00:00 Welcome to the UK premiere. Just sum it up for me right now that you're in London.
00:04 Yeah. Epic to be here. Yeah, look, we started in Sydney, over at the Cannes Film Festival,
00:11 we did LA and now we're here in London where I've spent a lot of, probably a lot of my
00:15 career shooting films here. Love the people, love the environment. So, you know, it's special
00:19 to come to a place where there's such enthusiasm for films like this and yeah, honoured to
00:24 be here. Stoked.
00:25 And you're seeing it on one massive screen.
00:27 The biggest screen, yeah, the IMAX theatre. No better screen to see it on.
00:31 Yeah, why is it important to see it on such a huge screen?
00:33 Look, this film, this kind of experience, it deserves a cinema going experience, you
00:37 know, and the bigger and louder the cinema is and what it offers just elevates the experience
00:43 even further. But visually it's stunning, the soundtrack, the music, the special effects,
00:48 it's beautiful. Everything is bombastic and large and entertaining and thrilling and this
00:54 is why we come to the movies, you know, we want to escape, we want to be transported
00:58 to another space and have an experience that you can't replicate anywhere else. So, get
01:03 in the cinema and check this one out.
01:04 Let's go back to when you got the phone call about being in this amazing universe. What
01:07 was your reaction?
01:08 Well, I got the phone call first to meet with George and I was terrified and excited. I
01:14 was like, 'Eh, how's this going to go?' I grew up watching the Mad Max films. Being
01:19 Australian, a very special place in my heart. And I met with George and we spent a couple
01:24 of hours talking about the character and the psychology of him, the universe that he created
01:30 and got the part and I had to check a few times if that was true. Yeah, it was a surreal
01:39 experience.
01:40 And have you got any highlights from on set?
01:43 Look, I think shooting out in the desert and the outback and the red dirt in Australia
01:48 where the landscape, it's the same locations he shot the very first film 45 years ago.
01:54 So again, it felt like I was in dream state, reliving my childhood of watching those films
02:01 and the memories it stimulated. But I've got to say, starting the day with when the first
02:07 AD calls out, 'Start your engines' and every motorbike and truck and car erupts and the
02:12 visceral effect and ripple effect through the set, still kind of in my bones.
02:17 And when you first saw yourself back in that prosthetics, what was your reaction?
02:22 It was great. Look, any time you look in the mirror and you don't recognise who's staring
02:26 back at you, it helps the separation from oneself and the transition into the space
02:32 of the character. So I was very thankful for the work the hair and make-up prosthetic team
02:36 costume had done. It was incredible.
02:38 -Sum it up? -Yeah.
02:39 It's epic. Thank you.
