00:00 Another Pinoy pride we will visit today is the first Filipino company in the skincare industry
00:06 supported by the Department of Science and Technology of the UST
00:10 recognized by the Global Islamic Economic Champion Award.
00:14 And to tell us about their journey, we will talk to Ms. Mary Jane Raka and Sir Henry Vito.
00:22 Good morning and welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:25 Good morning.
00:27 Mary, good morning. We want to know how your journey started. Tell us about it.
00:31 So, first, the journey of the CNS Cosmetic Industry was really hard.
00:36 We started with just 5 people, 5 employees.
00:39 So, it started in 2005.
00:41 Okay.
00:41 So, it was really hard. We put our plant in a remote place in Balatatis, San Antonio, Quezon.
00:48 So, the goal is to provide work.
00:50 So, our plant is not in the cities, if not in a remote place.
00:57 Okay. So, you entered the cosmetic industry. Tell us more.
01:00 Yes, we really entered because Henry and I are both agents in supermarkets.
01:08 Okay.
01:09 So, you already have a background when it comes to health and beauty products.
01:13 Yes. How to market our products.
01:16 At first, of course, in Batangas only, in Lipa.
01:19 And then we had supermarkets nationwide.
01:23 And then, that's when DOST arrived in 2014 because we couldn't afford the volume of abroad because of export.
01:32 When it comes to volume, can you share with us your market share of your products nationwide?
01:38 So, our volume, at first, we started small.
01:42 And then, we saw DOST and they helped us to comply with the volume internationally.
01:49 So, now, our company's volume, with the help of DOST Setup Program,
01:54 it really increased not only by 1,000%.
01:56 So, in fact, now we can make around 50,000 pieces of soap.
02:00 So, that's how big it is.
02:02 Before, it was only 5,000 because it was one by one.
02:05 Because our products that are made by the CNA Cosmetic Industry are all natural product.
02:11 Okay. Setup Program and DOST.
02:14 In-depth discussion about this, how does it work and how does it help you?
02:19 And it's possible that it can help other Filipinos who will open this class or will enter other industries.
02:26 So, the help of DOST Setup Program is really that the industries like us, the big ones,
02:33 can give the right automations in terms of machineries.
02:37 So, those of us who are small, those who are in business, we just approach the DOST branch in the whole Philippines.
02:43 So, inter-equipment, right? And financial assistance as well?
02:47 Yes.
02:48 So, how did you approach it? What was your step?
02:52 So, my step, because I like watching TV. I watched TV on PTV4.
02:56 So, I really watch it every night.
02:59 So, I saw the program.
03:00 That's right. That's how it should be, sir.
03:02 So, I watch the programs of government agencies.
03:05 So, I really saw a program that helps people like us, the small ones.
03:12 So, I went to Batangas City and the people there are really kind.
03:16 And we were immediately investigated to help us.
03:20 That's great.
03:21 Because, you know, honestly, a lot of people say that they don't watch PTV.
03:25 But they didn't know that the programs of the government are shown here.
03:30 And because of that, like sir, he saw that this program will benefit them.
03:34 Watch PTV.
03:35 Yes, a lot of people are really helped.
03:39 And honestly, the government's testing, like the OST,
03:43 that's the only agency that really helped us to become experts in 16 countries.
03:48 16 countries.
03:49 Yes.
03:50 Wow.
03:50 So, when did you start?
03:52 2005.
03:53 After we got married.
03:56 Ah, that's it.
03:58 So, the value of our capital, sir, believe me, is around 5,000 pesos.
04:01 5,000 pesos.
04:02 We're both employees.
04:04 So, we dreamt of having a business.
04:06 That's it.
04:06 So, the journey of our business, we also allied that our employees will also give back to the farmers.
04:14 And the one you want to expand, you already approached DOS.
04:17 Yes.
04:18 Speaking of expansion, you are the first skin care company that entered the market of the United Arab Emirates.
04:27 Congratulations.
04:28 Tell us.
04:29 The products there are high standards, right?
04:31 Honestly, it's very rare to enter the GCC country because, as you know, we are Muslim brothers.
04:37 So, we really comply.
04:39 The DOS really helped us to comply with the testing.
04:42 Everything.
04:42 Which is, the halal is really tight in the boundaries of entering the Middle East country.
04:47 And last February, we were awarded the Champion Islamic Award in the UAE.
04:52 Yes.
04:53 Of the Prime.
04:54 Of the Prime Group.
04:55 Congratulations.
04:56 Congratulations for that award.
04:58 The first ever.
04:59 Because of that, you were recognized by the Global Islamic Economy Champion Award.
05:05 So, how does it feel that you were able to get this kind of recognition?
05:09 Yes.
05:10 To be honest, it's a big memory for us.
05:14 As a Filipino, that's what we say in our social media, "Tatak Pinoy, Dugong Pinoy."
05:22 Because the CLH Cosmetic Industry is not a big company.
05:26 We were the only ones who were able to do it because of our testing and the quality of our products.
05:33 Our products are really locally raw materials used.
05:39 And then, only 20% is imported.
05:42 There.
05:43 And that's the beauty when you are supported by a government agency.
05:48 They make sure that the quality products and materials are really good.
05:52 What would you like to say to our fellow Filipinos who want to start their own business?
06:00 I would like to say to our fellow Filipinos who have small businesses,
06:04 because we are really going through a lot of trials in life.
06:07 The pandemic is happening.
06:08 So, let's not be discouraged.
06:10 Let's fight.
06:12 At least, I would like to say that we should have a system
06:16 that we should study carefully what we are going to do in life.
06:21 And let's follow the trending.
06:23 Let's not be left behind.
06:24 Because if we follow the trending, like social media,
06:27 we should not be left behind in social media.
06:30 We should always be there.
06:32 And the government agencies should open up to help, especially the DOSC.
06:36 They should be there to give us financial assistance.
06:40 And of course, the machineries. They should be there.
06:44 And of course, invite our viewers to like your Facebook and social media pages.
06:50 Okay. You can follow and share our Facebook page,
06:55 like All White Skin Blend Philippines.
06:57 And on TikTok, All White Skin Blend Philippines.
07:00 And follow me, Madam Apple, and Mary Jane Robledo-Raca.
07:05 Because of course, in social media, you really need to be flexible.
07:09 That's what my husband said.
07:11 Social media is also one of the things that really helps promote.
07:15 And then, our business is traditional.
07:18 It's available in 16 countries, in different countries.
07:22 Not only UAE, we have America, we also have Canada, and then in Asian countries.
07:28 But it's available in supermarkets and hypermarkets nationwide here in Aden.
07:36 And globally, in supermarkets as well.
07:40 Alright, on that note, thank you so much for sharing your journey with us.
07:44 And for providing information about how you met Ms. Mary Jane Robledo-Raca and Sir Henry Vito Robledo-Raca.
