00:39 Hello this is Rhonda Geary, Group Operations Director Balmoral Show. We're in the opening morning of the Balmoral Show for 2024.
00:48 Rhonda, how's it going so far?
00:49 It's going great thanks. We've just opened the gates and you can see the crowds are starting to throng in.
00:53 And we've got a full packed programme for the day and I'm hoping the weather's going to be on our side as well.
00:58 And what are the highlights for today that you think are the don't miss events, Rhonda?
01:03 On the opening day we've got all the beef cattle being judged, we've got all the sheep classes, pigs, goats.
01:09 In the main arena we have our show jumping going on just behind us here.
01:13 We have our national jumping and lots of various attractions that are on throughout the four days of the show.
01:19 We have over 500 trade stands and we have the children's farm, the off-road driving.
01:26 There's just something for everybody here at the show.
01:28 And the off-road driving is a bit of a novelty for this year, just tell me about that.
01:31 It is indeed. It's a children's attraction, it's the mini land rovers.
01:36 And the kids get to go round in a bit of an obstacle course on the mini land rovers.
01:40 You're not stewarding that are you?
01:42 No, and unfortunately I can't take part either.
01:44 Very good. So how many visitors do you reckon on the first day, Rhonda, you're likely to see?
01:50 It's hard to say but we hope to have up to 30,000 on our first day.
01:54 Very good. Well it certainly looks as though it's heading that way so far.

02:06 Can you tell me what's the big attraction for the event for yourself and the party?
02:10 It's fantastic to be here at Balmoral Show 2024.
02:14 Already huge numbers of people here which is really, really good to see.
02:17 Hoping for the weather as well.
02:19 The Balmoral Show has always been something that I've loved coming to.
02:22 Even from a child, school trips up to Belfast to see all of the things to be seen
02:28 and all of the activities to take part in.
02:30 So it's absolutely fantastic.
02:32 Great to see people of all ages here.
02:34 The show is for everyone.
02:36 We're really, really proud to have it here in the heart of Ligon Valley as well.
02:40 So really looking forward to engaging with the many stalls and the different organisations here.
02:45 But of course importantly, showcasing and championing our great farmers and farm produce here in Northern Ireland.
