00:00From the entablado of pageants to the world of fashion,
00:03this US-based beauty queen is showing off her beauty.
00:06Not only in beauty, but also in the fashion scene.
00:09Let's get to know the Filipina who is giving pride to our country in the international fashion industry.
00:14We are with Ma'am Janice Delima this morning.
00:17Good morning, Ma'am Janice.
00:18Good morning.
00:21And of course, very beautiful, Ma'am Janice.
00:24Very fashionable.
00:27You were fond of clothes and fashion when you were young.
00:30What inspired you to enter the fashion industry?
00:34Yes, since I was a kid, I really loved fashion and I loved to dress up.
00:39And I was the youngest and the only daughter in the family.
00:42So my mom really wanted me to dress up.
00:46So sometimes, I can see my talent.
00:49Every time I see a piece of fabric,
00:53I do that and I sew it myself.
00:57I cut it.
00:58And I also wear dolls.
01:01So it's really up to me.
01:03Fashion is normal.
01:05And that's why I became a model when I was in high school and college.
01:10That is my part-time job.
01:12Is this in America?
01:14Or here?
01:15Here in the Philippines.
01:16Who inspired you to actually enter the fashion industry?
01:21Actually, I don't really have an inspiration.
01:24It's just like my fashion and my interest in fashion.
01:28But I didn't dream of being international.
01:33So we all know that here in the Philippines,
01:36the competition is really high.
01:38So here in Manila, my dream is only up to here.
01:42But you know, if it's for you, it's for you.
01:45When I got married, I went to America.
01:47And then that's the time that I started my company.
01:51What fashion events and runways do you do?
01:55Tell us more about that.
01:56Yeah, the first runway I had was in New York, Fashion Week.
02:01So it was launched during the September, during the pandemic at that time.
02:07And then after that,
02:10the second one was in Season 2.
02:12Then we went to Paris last year.
02:18And then now, we have a Paris Fashion Week also this coming September.
02:24That's great.
02:25Ma'am, how do you collaborate with designers and to actually bring them abroad?
02:30How do you do this?
02:32Actually, I don't collaborate with them.
02:34They really reach me out and they apply.
02:38When they can see Allegri di Pilipinas, they google it.
02:43And then they really like how we made it for three years.
02:47And it's not just like a runway.
02:50It's like they can easily build their brand.
02:53Because it's American-based, right?
02:56It's a global-based company.
02:58And they apply.
03:00So for me, it's not just like, you are a really good designer.
03:06But I want the whole thing of you, like the story, the inspiration, and the attitude about it.
03:13Because I want them to be role models for other designers.
03:18So for Filipino designers who want to enter the international fashion scene or stage,
03:24can you help them to penetrate here in the US or abroad like in the US or Paris?
03:31Yes, of course.
03:32I told everybody that Allegri is the bridge to fulfill someone's dream.
03:39We all know that all of our designers dream of attending big events like Fashion Week,
03:47New York, Paris, because it's the capital city of fashion.
03:53So now, they know that they can do it because of Allegri.
03:57So I really love to get all of their testimonies after that.
04:01Because it's really nice to hear them say,
04:04Janice, you don't know what you've been doing to me.
04:09You didn't know that.
04:11Your presence in Paris and New York has helped me a lot.
04:17Personally, I see this as an advocacy more than a business, right?
04:21Because you get to help Filipinos to get to know the international scene.
04:25How does it feel to actually help fellow Filipinos to get to know and build their brand abroad?
04:31For me, it's normal for me to help.
04:33I really love to help in any ways.
04:37That's why I have my own advocacy of charities.
04:41It's also because I'm really good in fashion.
04:47So I was able to enter the global market.
04:49That's where I'll be able to help our designers.
04:52Because we all know that Filipinos are really talented, right?
04:56And we really excel.
04:57Anywhere we go, we're talented.
04:59That's why I want to have a company that will present to them
05:03that we can compete with other designers all over the world.
05:07Because our designs are really beautiful.
05:10So how can we present them?
05:12I know of a few colleges that make national costumes for their candidates.
05:18Maybe they can be a platform for you to get to know their works abroad.
05:24What do you have to say to young Filipinos
05:27who are dreaming to succeed in this industry, Ms. Janice?
05:33You know, it's just hard work, determination, and faith in yourself.
05:40Because there's nothing impossible if you don't stop dreaming.
05:47If it's for you, it's for you, right?
05:50That's all I can say.
05:52For example, there's a designer that I'm bringing to Paris, Samantha Oliva.
06:00She said that she's been dreaming for a long time.
06:03She started from scratch.
06:06I told her that she can come with me to Paris this September.
06:13She said that if she stopped, she wouldn't be able to continue her dream.
06:18She just wanted to show what she's good at in designing.
06:23There's nothing impossible for us if we work hard,
06:28believe in ourselves, and also pray for them.
06:31That's right.
06:33Her advocacy is beautiful, right?
06:35On top of the self-fulfillment that people will get,
06:38you also helped them.
06:41If others can do it, they can also do it, right?
06:44Yes, yes, yes.
06:45That's what Ms. Janice said.
06:47Well, thank you very much, Ms. Janice, for sharing your story
06:50here in Rise and Shine Philippines.
06:52May you live long.
06:54It's also about your help to our fellow Filipinos
06:57who want to succeed in the fashion industry.
06:59Thank you, Ms. Janice.
