The last year has seen rising tensions on the island of Ireland over how to accommodate immigrants as the far right increasingly exploits the issue.

00:13 could be heard over the marching demonstrators, who were carrying placards that stated "Irish
00:19 lives matter" and "Economic migrants are not refugees". The protesters walked from the
00:26 Garden of Remembrance to O'Connell Street and were accompanied by the police. According
00:33 to local media reports, the protest was organised by a local town which has been gripped by
00:38 intense protests against asylum seeker accommodation centres in recent weeks. Immigration is an
00:45 increasingly hot topic in Ireland, with almost 20,000 asylum seeker cases in the backlog.
00:52 The crisis is compounded by the UK firming up its tough stance against new arrivals who
00:57 are now increasingly heading north.
