00:00May Day is an important time for us to celebrate class solidarity and working class tradition.

00:08May Day, May Day, May Day is also an internationally recognised distress call.

00:15A call to signify that something is going catastrophically wrong.

00:21Palestine is sending out a distress call to the world.

00:26Our trade unions have a massive role to play here.

00:29To stand with Palestinian trade union comrades, support workers who refuse to handle Israeli goods in shops, at ports or tech workers.

00:40Union leaders cannot and must not stay silent while the crime of genocide is being carried out in Gaza.

00:48It dehumanises us all.

00:51In the space of seven months, at least 40,000 Palestinians have been slaughtered in Gaza by Israel, funded and armed by the US.

01:02At least 80,000 people injured.

01:051.7 million people internally displaced.

01:10That's 75% of Gaza's population.

01:14I want to thank the Dairy Trade Union Council for keeping their eye on Palestine.

01:20I think it's so important that on May Day we're having our eyes on Palestine today.

01:25It is the pressing social justice but also workers' rights issue of this moment.

01:32May Day is about solidarity but it's about internationalism.

01:37Solidarity to the workers who are being targeted in Gaza.

01:41Workers who are being targeted for exactly the work that they're doing.

01:45The journalists, the medics, the academics, the aid workers who are being targeted.
