Tennis - Rome 2024 - Novak Djokovic before to start his tournament in Rome

00:30training before my first match with top players obviously it's different when
00:35you train with them if you know playing practice sets seeing where your game is
00:40at and kind of working your way towards the fine form for the for the first
00:48official match so I think I'm on a good good good route you know to peak at
00:57at Roland Garros in Paris you know hopefully here in Rome I can play better
01:05than I did in in Monte Carlo and you know that's that's the wish obviously
01:10it's always to go far but let's see you know it's a different concept now you
01:16know it's the first time that Rome and Madrid are almost two weeks events like
01:22Indian Wells Miami so you know it gives you I guess more time to recover between
01:28matches if you keep going in the tournament which I think it's useful for
01:34me look I'm always a proponent of having a quality team and entourage around you
01:42and and having people who are experts in their field who have experience who have
01:50no knowledge who also understand psychology as well who know how to
01:56emotionally approach you when you need help or when you need space it's also
02:02important you know for fitness coach tennis coach to also have that kind of
02:07ability because you spend a lot of time on the tour together you see them much
02:13more than you see your family especially when you're younger when you are
02:17traveling literally every single week of the year so of course for me it's
02:22different than for the younger guys you know I when I was I didn't have my I
02:27guess proper team until I was 18 or something like that up to that point I
02:35was sharing coaches traveling coaches you know traveling in groups and stuff
02:39and it was a different time I was also growing up in Serbia which at that point
02:44was going through a lot of difficult times economically was you know almost
02:50impossible for us to it was impossible actually to to to have personal coach
02:55and and and the other things right if you don't have a sponsor if you don't
03:00have somebody backing you financially then you can't do it or Federation or
03:04something like that so for me it was a different kind of circumstances then for
03:08maybe some other guys that we see today on the on the tour it's it's quite
03:12different but if you're coming from an Italian Federation or French or American
03:16or British it's it's different you have all these conditions you have all this
03:21infrastructure and support system that really makes your life easier but at the
03:27same time you know life shouldn't be easy always you know I mean you have to
03:33also learn through hard hardship and and I've really valued my time you know
03:44where I was traveling for some time and you know challengers that I played by
03:51myself you know without anybody and I I thought that that was also a very
03:57valuable life experience for me to understand you know how I can take care
04:02of myself be independent so it's it's important to have the mix of the two I
04:07guess for a young player
