00:00 I really am excited to see Zendaya. I was that person that was on the way over here, I was already like looking.
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most stunning, ambitious, and show-stopping ensembles from fashion's biggest night, the Met Gala 2024, where the theme was the Garden of Time.
00:19 This is a Louis Vuitton fantasy. I think we just wanted to bring the full idea of the Garden of Time to life.
00:29 Number 10. Gigi Hadid.
00:31 Over the years, supermodel Gigi Hadid has dominated the red carpet of many Met Galas, and this year was no different.
00:38 The Met Ball is obviously different than any other red carpet. I think it's the time to really have fun and go for it.
00:46 Styled by Mimi Cattrall, Hadid bloomed on the green carpet in a Tom Brown white off-the-shoulder gown with a corseted bodice and ruffled skirt tipped in black satin.
00:55 I think this is such a great nod to the Garden of Time, the book, which is about these glass flowers in the garden in front of the house.
01:05 The Italian garden-inspired design featured 2.8 million micro bugle beads, handmade 3D yellow rosettes, and green thorn appliques, which reportedly required a 70-plus person team over 13,500 hours to complete.
01:20 It took 20 people 5,000 hours to work on this look. 70 people worked on it, so I'm just so honored to be here presenting this for them. I think that's what this is all about.
01:32 The expertly crafted piece was undoubtedly one of the most eye-popping gowns of the night. Hadid's retro curls and red lip completed the classic look.
01:40 Number 9. Esa Gonzalez.
01:42 Esa Gonzalez radiated fairy princess elegance in a custom del corte blush and ivory organza dress inspired by Mexico's state flower, the vanilla orchid.
01:52 The pretty in pink color palette gave the flowing, peeling orchid gown a rose and cream ombre effect, which went perfectly with the gala's forest decor.
02:01 Gonzalez complemented the overall ethereal floral ensemble with dewy makeup and a braided romantic half-updo with curls adorned in white flower petals.
02:09 She accessorized with a bluish-green Cartier necklace, matching ring, and earrings.
02:14 Unlike some restrictive get-ups, the actress actually looked comfortable in the airy fabric, and that is everything.
02:21 Number 8. Sydney Sweeney.
02:23 From her first Met Gala in 2022 to countless film premieres and events, Sydney Sweeney has proven she is a style icon.
02:31 For her third time ascending the Met steps, the actress wore a light blue Miu Miu tulle gown with floral embroidery.
02:38 "This is Miu Miu gone dark."
02:40 "We have a little bit of a twist."
02:42 Sweeney's arrival had everyone doing a double take as she debuted a jet black bob with bangs in place of her usual long blonde locks.
02:49 "Glenn Coco, my hair stylist, he always pushes me to try new things."
02:53 "Yes."
02:54 "We wanted to push a little different."
02:56 "Would you ever dye it this color?"
02:58 "It's kind of hot."
03:00 "I don't know, should I?"
03:01 The temporary 'do, courtesy of hair stylist Glenn Oropesa, and black leather opera gloves added some edge to her Cinderella serve.
03:07 "The leather gloves, it's like edgier. Do you feel like you're more edgy or you're more like that light flowery sort of soft vibe?"
03:14 "I feel like I'm a balance of both."
03:16 "It depends on what you're looking at."
03:18 "Yeah, yeah, well it's good to kind of have that duality."
03:21 A dusting of all over body glitter made the look all the more magical.
03:25 Number 7. Mindy Kaling.
03:27 One of the biggest fashion surprises of the night came from Mindy Kaling, who arrived wearing a show stopping number by designer Gaurav Gupta.
03:35 She delivered an over-the-top chic look in a beige organza architectural dress, fittingly named the Melting Flower of Time.
03:42 "So it makes me really happy to rep such talented geniuses who happen to be from my community, it's amazing.
03:49 And this gown has a name, well it's called the Melting Flower of Time."
03:54 Kaling's whimsical combination of garden and time featured a swirling detachable cape and long train modeled after a wilting flower.
04:02 "If you look at the cape, you can see that it looks like a flower that is once blossoming and is now melting."
04:09 "It is so stunning."
04:11 Gupta adorned the fabric in lines of crystal beads for a subtle sparkle, accentuated by minimal jewelry.
04:17 Kaling's sleek bob and subtle makeup really let this work of art shine.
04:21 "Thanks Vogue, but am I allowed to talk to camera?"
04:24 "Obviously."
04:25 "This is what we did in the office."
04:26 "I know, break the fourth."
04:27 Number 6. Alia Bhatt.
04:29 The 2024 Met Gala saw endless ethereal looks gracing the carpet.
04:33 But one major standout was Alia Bhatt, who worked with stylist Anita Shroff Adhijania to create an Indian-inspired take on this year's theme, the Garden of Time.
04:42 "So this is designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. It is my second time at the Met, but my first time wearing a saree.
04:48 And when I thought of the dress code, Garden of Time, I felt like it needed something timeless, and there's nothing more timeless than a saree."
04:57 The actress turned heads in a mint green custom Sabyasachi saree, hand-embroidered with sequins, tassels, and rare gemstones.
05:04 The immaculate creation took about 1,965 hours to craft, and really brought the drama with a flowing 23-foot-long train with floral detailing.
05:14 "I'm so excited to bring all of that out to the world for everybody to see, because it's taken a lot of love and labor and a lot of effort, and anything that's gotten love in time lasts forever."
05:26 "I'm obsessed." "Like the garden!"
05:27 But dazzled in her beautifully bejeweled bralette and gorgeous Sabyasachi accessories jewels, proving that even though it's only her second Met Gala, she is clearly a pro.
05:38 Number 5. Tyla
05:40 As a performer, Tyla isn't afraid to go all-in on an unconventional look.
05:44 "Did you like have a vision going into this, or were you sort of the canvas for this look?"
05:48 "I mean, I worked very close with the Balmain team, so I feel like I was a part of it."
05:53 Making her Met debut, the South African singer wowed in a shimmering strapless Sands of Time-inspired creation designed by Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing.
06:03 "Yeah, I'm wearing sand, basically. The Sands of Time, you know, we really wanted something out of the box for this year."
06:11 The figure-hugging gown made from a plaster mold of Tyla's body is truly one of a kind.
06:16 In an Instagram post, the brand detailed the unique applique process of pressing three different shades of sand and microcrystal studs onto fabric.
06:25 She accessorized with a chain-dripping manicure and a Balmain hourglass clutch.
06:29 "Let me show you the bag." "No!" "Like, come on." "That is unbelievable."
06:35 Due to the fragile structure and cascading organza train, Tyla needed some assistance ascending the steps. Worth it.
06:42 "Guys, that's the only way I'm getting up these days. That's the only way."
06:46 If anyone wasn't familiar with Mona Patel before, they are now after this year's Met Gala.
06:54 The entrepreneur and philanthropist arrived in a jaw-dropping Iris Van Herpen nude-toned gown with gold accents styled by La Roche.
07:01 The exquisite mechanical dress almost broke the internet with its butterfly-shaped corset and delicate fluttering butterflies down the arms.
07:10 [Music]
07:13 Van Herpen, a designer known for an alien aesthetic, ensured Patel made a memorable first impression as a gala goddess donning this innovative creation.
07:30 With its scalloped train and intricate details, this ensemble looked stunning from all angles.
07:38 Given how the night's theme links to the Met's own Sleeping Beauty's reawakening fashion exhibition, it's only right that Sleeping Beauty herself made a magical appearance.
07:47 "Well, obviously the theme is Sleeping Beauty, which I know it's not on the nose, Sleeping Beauty, but I played Sleeping Beauty in Maleficent."
07:56 "Yes." "So I was like, gosh, I was like, well, I have to pay homage to her a little bit." "Absolutely."
08:02 The Maleficent star hit the green-tinged carpet in a custom Balmain dress that gave Ice Princess vibes.
08:07 "I'm a glass statue in the garden."
08:10 The off-the-shoulder design featured two crystal birds attached to each side as if in her own fairy tale.
08:16 "You know, the princess getting dressed by her woodland creatures." "Yes."
08:21 Fanning's sheer frosted frock proved to be a light-catching masterpiece under the lights, along with her Cartier jewelry.
08:27 It wasn't the easiest gown to navigate on the sprawling Met steps, but clearly, Fanning was willing to make the sacrifice for fashion.
08:36 Lana Del Rey understood the garden glam assignment and served a sinister Mother Nature look we didn't know we needed.
08:44 "Yeah, I guess it was this idea of Mother Nature, but the slightly more sinister aspects."
08:49 The singer's all-cream georgette corseted dress, a custom design by Alexander McQueen creative director Sean McGirr,
08:56 was embroidered with dark thorny vines crawling up the silhouette.
08:59 "Well, I'm with Sean, so, with McQueen. Oh God, I hope I don't poke him, but I don't know."
09:06 "Well, again, like, we wanted it to look like McQueen, so the shape."
09:10 Del Rey wore her long locks in waves, showing off the ensemble's headpiece made of natural hawthorn branches and draped in a tulle veil.
09:17 The whimsical and woodsy aesthetic perfectly honored this year's Costume Institute exhibition. No notes.
09:23 "It's about the inner animal, I guess, you know, nature, the animals, you know, we're really inspired by the theme, really."
09:30 Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
09:33 Coleman Domingo. The Oscar nominee's custom Willy Chavarria-caped suit paid tribute to late icons.
09:39 "It's a very dark story, but it feels like, you know, I don't know, I feel like a count in some way.
09:45 You know, I feel like a count, but I also have my dark flowers with me as well."
09:49 Dove Cameron. The Descendants star rocked a romantic sheer floral dress by Diesel.
09:54 "The concept, yeah, that maybe we were sitting in a forest for a very long time, and we were sort of eaten away and affected by the surroundings."
10:04 Ayo Edebri. The Emmy winner made her Met debut in a stunning lace Loewe gown with 3D florals.
10:10 "Do you feel like a little garden?"
10:12 "Yes, very much that, yeah, we got the flowers and the hair, you know."
10:15 "Oh, so good. Is this your first Met?"
10:17 "It's my first Met."
10:18 "How do you feel?"
10:19 "Like, kind of crazy, but I'll take a, like, another check at the end of the night."
10:25 Amelia Gray. No one will forget this light-up rose-filled terrarium dress by Jun Takahashi.
10:31 "Okay, now let's try the other foot."
10:33 "Okay."
10:34 "Hey, I'm coming."
10:39 "This is like wedding dress fitting. It's giving say yes to the dress."
10:44 Greta Lee. Angelic, elegant, and edgy in a structured lace Loewe gown.
10:49 "Per the theme, it's got that contrast of this strong shield-like, but ephemeral."
10:55 "Did he ask you if you wanted to eat at the Met?"
10:58 "No."
10:59 "Oh, good, because obviously."
11:00 Kwana Chasing Horse. The model-actress blossomed in an iridescent periwinkle princess dress by H&M.

11:27 Number 1. Zendaya
11:30 After a five-year absence, Zendaya returns to the Met Gala as a co-chair.
11:35 As expected, the fashionista delivered.
11:38 Styled by longtime collaborator La Roche, the Challenger star wore a custom Maison Margiela by John Galliano emerald and navy-striped mermaid-cut dress.
11:47 She channeled the night's flora and fauna vibes with metallic detailed motifs.
11:51 Leaves, grapes, and a hummingbird.
11:54 A matching Stephen Jones-veiled fascinator, Bulgari jewels, and striking makeup by Pat McGrath topped off the look.
12:00 Later, Zendaya rocked a second Galliano design, a black ballgown from Givenchy's spring 1996 couture collection.
12:07 For this look, she wore a more dramatic headpiece with a colorful bouquet of roses, an Alexander McQueen design by Philip Treacy.
12:15 Needless to say, she closed down the green carpet.
12:19 What was your favorite Met Gala look of 2024? Let us know in the comments.
12:24 This is Givenchy, it's archival McQueen from 1999.
12:28 I am so, so incredibly honored to wear it. I'm the first human to wear it. It's showed on a mannequin.
