00:00 Earlier on this year, over 3,000 farmers protested controversial new plans for farming subsidies.
00:11 The massive backlash obviously got people within the Welsh Government to listen and
00:14 now those same plans have been pushed back.
00:18 This means that the proposed change to farming subsidies will take place in 2026 at the earliest,
00:23 but there are hopes from those in the farming industry that the plans don't take shape at
00:27 all.
00:29 The new subsidies format includes 10% of farmers' land to be used to plant trees, something
00:34 farming unions have argued will cost the industry thousands of jobs if implemented.
00:41 The Welsh Government have said that the fact they are pushing the plans back shows that
00:44 they are now listening to farmers in the industry and want to open up a more constructive dialogue
00:49 in the future.
00:52 Despite the plans being pushed back, the Welsh Government have not said they will scrap the
00:55 plans altogether.
