Copter tragedy: Helicopters involved were airworthy, all crew fit at time of incident

The two Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) helicopters that crashed in Lumut, Perak were airworthy at the time of the incident, according to the preliminary report on the tragedy.

In a statement on Thursday (May 9), the Navy also said that all air crewmen were in fine health to handle the aircraft and fit to do so based on their qualifications on the day of the incident.

00:29The Investigation Board is currently analyzing data from the Multi-Purpose Flight Data Recorder,
00:34which they received on May 3.
00:37On Thursday, the Navy confirmed that all aircrew were in good health and qualified to operate
00:42the aircraft on the day of the incident.
00:45The final report is expected to be completed by May 29.
00:49The crash occurred on April 23 when the AW139, carrying seven crew members, and the Fennec,
00:55with three crew members, collided during a training exercise for the 90th Naval Day
01:00Celebration.
01:01The AW139 crashed onto the steps at the TLDM Stadium, while the Fennec landed in the swimming
01:07pool at the Sports Complex.
