Heathrow Airport strikes called off

Heathrow Airport workers were meant to strike this week, but the action was called off.

00:00A previously planned week of strike action by Heathrow workers has now been cancelled.

00:05Strikes by hundreds of workers at Heathrow airport have been called off while a union

00:10consults with its members. Unite members working at the airport were due to take strike action

00:16over concerns around the outsourcing of hundreds of jobs to subcontractors. The union said

00:22workers feared they would see a decline in contractual terms and conditions.

00:29Strike action scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday this week was cancelled to enable talks. The

00:33remaining days of strike action from May 9th to 13th have also been called off.

00:40Unite regional officer Wayne King said talks have progressed well over the last two days.

00:46And we will now be balloting our members on a new offer. As a goodwill gesture, we will

00:51be suspending the remaining strike action this week while our members are consulted.
