00:00The Beatles story opened in May 1990. Across the years it's won numerous prestigious awards and by its 25th anniversary the attraction had welcomed more than 4 million visitors, boosting the local economy by an estimated £300 million.
00:1534 years old, not today on the 1st of May so we're obviously celebrating not when I'm 64 it's when I'm 34 which you can see here and you can see on our branded t-shirts. We were going to celebrate our 30th birthday but it was during lockdown so it wasn't the right time to be celebrating it but you know now we're all back up and running and we're welcoming all our fabulous visitors into the city.
00:39The award-winning attraction tells the story of lives, times and music of the Beatles as a unique immersive experience, perpetuating the legacy of what's considered to be the world's greatest band.
00:51Our mission is to educate about the Fab Four who came from Liverpool and tell their story and educate that younger generation. It's about music, it's about fashion, it's about geography, it's about history, it's about culture so yeah it does live on and long may it continue.
01:10The Beatles story was conceived in the minds of husband and wife team Mike and Bernadette Byrne in 1987 after a visit to America. Whilst Mike was a Mersey Beat musician himself and acquaintance of the Fab Four, Bernadette was a Cavern regular who had a closer relationship with the band particularly George Harrison whom she dated in the early 60s.
01:29I mean 60 years on that a band is still resonating and it's like across generations as well so our visitors who are coming through are getting younger and younger and younger but they know so much about the Beatles.
01:43It took two years of research and development to get the project off the ground.
01:47The city of Liverpool is such a fantastic leisure destination welcoming people from all over the world so you know it just gets better and better. I think another Beatles song, it's getting better all the time.
