00:00 We don't really like each other.
00:02 But, you know, I mean we get along for a couple of hours.
00:05 We've got the same agent.
00:06 We do a couple of interviews and then that's it.
00:08 Yeah. I'm enjoying this film though, honestly.
00:11 Like, I know we didn't do the film together, but like,
00:14 I really dug his performance yesterday.
00:18 My first time seeing the movie as a whole, but like,
00:21 just, I was deeply moved by his performance.
00:24 He's such a, I said this to Sam, by the way, you can ask him.
00:28 Sam's our agent. But he's such a,
00:31 you have such a way of controlling the pace of a scene
00:34 by some things that you do in it.
00:36 You just, you can come in and just control it, dictate it.
00:39 It's just amazing to watch.
00:41 Well, I think, I thought, I thought his performance was terrible.
00:45 And I was shocked to see that he's so good.
00:49 It's terrifying and kind of disappointing.
00:52 I thought I could try and, you know, teach him a lesson, but I can't.
00:57 He's incredible.
00:59 No, but he is. My biggest thing, what I love to watch on screen
01:03 is people listen, you know.
01:06 And you can see if someone's just acting listening, you know,
01:09 or if someone is engaged.
01:11 And again, Franz is just, I can, listening and there,
01:15 and in the moment, yeah, it's beautiful.
01:18 If you want to, we can also be closer.
01:21 No, because the wind is ruining my hair, so I'm like, yeah.
01:24 Would you like me to be closer?
01:25 You can come over here. It's beautiful over here.
01:27 And the first thing she told me was that she sees a naked man
01:31 standing on a skyscraper.
01:33 And he has an enormous penis.
01:35 I remember this, yeah.
01:36 I was like, oh, wow, okay, that's going to be me.
01:38 I remember her saying that to me when we had fish and chips,
01:41 actually, in a chip shop in London.
01:43 And I was like, wait, is that me?
01:45 And she's like, no, it's not you.
01:46 I was like, okay.
01:47 Well, then I'm in.
01:50 I always say, like, you know, for me, the singing and dancing bit
01:53 is not -- the most attractive thing for me is someone trying to sing
01:57 and dance, you know, and the effort that goes into it.
02:00 And, you know, with that effort, this attachment,
02:02 and this pure, like, just pure soul.
02:05 I can't sing.
02:06 I can't dance.
02:07 You know, I don't like to say I'm really good at it,
02:10 but, you know, there's nothing more beautiful than seeing it on screen
02:13 and someone really going for it.
02:15 And Andrea kind of made that clear to me.
02:17 She was like, you know, we're not looking for you to be, you know,
02:20 hit every note.
02:21 And I kind of just took trust in her that, you know, I'm off beat a little,
02:25 and it hits more than if I hit every note, you know what I'm saying?
02:29 I can't hit every note.
02:31 I am a better singer.
02:32 I just played it down for this.
02:33 For me, it's every movie and every part I take, I want to, you know,
02:38 I want to feel a level of spontaneous.
02:40 I want to feel a level of, you know, not being rehearsed,
02:43 or I don't want to have a preempted feeling going in.
02:47 And this is perfect.
02:48 Andrea Arnold is like, you know, there's not even a script involved.
02:52 And I'm like, yes, yes, yes.
02:54 It's a total documentary world-ish, you know, that it's just pure truth
03:00 and you're surrounded by non-actors, and that elevates you to tell the truth
03:05 and behave in a certain way and get vulnerable in a certain way.
03:10 And through getting vulnerable, I feel we reach some places
03:14 that we don't get to reach as actors.
03:18 But, yeah, it's all--like, for me, I just want to go in and not know anything
03:22 and act out of instinct and behave, you know?
03:25 I mean, the rest is kind of for stage, you know, your lines and stuff like that.
03:29 Not to say not know your lines, but I just always want to just discover and learn.
