00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:03 It got way out of control from 6.01 in the morning until now.
00:07 Good afternoon, Scott.
00:11 Yes, it was definitely out of control.
00:13 It's still out of control today.
00:14 The whole story is just spiraling.
00:17 And what's interesting is that a couple of days ago,
00:19 the local media was all over the PGA of America
00:22 about when are they going to come back to Valhalla.
00:24 When are they going to come back to Valhalla?
00:26 Well, I'll tell you what.
00:27 I'm a PGA member, and the PGA of America
00:29 just got a gift today because they have their answer.
00:32 Probably never.
00:34 Yeah, I was just thinking earlier
00:37 and saying that if they ever want
00:39 to have golf at a high level in a major in Kentucky again,
00:43 they need to make this go away with immediacy by sunset.
00:47 Yeah.
00:48 Absolutely, absolutely.
00:52 And I'll tell you what.
00:54 Scotty, at the press conference, it's just amazing to me
00:57 how well these athletes in modern times
01:00 can handle the media, handle themselves,
01:01 compartmentalize things.
01:03 He comes into the media room.
01:04 He seemed very calm.
01:05 He spoke very eloquently about the family.
01:07 He wanted to give out his warmest regards to the deceased
01:11 and make sure that everyone in the room
01:13 kind of stayed focused on what the real tragedy of the day
01:15 was.
01:16 And then he talked about his own experience,
01:18 about how he was sitting in the holding cell doing stretches,
01:21 thinking that maybe there's a chance
01:23 I'll be able to get out there today.
01:24 He really thought that there wasn't going to be a delay.
01:27 He didn't know that the PGA, before his incident,
01:30 had already said to the media, we're
01:32 delayed today because of the tragedy that happened
01:35 and the traffic incident and all the issues
01:37 that they were dealing with logistically.
01:39 So Scheffler, his heart rate was out of control.
01:41 And a lot of those stories about the sandwiches and everything
01:44 were the police being--
01:46 like trying to keep him calm because he was kind of in shock
01:49 and awe of his own moment.
01:50 He had really no idea what was going on.
01:52 To his own admission, he just kind of
01:55 was like going from one thing to the next.
01:57 And he almost didn't know what was going on.
01:59 He was confused.
02:00 He was confused from the moment he thought he
02:02 was told to drive one way.
02:03 And of course, he didn't really get into too many of the details
02:06 because there's an outstanding investigation.
02:09 But throughout the course of our conversation with the media,
02:12 it was pretty telling that he's still
02:15 on a huge adrenaline rush.
02:18 (upbeat music)
