00:03It is a species of Lonely Bee.
00:06It is quite characteristic, because in large shapes,
00:09it reaches 2.5-3 cm in size.
00:13During flight, it emits quite a strong echo,
00:16and the color is also characteristic for it,
00:18because it is depending on the sun's radiation.
00:21Sometimes it may seem black, sometimes slightly purple.
00:24This is simply due to the structure of the outer shell,
00:26it is a structural color.
00:28Fortunately, or unfortunately,
00:30due to climate warming,
00:32we can meet it more and more often in Poland,
00:35including Lower Silesia,
00:37as one of the warmest areas in our country.
00:40It usually nests in rotten, but dry meadows,
00:45e.g. in fir trees,
00:47there may also be beech trees, other trees,
00:49but it is not a pest,
00:51understood by foresters,
00:53because it already chews on the paths
00:56with rotten, dry wood,
00:59and not in live wood.
01:01The adult Lonely Bee starts flying
01:03on the first warmer days,
01:05that is, let's say, the end of April,
01:07and the beginning of May,
01:09and then it starts its flights,
01:11it collects material,
01:13and as soon as it collects this material,
01:15it begins to climb female paths
01:17to lay eggs there and raise young ones.
01:19In winter, the adult Lonely Bee
01:21repeats this cycle year after year.
01:23The species was previously established in Poland.
01:25After the Second World War,
01:27there were no new records for a long time,
01:29and in the last development in 2005,
01:31it was considered to have probably died out.
01:34But as you probably know perfectly well,
01:36it starts to appear,
01:38whether in Wrocław, or in Ława,
01:40or in other places.
01:42It is quite easy to notice.
01:44Fortunately, it is not dangerous to us in any way.
01:46Of course, it can harass us,
01:48but only in a situation
01:50when we will behave aggressively towards it.
01:52If it flies around us,
01:54we should not make any sudden movements.
01:56We just let it do what it is created for,
01:58and it should not harm us in any way.
