00:00 Sue Hickey who voted with Labor and the Greens to become the Speaker.
00:05 So not unprecedented to not get their choice but from another party it will be really interesting
00:10 to see how it goes in Parliament.
00:13 And what can we expect in Parliament today Adam?
00:16 It's largely a ceremonial day today.
00:19 So there was a church service here in central Hobart at St David's Cathedral where lots
00:24 of church leaders, religious leaders spoke to the MPs and there were addresses from Premier
00:29 Jeremy Rockleaf.
00:31 From there there's been some swearing in of all the new MPs in the House of Assembly.
00:35 Of course in Tasmania we're back to 35 MPs downstairs now for the first time since 1998.
00:42 So a whole lot more MPs in the Chamber than we're used to.
00:45 So the seven MPs from each electorate were sworn in and then this afternoon we'll have
00:49 an address from the Governor in the Legislative Council.
00:52 But the real business of the first question time and all of those kind of things kicks
00:57 off tomorrow.
00:58 So two weeks of sittings and we'll start to get a real idea of how this new Parliament
01:02 is going to work with the Government needing the support of at least four other MPs to
01:06 get any legislation passed downstairs in the lower house.
