00:00 The LTO is planning a fight against the new text scam.

00:04 The message is about the traffic violation and the ones who received it are being fined.

00:10 Katina Son has the report.

00:12 Are you also one of those who received text messages from MMDA and LTO

00:20 that says you have a violation and you need to pay a fine?

00:25 The co-convener of Scamwatch Philippines, Art Samaniego, received a text that says

00:30 he overdrew his fine for a traffic violation.

00:33 The message includes a link that you need to click to pay.

00:38 When you go to him, he will tell you that your violation is 3 days old,

00:42 you need to pay and they will give fake payment platforms.

00:48 After clicking the link, the LTO website will immediately appear.

00:52 But when he double-checks, the website will shut down.

00:56 The car will ask for your license plate and your violation and payment page will appear.

01:01 If you enter your e-wallet details, they will get it.

01:06 They will steal your e-wallet access.

01:09 This is a scam.

01:11 The LTO is not doing this.

01:14 Don't click on any link.

01:19 The LTO is not allowing their employees to steal or withdraw money outside the office using social media sites.

01:26 MMDA reminds that the No Contact Apprehension Policy is not yet in effect.

01:32 We are still in the PRO.

01:34 We are not yet in effect.

01:36 We are not allowed to accept payments, even online payments,

01:40 of violations related to the No Contact Apprehension Policy.

01:45 The DICT is investigating this.

01:47 It is being revealed that the people who are doing these text scams are in the Philippines.

01:51 But we are not discounting the possibility that they are connected to a wider net of syndicates of organized cyber criminals.

02:03 Because it is just a wrong letter, it is an indication of another website.

02:07 Tomorrow, MMDA, LTO and DICT will be informed about this.
