Wild Swimming UK: Best places to go in designated bathing waters

00:00The wild swimming season has begun and with it the government has announced 27
00:06new designated bathing water sites, some in Yorkshire and a lot across the UK.
00:15There are now over 450 designated sites including Ilkley Lido, River Nidd in
00:24Knaresborough as well as Wetherby. You can swim at the River Wharf at Wetherby
00:30Riverside. There are new designated bathing water sites in Cumbria, West
00:36Sussex, Tyne and Wear, Essex, Cumbria, Hampshire, Cambridgeshire, Devon, Somerset,
00:44North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Shropshire, Suffolk, Somerset, West Yorkshire, East
00:54Sussex, Oxfordshire and West Sussex. These designated water bathing sites
01:01will be added to over 400 others up and down the country which means the
01:07Environment Agency will monitor these sites for all of the bathing water
01:13season. It does not mean that the water will be clean, what it means is it will
01:19be given a rating and if it needs improvement they will work with the
01:23communities to improve the water.
