00:00 I'm Conway Gittins reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.
00:02 Here's what we're watching on the street today.
00:04 Investors are reacting to key inflation data.
00:07 Consumer prices rose 3.4% in April from a year ago,
00:12 a slight downtick from the 3.5% in March.
00:16 That was in line with analysts' expectations.
00:19 This report comes just a day after another inflation
00:22 report which showed hotter than expected producer prices.
00:26 The data will be key when the Federal Reserve makes
00:28 its next interest rate decision in June.
00:32 Turning to tech, Google has unveiled
00:34 its version of the future.
00:36 At its annual Google I/O conference,
00:38 the company showed off its newest artificial intelligence
00:41 model, the Gemini 1.5 Pro.
00:44 Google wants you to be able to integrate AI
00:46 into your everyday life, helping with things
00:49 like schedule making, finding missing items,
00:51 and interacting with others.
00:54 CEO Sundar Pichai showed off the Gemini 1.5 Pro's capabilities,
00:58 demonstrating how it can summarize a group of emails
01:01 and ask to find a specific photo from way back in your camera
01:05 roll.
01:06 The updated model also allows users
01:08 to ask more pointed questions and receive
01:11 a response of their choosing, either in-depth or a summarized
01:14 version.
01:15 Google also unveiled its Project Astra,
01:18 which taps a user's phone camera and allows
01:21 it to ask questions about anything in the phone's sites.
01:25 Google said it does not have a timeline
01:26 for Astra's public release.
01:28 After the event, Pichai wrote, quote,
01:30 "Still, we are in the early days of the AI platform shift.
01:34 We see so much opportunity ahead for creators, for developers,
01:37 for startups, for everyone.
01:39 Helping to drive those opportunities
01:41 is what our Gemini era is all about."
01:44 And that'll do it for your daily briefing from the New York
01:46 Stock Exchange.
