00:00I'm the winner of the 2024 World Marmalade Awards and for the first time
00:05the awards were given to two jars. So we've got a Seville Orange and Lime
00:11Marmalade with Red Chili and a Lime Marmalade with Crème de Cacao.
00:16There were around 3,500 entries from all over the world from Japan, Australia,
00:23America and all over Europe. Marmalade making is really big in Taiwan and
00:30also in Australia. It's a big competition. People take marmalade
00:36making really seriously but it's so friendly and it just
00:40brings people together and there was a wonderful festival up in Cumbria a
00:45few weeks ago to celebrate the winners and all things marmalade. Well we moved
00:52to Worcestershire. I grew up in Shropshire. We've been in a big circle but
00:57moved to a beautiful rural place about eight years ago and grow some fruits in
01:04the garden. So I started making jam just to use up all of that surplus fruit. I
01:09really enjoyed making it. I started entering a few competitions. I did quite
01:14well. I thought I'll tell you what I'll try my hand at marmalade and so it all
01:19started there and about six years later here we are. I love making marmalade
01:26experimenting with a few different flavours. It's great. I really love
01:31making marmalade with limes. I just love lime and things go really
01:37well with lime. It's got a really lovely bitter taste but the
01:42Crème de Cacao which is a little bit chocolatey, a little bit vanillary, works
01:46perfectly with the lime. I'm going to keep making marmalade because I really
01:50enjoy it. It brings out a bit of creativity and there's always a few jars
01:54to give to family and friends. I'm going to look at ways of passing on my
01:58knowledge to others as well because it's a great thing to do and I'd really
02:03like to share some of my skills and knowledge and expertise.
02:08Thank you.
