00:00 Guys, Slow Horses, I don't know if it's me, it probably isn't, but it really feels like
00:04 it's getting its flowers this year as people tend to say. It feels like it's taken off
00:09 to another echelon over the last 12 months in terms of audience feedback, in terms of
00:14 global domination. What's that experience for you guys as the cast? Have you noticed
00:19 that sort of like upturn in a way?
00:21 Well I think more and more people are seeing it and realising it's on. It's recommended,
00:28 word of mouth is the biggest recommendation on Slow Horses. And people discover it and
00:34 find it and they make it their own.
00:37 I feel, I was speaking to Freddie earlier and I mentioned how it feels like this show
00:41 has become a bit of a blueprint about how dramas, a little bit of line of duty in a
00:44 way, how dramas can start off concentrating on the script and the performances and the
00:49 character development and then as year on year become kind of bigger, more explosive,
00:54 more sort of blue chip I guess in a way if you're talking about global dramas. Have you
01:01 guys felt that from the initial scripts you got through to now? Do you think it's grown
01:05 in the right way?
01:06 Yeah, definitely. I mean I think in response to what you were saying about this third series,
01:11 it feels like the whole thing has been smoking and suddenly it's burst into flames. But the
01:16 writing is so good, the writers are really, they understand it. Will Smith, who's the
01:21 showrunner, he understands the books so well and the whole thing is sort of cooking really
01:27 nicely and it's going to get better and better as well.
01:30 I mean, your character really disappointed me in the last seven. I always liked him.
01:34 I always was a big fan.
01:35 You liked him?
01:36 I liked him. I thought there was something about him that was a bit funny. He was like,
01:40 you know, the orders come from above, not necessarily from him. But you've thrown the
01:46 baby out with the bathwater I think.
01:47 You started to enjoy it a bit too much, didn't you?
01:49 Yes.
01:50 And anytime anyone says anything to me, it's, "How could you?" And I won't spoil it for
01:56 people but "How could you?" is what I get. How could you do that to that young man?
01:59 Yeah. You're a disgrace. And going forward, how much do you guys know about what happens
02:07 in the general plan of the show, in the next series, what may even come after that? Are
02:11 you completely kept in the dark until that next script lands on your doorstep?
02:16 Well, we're following the books. So they're full of spoiler alerts.
02:22 So it's unlike Thrones where there were still books unwritten, I guess.
02:28 Well, I did two seasons of Game of Thrones. I accepted season five based on those scripts
02:34 and I hadn't read what happens to High Sparrow afterwards. And when I discovered what a monster
02:39 he turned into, I might not have done season five had I known.
02:43 Well, I think I'm going to be avoiding the Slow Horses books for now, at least until
02:47 the series finishes because I don't want to ruin it for myself. Guys, just a quick word
02:50 on BAFTA itself, a celebration of British talent, of British industry, especially you
02:57 guys have been it for so long. I was watching Brazil the other week, still a fantastic movie
03:01 that holds up. How much of a pleasure is it just to kind of continue to be here, to be
03:06 celebrating an industry that changes so much but it still feels so strong and so important
03:11 to British culture as well?
03:12 Yeah, no pleasure at all. They're hard work. It'll be fun later.
03:19 Are you guys watching anything this year other than your own show that you wished your agent
03:23 gave you a call about?
03:24 No.
03:25 Sorry, pardon me. Have you seen For All Mankind?
03:27 No, not yet.
03:28 That's pretty much my favourite series at the moment. It's also on Apple television,
03:31 so a big plug for the bosses there.
03:33 I've still got an account, so I'll check it out.
03:36 And Responder is really good.
03:38 Oh, wonderful, with the new series that has just come out. Well, congratulations on the
03:43 continued success of Slow Horses. I can't wait to see what comes next. Not you, obviously.
03:47 You've let me down. And I've got a feeling that you're going to let me down as well because
03:51 it feels like there's a lot of shadiness behind the scenes.
03:53 No, I don't know.
03:54 I'm not going to look too much into it. Have a lovely and hopefully much cooler afternoon,
03:59 guys.
04:00 Thank you very much.
04:01 Thank you.
04:02 Thank you.
04:03 You were very good.
