00:00 Absolutely. Yeah, that's the goal.
00:02 It was good the way it was. Seven years, long time.
00:05 I'm just literally overwhelmed by this setup.
00:09 Take it in, it's a little over stimulating.
00:10 It's not someone with a mask behind you, is there?
00:13 Oh my god, I hope not. Nobody told me that. That would be messed up, y'all.
00:16 Like Ellen DeGeneres, she always does that, doesn't she? Someone hiding somewhere.
00:19 Don't turn around right now.
00:20 Can I just begin by, your hair is the best I've ever seen any human being ever.
00:24 Can we just tell me the secrets, please?
00:27 I don't know, my mommy's really got nice hair too.
00:29 That's really sweet, thank you.
00:31 It's absolutely gorgeous. I was so obsessed with it in the film.
00:33 Every single one, you just look fantastic.
00:35 Thank you, that's so sweet of you.
00:37 Love. How are you getting on? How's London? What have you been up to?
00:40 Well, actually we mix all of the sound in London, so I've been on the mixing stages for the second one.
00:45 Mixing sound, which has been lovely.
00:46 I didn't realise it goes as deep as-
00:48 I think when you're an actor, it's kind of up to your own choices, but I've touched every piece of these movies.
00:54 I was in the editing room, now we're mixing it, so it's-
00:56 What a cool experience to be able to learn like this so hands-on.
01:00 And also, what a- I mean, I had a little bit of a weep the first day I was there.
01:04 Because I was like, this is A, like a dream come true, but also so many people work so hard on every movie.
01:09 And it just breaks my heart that movies can be cast aside so quickly.
01:12 When you meet all these wonderful people who are like, "Our post-production sound supervisor is like, wonderful."
01:17 You know what I mean?
01:18 You never realise just how many people are involved in filmmaking until you're really in it.
01:22 Do you feel like if you had a chance, would you have liked to have been a bit more involved with Riverdale, perhaps?
01:26 No.
01:27 It was good the way it was.
01:29 Seven years, long time.
01:30 I was going to say, would you have changed much, you know, with the sound and stuff?
01:34 No, I mean, Roberto is- He was such a- He had such a vision for the show.
01:38 Like, he- I mean, he touched everything.
01:40 The length of my nails, the colour of my nails, the wall colour in the background.
01:43 He had such a specific vision, like I couldn't have made it better.
01:47 Like, he did it exactly the way he wanted to, and I'm so happy I could help him carry out his vision.
01:51 Well, from Riverdale to The Strangers, thank you for terrifying me for the whole day.
01:56 I was on edge. I was like, screaming when a bus went past me.
01:59 Oh, no.
02:00 You happy that you're going to make people terrified?
02:03 Absolutely. Yeah, that's the goal.
02:05 I feel like you did actually get every single thing right.
02:09 The mask, the blood, the axe, the lodge in the middle of nowhere.
02:13 Everything was spot on. The only thing you missed out, which I'm glad you did, spiders.
02:18 Yeah, I'm good on those. Because I prefer them to stay alive and everyone wants to kill them, and I'm not into that.
02:23 I'm a put them outside kind of girl.
02:25 Are you? With a hand?
02:27 I mean, I'm not picking it up. I actually have this fantastic thing I got from Amazon,
02:31 where it's a long stick and it traps it, and then you just push the bottom and it gets it underneath, and then you just put it inside.
02:36 Strangers, chapter two, are we going to see any spiders?
02:39 We do see some creatures, but I won't say it's not a spider.
02:42 Phew. Thank you.
02:44 You're welcome.
02:45 For saving me.
02:46 Yeah, you can watch chapter two safely.
02:47 I also love the way that you mention vegetarianism quite a lot in this.
02:52 It's funny, I didn't have anything to do with that. I'm a vegan in real life, and that was already in the script when I came on.
02:58 I love that. I wasn't sure about the order of the cheeseburger without the burger in it, just the cheese. It's a bit strange.
03:02 Well, do you eat grilled cheese or toasties?
03:04 Yeah, but-
03:05 Is it not the same thing?
03:06 Not really. Just a slice of just like rubbery cheese in between a bun.
03:09 Isn't that what a toasty is? Oh, you put tomato in it.
03:11 Oh no, that's the devil's work.
03:15 Tomatoes scare me as much as this film.
03:17 So then what do you put in a toasty? Cheese and bread?
03:19 I didn't realize that a burger was toasted. I thought it was just like a dry bun.
03:23 I don't- I mean, I'm going to be honest, I didn't eat it. I didn't get to eat it. Something interrupted me.
03:27 Yes.
03:28 But you know what? I will put it back if that ever happens to me.
03:32 Good. I did love that though, because I was like, yes, thank goodness, somewhere, because I'm also a vegetarian.
03:37 I thought that's really good that they're mentioning this.
03:39 Yeah, I just think it's really nice that in the short amount of time that you get to know these characters before all this craziness happens,
03:45 they're really specific individuals. Like specifically Maya has all of these traits you learn about her quite quickly, and I like that.
03:51 I also love the road trip scene at the beginning. Do you like a road trip? And if you do, is there a song that you like singing, blaring out?
03:58 It's funny, because the reality is, it's ABBA. Any ABBA song of all time, I'm a road trip girly, windows down, ABBA all the time.
04:06 Any particular ABBA track?
04:08 So, The Winner Takes It All is the best song ever made. I said what I said. I will cry every time I listen to it, but it's the best song ever made.
04:16 If I'm going to do a road trip though, probably Knowing Me Knowing You, or Does Your Mama Know?
04:21 Gimme, gimme, gimme.
04:24 Yeah, I'll take it. But Does Your Mother Know is like, I mean, one of the most fun songs maybe ever made.
04:29 Because mums never know everything, do they?
04:31 My mum does.
04:32 Oh, that's so cute. She has the best hair, don't you?
04:35 I mean, I started this with my mommy. Cut it out.
04:39 I also just love the kind of vibe between the both of you. Was it just really, how do you not laugh the whole time?
04:46 Oh, with Froy? He's also such a delight. He's such a delightful human. He feels like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
04:53 That's the best way to describe him. He's always smiling. And so the poor thing is such a happy person, usually in such a great disposition,
04:59 and he's thrown into a horror film. And so in between takes, we were laughing the whole time.
05:03 Not during the horror stuff, but in the beginning, he's just so funny.
05:06 Did you have a trick of how to cry? Because everyone has their own thing. Did you just think of something really sad, like, I don't know, Bambi?
05:12 If I do that, then I feel like I'm not in the scene. No, I'm just in the scene, and if it happens, it happens.
05:16 I do really like that in the script, they never wrote in me crying. I feel like there's a lot of stage directions and stuff where it says,
05:22 "She cries here." They allowed me to just feel when it belonged and when it didn't, so I would just kind of go with whatever my body did in the moment.
05:28 I make myself cry by accidentally getting deep heat in my eyes.
05:32 Do it right now.
05:33 Yeah.
05:34 I want to see.
05:35 I was wondering if it was a kind of trick that you could do, because the eyes go a bit red.
05:38 I don't personally do any tricks because then I feel like it doesn't feel it in my body. I need to feel it in my body. Do you know what I mean?
05:45 Yeah. And talking of feeling, what do you want people to kind of feel after this?
05:49 Scared.
05:50 Really scared.
05:51 Yeah. I want them to walk away with it bone-chilled, as if you would when you watched the first film. The original film.
05:56 Up until now, until this, what kind of scared you to the bone watching?
06:01 Well, it's funny. I watched a lot of supernatural scary films and a lot of psychological scary films, and the only things that really scared me were the typical home invasion type films, like the original Strangers.
06:13 So I'm definitely more into the hyper-realism scary films, like this one.
06:18 And just finally, are you still in touch with all the guys from the show? Riverdale, everything good?
06:23 Oh yeah, of course. Yeah, we have a group chat. Especially me and the girls. We're always talking.
06:26 Oh, I love that. What's that popping off all the time?
06:28 Not WhatsApp, girly. It's iMessages.
