25CJ Torrida, Nakatutok, 24 Hours.
11:33In their visit to Zamboanga City,
11:35some superstars did not miss the chance to taste some Muslim dishes.
11:40Beya Alonzo and Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beya Gomez
11:45were happy at Kapistahan 2024.
11:48That's the report of Efrain Mamak of GMA Regional TV, One Mindanao.
11:55Wearing their festival costumes,
11:5711 candidates of Miss Zambud 2024
12:01showcased the colorful culture of the tribes in Zamboanga City.
12:04That's just one of the segments of the Kalipayan Festival pageant
12:08where Kapuso actor Juancho Trevino also showed his love.
12:15And their countryman, Kapuso leading man Yasser Marta.
12:23This is where I grew up.
12:24So when I saw such a wild person, my heart was beating fast.
12:28We are very happy that we can make them happy.
12:30The 24-year-old and licensed professional teacher,
12:34Mariam Claire Timti from Iligan City, was honored.
12:36Winning this pageant is such an honor,
12:39and I can't explain how I feel.
12:41I just prayed to God that God, I will be that.
12:44And because they rarely visit Zamboanga City,
12:47Juancho and Yasser did not miss the chance to taste some unique Muslim dishes.
12:52Like chicken pianggang and yula itum,
12:54which are chicken dishes mixed with burnt coconut meat.
12:57I really like Muslim food there because my mom is from Tausug.
13:01But this, brother, is delicious.
13:03What is that? Bien sabroso.
13:05It's like tinola.
13:06Tinola.
13:07Tinola.
13:08But it's black, that's why it's called itum.
13:10Mmm.
13:11Try it.
13:13It's a little spicy, but not so much.
13:17And that's what surprises me.
13:20It's also spicy, right?
13:22Yes, it's spicy, but it's delicious.
13:25Juancho also visited some tourist sites,
13:27such as Fort Pilar Shrine, Plaza del Pilar, and Paseo Del Mar.
13:32As for the pageant of Kapistahan 2024,
13:34the pageant is held in Kapis.
13:37Aside from the candidates,
13:39there are also big names like Miss Universe Philippines 2021,
13:42Bea Gomez.
13:45They are all beautiful and handsome.
13:48And that's what impressed me,
13:50especially in their promotion of their heritage and culture.
13:55Lastly, Aaliyah Shristi Sharma and Joshua Baltero were invited.
13:59The provincial capital was also full of fans
14:02waiting for the arrival of Widow's War stars,
14:05such as Bea Alonso.
14:10I'm happy to see all the Kapis.
14:15And Jean Garcia.
14:21I hope they enjoyed what we gave and that they met us.
14:27Even Rafael Rosel, who brought a mommy on stage,
14:31and Jerry Gonzales, who banded with the audience.
14:35They really received us with a warm welcome.
14:37I hope we can come back here and the seafood is delicious.
14:40For GMA Integrated News,
14:41Efren Mamak of GMA Original TV One Mindanao,
14:44for 24 Hours.
14:48Some were surprised by the new vlog of the President
14:50where some Filipino food was served
14:53and it can also be served to tourists.
14:57Marisumali was shocked.
15:02There's a lot of delicious food here in the Philippines.
15:05That's what President Bombo Marcos will serve
15:07in his latest vlog, Pinamagatang Chibog.
15:10With the abundance of Filipino food that can be grown all over the world,
15:14it's a sure effective way for tourists to visit.
15:17Gastronomic tourism, if you will,
15:19because food is really brought by tourists,
15:22the flavor of Filipino cuisine is really different.
15:25That's why he wanted the whole world to discover it.
15:28In 2023, Iloilo City was recognized as UNESCO City of Gastronomy
15:32as the capital of the city, La Paz Batchoy.
15:36The President also served the sweet mangoes of Guimaras.
15:39It's really delicious.
15:40It's different from all the mangoes we ate.
15:43The vegetables were grown by the people of Pandan in Catanduanes
15:46as well as those grown by the people of Batac in Ilocos Norte.
15:50I think all Filipinos got to know Bagnet from Batac.
15:54There's also empanada.
15:56There's a lot of delicious food.
15:57As long as the presentation is good,
15:59the cooking is good,
16:00you can go to Michelin Star.
16:02In the Philippine Experience and Department of Tourism in Intramuros,
16:05Tampoc is the home of Filipino food.
16:09It is said that the best sellers are lechon kawali, sisig, and adobo.
16:13Aside from the ingredients,
16:16the love for cooking is also included
16:19to make it more delicious.
16:21What do the Filipinos think is the best food for tourists?
16:25Adobo.
16:26Sisig.
16:27Sinigang.
16:28Kuek-kuek.
16:29Kikiyom.
16:30Kikiyom and cheese stick.
16:32More on street food.
16:33Tourism Secretary Cristina Garcia-Frasco
16:36in endorsing the President of Gastronomy Tourism.
16:39In promoting food tourism,
16:41we invite the world to embark on a memorable culinary journey
16:46to the Philippines,
16:47where every experience is an unforgettable memory.
16:52The language of love of Filipinos is food.
16:56And in every bite we give to others,
16:59it is not only this love that we share,
17:03but also the rich culture of our nation.
17:06For GMA Integrated News,
17:08I'm Maris Umali for 24 Hours.
17:12The first Filipino astronaut is looking for a Space Exploration Research Agency or SERA.
17:18For those who are interested,
17:19let's watch the report of Rafi Tima.
17:26Will there be a first Filipino astronaut?
17:29This is one possibility in the program of Space Exploration Research Agency or SERA.
17:49SERA is established to have a global community for space exploration and research.
17:54Their mission is to have a space agency for everyone.
17:58According to SERA,
17:59if there is a sufficient number of Filipinos to pre-register in SERA.space,
18:03the nomination for the first Filipino in space will open from June 15.
18:07Anyone can apply,
18:09as long as they are 18 years or older
18:11and have sufficient communication skills.
18:13From here,
18:14the first Filipino to arrive in space will be chosen.
18:18The candidacy is really about asking people to come and vote for you to be an astronaut.
18:25We're asking for Filipinos to choose their astronaut
18:28rather than us as an organization.
18:31They chose the Philippines
18:33because even if the country has a space agency,
18:35there are still no Filipinos arriving in space.
18:38Well, hopefully having an astronaut will help accelerate
18:41or let's say stimulate conversations.
18:44It makes it become an idea that you can actually travel to space
18:48and this lifetime space is accessible.
18:51The sooner that nations become active in space,
18:54I think they're going to be able to lay the foundations
18:58for future commercial development.
19:01In SERA's program,
19:03Jeff Bezos, a billionaire, is a partner of Blue Origin.
19:0731 astronauts were sent their New Shepard rocket
19:11at an altitude of more than 100 kilometers
19:13beyond the limits of the atmosphere of the world and space
19:16since 2021.
19:18For GMI Integrated News,
19:20Rafi Timah, for Tutok, 24 hours.
19:24Investigations and solutions to the reclamations in Manila Bay
19:28were requested by a group of experts in the DNR.
19:31This was followed by its immediate effect
19:33on the lives of some voters.
19:36And Ian Cruz, for Tutok.
19:41Ms. Norma is saddened to speak at their protest.
19:45They didn't get to celebrate the biggest anniversaries of the voters
19:49because it was demolished,
19:52in preparation for the reclamations in Manila Bay.
19:55I hope that the demolition of the houses will stop.
20:01I hope that the houses will really be demolished.
20:04That's all we're hoping for.
20:08I'm so sad.
20:11Stop the reclamations.
20:13Because of the people who voted in Cavite,
20:16they're already hungry.
20:17Ms. Norma and Ms. Jennifer were with a group of experts
20:21who wrote a letter to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
20:24in Kansas City and the Philippine Reclamation Authority in Makati.
20:28This is to request the documents
20:30and to have an investigation and solution
20:33to the reclamations in Manila Bay.
20:35But according to the Philippine Reclamation Authority,
20:38there is no new go signal to resume the reclamation project in Nabotas.
20:43The ongoing cleanup program in Manila Bay
20:46is the reason for the demolition of Tahungan in Nabotas.
20:49This is not in relation to the proposed reclamation.
20:53But in fact, this is an activity in relation to the compliance to the mandamus requirement.
21:04So this is also related to the cleaning up of Manila Bay.
21:11In August 2023, President Bongbong Marcos suspended
21:15the 13 reclamation projects in Manila Bay.
21:18But before the end of 2023,
21:20the two reclamations in Pasay were resumed according to the PRA.
21:24Jim Integrated is still trying to get the DNR's approval on this issue.
21:29According to the PRA,
21:30there are no new approved reclamations by the DNR and the Office of the President.
21:36What we expect is that once the DNR submitted the report,
21:40the OP would endorse the said report to PRA for appropriate action.
21:45That's when we can lift or resume the reclamation.
21:51The reclamation is also related to the dredging of sand and soil
21:55from Manila Bay and nearby provinces,
21:57which is one of the concerns of the discussion.
22:00This is the only remaining coral reefs of Manila Bay
22:06that the former President Duterte expanded
22:08after one year of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program.
22:11But this has been destroyed.
22:13There are areas near Marigondon,
22:17but we already took note of the different implementation
22:25and conditions given to us when it comes to Marigondon,
22:30specifically saying that our activities should take into consideration
22:38the proximity of the coral area between Marigondon and Nasugbu.
22:46For GMA Integrated News, Ian Cruz, for 24 Hours.
22:52Not just one, but four coral reefs
22:55were destroyed in Mt. Apo Natural Park in Cotabato.
22:58The Philippine Trigon, also known as Obo Monuvo.
23:04This is an endemic and can only be seen in the Philippines.
23:07But the good news is that its conservation status is still least concerned
23:11or not yet exhausted.
23:13In the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Soxhagen,
23:17this is the second time that natural birds have been documented
23:20while the Biodiversity Monitoring System is in operation this April.
23:25In 2023, this is the last time that a DNR was seen in Mt. Apo.
23:31Kapuso, there will be a reduction in the price of oil tomorrow.
23:36From 12 to 1 on May 7, there will be a 75-cent rollback
23:42for every liter of gasoline.
23:44Almost a peso will be deducted from the price of every liter of diesel.
23:48More than a peso will be deducted from every liter of kerosene.
23:51Based on the investigation of GMA Integrated News Research,
23:54according to the Department of Energy
23:56and the announcements of oil companies,
23:58more than 9 pesos will be deducted from the price of every liter of gasoline.
24:024 pesos and 70 centavos will be deducted from the price of every liter of diesel
24:06while 80 centavos will be deducted from the price of every liter of kerosene.
24:16Kapuso, meet the cast of the upcoming Cinemalaya film, Balota.
24:20It will be directed by none other than primetime queen,
24:23Marian Rivera, who has new dance challenges.
24:27Let's talk to Nelson Canlas.
24:32Before casting Balots next year,
24:35let's first introduce Teacher Emy in the film, Balota.
24:40Marian Rivera will direct the film,
24:42entry to the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival
24:46of GMA Pictures and GMA Entertainment Group.
24:49I'm excited about the character
24:51and I'm thinking about how I will bring Emy's life to life.
24:56Because she's really tough,
24:58she's a comedian,
25:00and she has a lot of principles in life.
25:03It's like you already have those.
25:05Yes, that's why it's fun to play the character.
25:08The film is inspired by real people and what happens every election.
25:13It discusses the stories of a land grabber
25:17and an ex-sexy actor
25:19who will become the mayor of a town.
25:23Marian's character is a teacher who serves the election
25:28and will be sent home.
25:30Teacher Emy will run through the woods
25:32to find the last copy of the election results
25:35to fight for the future of those she loves
25:39and for their safety.
25:42The cast includes Nico Antonio, Raheel Birria,
25:47Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera,
25:50and certified funny and viral content creators
25:53such as Sasa Girl and Sneer.
25:56For those who attended the story conference for the film,
26:00Vice President for Drama Productions, Cheryl Ching See,
26:04and other executives.
26:06For its director, Kip Oy Banda,
26:09it's a challenge to make the film enjoyable
26:11and not heavy on the feelings that the film will give.
26:15Humor. I think humor is an essential element.
26:19Satire is very effective for me
26:22and we don't really see a lot of satire anymore.
26:25Hopefully this helps bring the satire genre back.
26:28Poking fun at politics.
26:30And then that's your way of making people subconsciously accept that reality.
26:35Balote's message is really beautiful.
26:38That's why I said, I really need to do it.
