00:00 to approach
00:02 Ricky to see whether he would agree
00:04 to an extension
00:05 of his contract.
00:08 We took that decision because
00:09 we believe
00:12 he is simply the best person for the job.
00:14 So on merit
00:17 we wanted to see Ricky extend
00:19 if he would agree.
00:22 I'm delighted to be able to announce
00:24 that Ricky has agreed
00:25 to an extension.
00:28 It is a bright future
00:31 and it gives me great satisfaction
00:34 that I'm going to have more time
00:36 with a lot of the younger players
00:38 that have come through our squad
00:39 to see them through
00:41 their early part of their
00:42 career.
00:45 It is a big job.
00:48 It is recruiting a roster
00:51 to become a competitive roster.
00:54 Coaching to have a full team
00:56 that is competitive
00:58 is one thing.
01:01 It is our job now
01:03 to make that competitive roster
01:05 a roster that competes
01:06 for the top four.
01:09 You want to fight
01:12 to win a competition.
01:15 Every coach is the same, every player is the same.
01:17 It is everyone's goal.
01:20 I have been fortunate that I have done it as a coach
01:23 and I have done it as a player.
01:25 I have just walked out of a meeting
01:28 with the players.
01:31 It was a preview meeting for a game in two days
01:33 time.
01:35 I touched on the 94 reunion thing.
01:37 My ultimate goal is to change
01:38 everyone
01:41 in my players lives that I coach
01:43 in regards to hoping
01:46 we can get to win a grand final
01:48 because it changes your life.
01:49 There was no decision to make.
01:51 I was overwhelmed
01:52 in regards to the meeting.
01:55 I did go away and speak to my wife about it.
01:57 The kids.
02:00 I was just
02:03 overwhelmed
02:07 with the fact that I have the trust and support
02:09 of these people.
02:12 >> It brings back those feelings
02:13 of the club means to you,
02:16 the premierships, the people,
02:18 that sort of thing is why you love
02:21 and want to get it back to where it was.
02:23 >>
02:26 There is not a coach out there
02:28 that doesn't want to win a premiership.
02:30 I am happy to put pressure on myself.
02:32 I want to win a competition
02:34 and I want to win at this club.
