00:00As more people are getting vaccinated against rabies,
00:03the Department of Health is trying to reach out to the country's animal bite centers.
00:08Here's EJ Gomez.
00:14Because her neighbor's cat bit her,
00:16Rosalia's 10-month-old daughter was rushed to the hospital to get vaccinated against rabies.
00:22She just cried loudly.
00:24I saw her arms bleeding.
00:28What did you feel earlier?
00:29I was scared, of course.
00:31Princess was also bitten by a rabid cat,
00:33but it took her almost two weeks to get vaccinated.
00:38I didn't go there right away because I have work to do.
00:43Last week, people were giving free anti-rabies vaccines here
00:48at San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.
00:50According to its records, 95% of those who were vaccinated were post-exposure.
00:56Those who were bitten by rabid cats and dogs were taken care of.
01:01Before, we only range from 1,000 to 1,500.
01:06But for the past two weeks, 2,000 is our lowest number.
01:10On Monday, our highest number was 3,500 to 4,000 patients.
01:17To get vaccinated, up to 50 healthcare professionals are on duty every day.
01:22Even though they're not from Manila, they travel here.
01:24That's why there are chances that someone will get vaccinated even though it's past noon.
01:30According to the health secretary who visited the vaccination center earlier,
01:33the health department will assist the people of the Animal Bite Center throughout the country.
01:38Local governments have their own way of vaccinating people.
01:42They should make sure that the vaccination schedule is followed so that the visa won't be lost.
01:47Let's see how we can fix this together with the LGU.
01:51If there are so many people, why is it like that?
01:54City-bounds will also check if there are still living animals.
01:58It's cheaper to catch them than to buy a vaccine for those who are bitten.
02:04Just a reminder to the public, even pets can be bitten, so they should be vaccinated.
02:09Also, because of the hot weather now, our pets are a bit irritable.
