00:00I was pretty young, I think I was about nine years old, and I said to my violin teacher,
00:11I'm going to be a conductor.
00:13And she said, oh, no, no, no, girls can't do that.
00:17We have a responsibility to try to make the path easier for future generations.
00:28We selected 14 candidates out of 202 competitors.
00:33They will compete in Paris.
00:36The entire world is able to see them.
00:39There is no doubt that the Maestro competition changes the course of their career.
00:45So whatever you want to wear, you wear it.
00:49Whatever you want to do on the podium, you do it.
00:53I don't want to have any regret that I didn't reach my potential.
00:57They said to me, you can't win this competition.
01:02I will be most stressed if I pass the first round, because then I'll realize the chance
01:08I actually have.
01:10There's a moment that each of these women will have to stand and deliver.
01:16This is how I support my family, and this is who I am.
01:23I didn't think it was going to be life-changing, but then, of course, it was.
01:32The best part of this competition has been the community we created with the girls.
01:41And the first prize winner.
