00:02 - So one thing about this social media phenomenon,
00:05 this big trend, is that there are some misconceptions
00:07 that are in there, like it's all very general.
00:09 And as a bear biologist, there is a lot of specifics
00:13 that I think really matter.
00:14 So, you know, one for example,
00:16 is that every bear is different,
00:18 kind of like how every man is different.
00:20 And so just making these generalizations
00:23 sometimes is useful 'cause it speaks to a wider issue,
00:25 but sometimes it just really doesn't fit.
00:28 So there's also something to be said
00:30 about just the basic instincts of bears.
00:33 They are not super aggressive.
00:35 I imagine we're talking about the most common bear
00:38 in America, which is black bears.
00:40 I think that's a good example.
00:41 They can be big, they can be ferocious,
00:43 they can absolutely kill a person.
00:45 But for the most part, if they are fed
00:48 and their bellies are full,
00:50 they're not necessarily looking to attack somebody.
00:53 They actually have much better things to do
00:55 than go after people, in particular girls or women.
00:59 But if we talk about a man, every man is different
01:03 and full belly or not, there can be dangers to women,
01:06 regardless of what kind of food state the man is in.
